Thw girl I like basically confirmed that the only real reason I can't be her boyfriend is because I'm physically unattractive. Now I have incentive to get into shape! Should I tell her or wait until I've lost enough weight that she notices?

Physical attractiveness is only one of her criteria. I meet everything else and I refuse to wait until she realizes that physical attractiveness is not important. Besides, if I pull this off she'll know how dedicated I am. I'm not going to let myself give up this time.

 

Ummm....No offense, but the girl needs to be slapped. =/ I'm hoping that personality is a point on her criteria. If it is, that's all that should matter.

 

There's nothing wrong with wanting to be with a guy that seems perfect to her. If she wants to be with a guy who she thinks is physically attractive then she should be allowed to without being thought of as a bad person...

 

People are too idealistic. If you have no physical attraction towards someone, you will not have much of an overall attraction. It has nothing to do with being shallow. If you only want to be with the personality, you're pretty screwed.

 

Asexuality is being left out of this.

To the OP, you shouldn't tell her or you will feel accomplished before doing it. Just work at it on your own until she notices.

I agree, I don't think you should worry too much about physical appearance just to get a girl. Trying to lose weight and keep yourself in shape is one thing, but doing it just because a girl says she doesn't want to be your girlfriend because of your appearance? Best find yourself another girl mate, especially if she ends up finding another guy while you're at the gym

 

Thank you. That was my original plan, but I wanted to get a second opinion.

She just said I was physically unattractive. Took a few seconds to come up with it though. I think she's just using it as an excuse not to admit that she has feelings for me. So I figure if I lose weight and work on building up my left arm she'll finally have to admit it.

I'm actually not too worried about that. It's kind of a habit of ours to hang out every weekend and neither of us gets out much other than that.

Also, I refuse to go to a gym. I'm just fine with secretly walking/running a mile on my parents' treadmill every day and using the horizontal bar at the foot of my bed to do sit-ups at night before crying myself to sleep. I can always make it harder as I go so it'll stay beneficial.

Well it certainly ISN'T because I do most of my heavy lifting with my right arm, I'll tell you that.

Pfft, I walked/ran a mile on my parents' treadmill today in addition to my usual to/from the bus routine AND ate only two pieces of leftover pizza for luncinstead of the usual whole half pizza. I think I'm winning.
