Prolly the angriest interview I've ever read, with Mr. Shyamalan yelling at us that he's not being racist in the casting of "The Last Airbender", gosh darn it! http://www.indiemoviesonline.com/ne...n-the-last-airbender-race-controversy-250610 So, anyone else looking forward to seeing AHng save the world from barely-scarred Prince Zuko, AKA the poster child for racial diversity? EDIT: ^made by me right after reading this
WHAT IS THIIIISSSSS Also, i think it's great he's trying to make the cast be diverse, but I really wanted him to stick to the script. He's completely butchering the show by having all these changes, including the pronunciation of the Aang's name. Though he has a point about Anime having ambiguous features. I'm going to see this movie the day it opens.
I'm going to a midnight showing on Wednesday. Technically, I'll be seeing it on my birthday! I'm so happy. Unless it's a disappointment, then I am disappoint.
This movie better not be a disappointment. If it doesn't go well, we may never see Korra... At the risk of being racist I'm going to go ahead and say FUСK RACIAL DIVERSITY. SEROIUSLY, NO ONE CARES. STICK TO THE SCRIPT.
I don't get the big deal with the races of the cast. First it's the races, then it's the voices (Let's get someone who looks JUST like the characters, mute their audio, and have the voice actors say their lines!) I mean, if they play the part, so what? I wanted someone who looked like Aang and Toph. And all I cared about Zuko is his scar. ...so far, I'm a third disappointed. But anyways, trying to go see this the minute it comes out.
I don't care so much about the races of the actors either, but come on, that guy playing Zuko is so dark you can't even see the scar. Also, I have a big problem with that fact that Sokka and Katara don't look like themselves at all. I don't care that they casted white actors, but couldn't they have gotten a tan?
So far, the biggest disappointment to me is the makeup department. As we all know, movie!Zuko's scar is pretty much nonexistant. It's even worse than Gerard Butler's three wrinkles in Phantom of the Opera. And, had the Avatar The Last Airbender makeup department been thinking, they could've added just a little color to Katara and Sokka instead of making them look like Cullens with dark hair. Plus, that's just logic; Inuits have darker skin because a) it traps the heat in their bodies, which keeps them from freezing, and b) the sun reflecting off the ice and snow would give them a tan. On a different note, in the cast list on IMDb, there's no mention of Toph. Or Azula. Or Suki. Or Jet. Or Bumi, aka the coolest man in the Avatar universe next to Uncle. So I'm praying that it's going to be a saga, and not just one film.
He said it was; In the interview he mentioned wanting to work on the second film sooner and that the first movie is book 1. Also, Pretty boy, they dubbed the voices?
My thoughts exactly. This movie BETTER live up to the show. I spent three years of my freaking life addicted to Aang's freaking journey on a flying bison! Anyway, this movie better not disappoint any of us because with all fo us combined we could make a riot that not even the fangirls of Twilight would be able to top.
