No this is not a debate/discussion, just me raging.

So, at our school, we have religion classes, where we get lectured by the priest about religion and God, etc etc.

Firstly, I'd like to say, some things are just bullshit. Girls aren't allowed to go fully into the church or have communion when they have their period because it's considered, 'unclean'. For their information, period blood is the cleanest blood in the body as it's used to cushion the baby in the womb and we have things called pads and tampons, we don't use rags anymore.

With boys, if they masturbate or have a wet dream (And I'm 100% sure you can't control your dreams when you're having them) They must go to confession and confess that they did or they can't have communion. Ohoho, I laughed so hard when the priest said that, every guy in my class would have to go to confession that means :D

Aside from that, on to people dying.

Apparently, people that die for no reason at all (eg: Stillborn babies, which haven't even had a chance to live) are taken away by God so that they do not commit all the sins they would if God didn't take them away. YET the priest says, if you're a sinner, you can go to church and repent your sins, which is technically contradicting what he said about stillborn babies, etc. (Because he's saying, you can change the future by confessing your sins and repenting them, but God already knows your future)

Another thing is, any sort of 'add on' to you, is a sin. Any piercings, hair extensions/streaks/dye, tattoo, etc. Oh, and make up. Rofl, I'm a big time sinner then.

    kdoneranting.

PS: I'm atheist. Oh, and for those that say 'this doesn't happen at my church wtf' I was taught through the ways of the Greek Orthodox church, which is stricter than other Christian religions.

All forms of Religion have numerous contradictions and false statements. It's unfortunate that people today still allow their lives to be controlled by imaginary men in robes of white, but it's a fact that we have to live with.

Despite what seems obvious to myself or you, others may never realize the stupidity of the Church and it's "holy" laws.

Religion is the blanket the keeps people asleep. Nothing more than a scam for false hope.

A lot of aspects are contradictory when it comes to religion. Not only that, but they're old...I remember learning that somewhere in the bible, it says shellfish are bad (I havent read the bible in about 10 years give me a break) and obviously, a majority of religious people don't follow this...

I mean, I used to be a Jehovah's Witness, but that type of religion didnt believe in college...

I say this because we mainly believed that judgement day was near, which meant we didnt have to worry about things like education and such, because in the new world we wouldnt need it.

    BAD.^

And its silly saying this, but my parents believed that stuff. It almost screwed them over. (Don't worry, my parents have jobs, my dad is a lawyer, my mom is a teacher, lol) This is pretty much the reason no one in my family is a Jehovah's Witness anymore.

    kdonereplyingtorant.

    P.S. I'm athiest too.

Has your school heard of "Seperation of Church and State Laws?" I'm pretty sure they have them in most states.

But I digress. Sounds like a waste of time, especially for an atheist. If it's required, you can sue.

I'm no atheist, but with modern society, some of the laws we have to follow are impossible to do so, and therefore very dumb.

That'd be pretty stupid if she goes to a Christian School. Which is totally possible and totally common.

In all seriousness, I really don't think any religion should be taught in schools.

I think it should. Although I'd rather learn about religion without teachers trying to convert me and ****. I mean, religion is pretty ****ing interesting. Especially when it comes to the "winners" and the "losers" of religion.

I really do think religion is funny. I just giggle everytime i hear someone spouting about their faith in god. I used to believe, but then i got to 8 and i realized it was impossible. Why didn't everyone else figure that out?

naww, we have religious studies class here and its a really intresting lesson :v

They dont stick to one religion, or try and convert you at all.

It also helps eliminate a lot of prejudices people seem to have.

I stopped believing at around that age too :D

But it's harder for me because, religion is basically a very important this in Greek culture, where you get pressured to go to church and celebrate religious events.

Well, religion brings hope. Even if its false, people like to cling onto optimistic things. Especially if they are in terrible situations.
