I'm not an expert on this topic, but I have some slightly bad news...

Your data on your memory card may be "corrupt". When this happens, I have heard of no way of getting that data back. It's happened to me on a VERY FEW PS2 games. Once on my PSP for one game. I mean, my save file was right before the final boss, then the data gets corrupted, now when I turn on that game, it doesn't even say "Load Game". Just "New Game". It doesn't even acknowledge that I have a save file. Very frustrating. (By the way, the game that I'm talking about on my PSP was Final Fantasy I)

But who knows, maybe I'm wrong. Maybe your data is fine, or maybe it can be saved. Like I said, I'm no expert.

I had the same problem with Kingdom hearts 1. There was nothing to be done and I had to start the game all over again! However mine specifically said corrupted data. There may be a chance to fix yours.

That happened to me with normal CoM on GBA XD

But yeah, like that person said it's probably corrupt. Just because it doesn't say its corrupt doesn't mean it isn't. Since this is for PS2, i honestly don't know how that could be fixed sorry. If it were for another console maybe someone could look at it but..i don't know. Maybe ask the people at the store you bought it from if they know anyone that could help you? o.o

Probably corrupted Memory Card or save file. You might have to either start a new game or get a memory card.

It's either a memory card issue or the slot is corrupted. You might wanna clean the memory card drive or get a new card.

    I'm siding with corruption.

To check this, turn on your PS2 without a disc in it and view your memory cards.
If there are any files that are blue cubes, that means those files are corrupted data.

I would highly suggest on getting a NEW memory card. They are like $20 at walmart (well the one at the one I go to they are). My memory card has the same problem but with other games(I got it used when I first got my PS2 and it's been acting up recently).
