Well, technically you can use the information given in the anime to deduce that he's at least twelve, possibly thirteen, as Christmas is shown a couple of times, as is the anniversary of his meeting with Pikachu (A.K.A. His Birthday), but I don't think the image-creator put that much thought into it.
