the way that I do it is to have my text box automaticaly go to advanced, that way you don't need to manualy do the color code, makes it really easy to do this:

I use it all the time for RPing, cause it is easier then writting out the color code all the time, and it has a smilely link, so you can get all the smiley codes and copy+paste, instead of memorizing them.
it also has quick links to put strike, [MARQUEE]Marquee[/MARQUEE],

(the only problem after editing color or size, is that you can't get back to default unless you already have default in front of the part you changed)

It's quite fun changing the text colors and all. I mean, it's not something I usually do, but I suppose it's fun from time to time.

Though, I'm always debating on what fonts to use and what not. That's a real hassle.

Although I stopped using personalized font a long time ago.

User CP -> Edit options -> Miscellaneous Options
Then select enhanced interface full WYSIWYG editing.
