I find it frustrating that people discriminate when someone is jewish or atheist or something

Like alot of people think that jewish people would wear those hats, or is that hebrew? sorry but anyways people will think that a christian would be like OMG ITS GOD!!!1 i know alot of jewis and christians and then
people will say that atheists are heartless and i got mad on that one but i got really mad that people who belive in just science are know it all's and i belive in science and i just belive in science more than a god.

what do you think? sorry if my grammar and spelling sucks, im really tired

Are Jews Jews from their origin, or belief? (Just thought I should know that)

Only group of people I have a problem with is Hasitic Jews (not normal jewish people, but the dudes who wear the hats, have the funny side burns, and keep on screwen the system and getten rich off of it becuz of their religion. Not that all of them are bad. Just most of them is all, and that is a fact because every single one thinks they are "chosen by God", or so that is what their religion teaches).

But anyways, I personally believe in God and such, but I don't have any specific religion, because all of them are f'ed up in their own way. Most people are indeed religious *******s towards eachother. As for the science believers, only reason they think they are know it alls is because they believe that they are right all the time, since they have 'facts", which all other religions say are 'tests created by God", since apparently, the christian religion doesn't believe in dinosours.......(ask a local priest about it whydontcha).

I personally believe at the moment that most religions are wrong, and corrupt. I believe that science does in fact prove a lot that has happend, but I still hang onto faith in God, and I believe that most of the stuff happend because of him. I mean, who says that he did everything? For all we know, he just created everything, and big bang, or whatever else did it all happend by accident. You know what I'm sayen?

To be Jewish is from a bloodline. There are quite a few 'atheist' Jews or lightly religious Jews, to answer the question above.

I feel compelled yet again to point this out...Science isn't a 'belief'...I don't know why people keep trying to say it is other than someone who is religious simply cannot grasp that science is an education and seeking knowledge through experimentation and examination. Really, it's one thing I hope someday will stop being said. Being scientific does not mean you have to not be religious. Being an Atheist is not a religious thing -at all- either, implying you don't believe in any god. I am not religious in the least, though I do study some spiritual things with the mind and mediation. Science is a means to research and learn and is not a religion. Anyone, whether believers in religion or not, can study science, so long as they don't go skewing it to always prove their gods exist. Science cannot answer the question of it -yet- and people who muddle and mess with it really can also be irritating.

In the end, really the only people that do annoy me are fascists such as many Evangelical Protestants that try to rewrite the Constitution, continuously try to get the 10 Commandments posted in schools and they have them at courts etc. These people bash gays, girls dressing inappropriately, boys having long hair, or whatever. They have so many issues with everyone else it's hard to not be disgusted by them when they say on TV that they wish gays would burn in hell, soldiers would die because God will punish them, Hurricane Katrina happened because people are unfaithful, Harry Potter is evil, blah blah. I can also not forget the radical Islamic groups that go to Europe and America and constantly try to skew government laws in their favor while harming women because they believe they are inferior to their own Muslim women. It's fine to rape, humiliate, cheat and lie to a European or American woman because apparently they are trash and won't save themselves to be married to a good Muslim man, who can have more than one wife...hypocrites. Also, their fight to get laws bent their way and they complain all the time about Christians and Atheists and everyone else but can't take insults themselves...they drive me bonkers.

So the problem I will always have is simply with fascists who believe others are inferior. It automatically makes me label them as closed-minded bigots that do not seek the truth or to understand others around and because they are so ignorant they won't accept differences that make us all special. Religion doesn't bug me except in the hands of these people that I feel are tremendously delusional and are part of a long chain of negative history we've all had to witness or read in books. Religion is not an excuse to commit crimes that otherwise would be seen as illegal, immoral and unjustified if not under the invoking of the name of God.

I don't care about someone's opinion until their opinion starts affecting either me or those around them. You are entitled to your opinion but you should keep it to yourself, and if you don't, expect backlash. =/

    Edit: lol, looked up WBC.

That poor girl, she's being taught to hate, she doesn't even know what she's doing. Sad, really

^This is a perfect example of my stance on religious belief, if you impose your belief on others, such as what this woman is doing to her child, I WILL, DEFINITELY tell you you are wrong, and why.

Opinion are like buttholes, everyone has them and they all stink.
So does that mean we should disregard all opinions? No.
Does it mean all opinions are right? No.
Does it mean relegious opinions hold greater merit than other opinions? No.
Relegious groups have a opinions about life, as many people do, but saying that oe is right or one is wrong is an opinion, not fact.

That is true. But many class it as a 'faith' for someone because of the way people use it in today's world, such as 'I don't believe in God, I believe in Science' or 'The Big Bang happened, not God' and so on. Though it is not a faith because science is a study of the physical world, I have to admit, at some points science, fact and theory are on a fine line and are not clear to many people.

If someone says "I believe in Science" they are giving a shortcut answer. It doesn't mean the person isn't also Christian or any other belief. It doesn't automatically mean they are Atheist. There are quite a few people in the science fields that are Jewish, Christian, Buddhist, Atheist etc.

Science is simply examining that around you and coming to understand how it works and how it may have happened. Also a hypothesis in science equals what others outside the field call a theory. A theory in science is more grounded and not just an educated guess. What we can see, feel, cognate out, ponder beyond that of someone else's written word etc, we do. It's nowhere a religion since religion always says this is how it is and that's that. Science won't be that way or it would become corrupted in what it is actually trying to do. When examiners stop examining, science is over.

When the Science Guy went to Texas to do a presentation he was booed off the stage for saying the moon reflects light from the sun instead of casting its own light. That's a belief, sure, but it is also one that has been proven by using instruments, studying it and scrutinizing the details. The reason it is argued? Because a -book- written a few thousand years ago says it's not so. So one analyzes and examines as much as we can something before making it a common known thing that is very likely while another side says a book that is superior to all says it's one way so there you have it. That is the difference.

Anyone of any religion can be scientific in nature. After all, science is an elevated form of philosophy, which religion also could find its roots in it. The difference here in saying it is a religion is that science constantly challenges each theory and law, each hypothesis. If something is wrong it's tossed out for the better thing. It's studying from a physical plane and not wandering off into the metaphysical because we simply can't answer these things unless somehow we become that advanced to pierce through the veil and then yes, science would delve there too because we simply want to know. Would it tick off some religious people who want things 'sacred' and they have to know their way is right? Sure. However, science isn't 'sacred'. And the knowledge is there if we can find it to study and that's really in the end what it is all about. Anyone who asks 'how does this really work?' and actually researches for answers has a cognitive mind and can say they've used science to some degree.

Religions discrimination is especially irritating to me.

Mostly because many of my closest friends, are atheist. Personally, I don't give a damn what they believe in. But I can't even mention "No, I can't go see a movie. I have to go to church/church youth group." or something like that. They always go on and on about how my religion (Christianity... Congregationalism to be more specific. ;D) is trying to impose on people and get them to pay money.. and blah blah blah. When none of it is true, and I've proven it to them not to be so multiple times. >_>

People just can't get over the differences in others, for some reason. Who knows? People have been fighting over Religion for ages and ages and ages. It's not going to stop for a while, I don't think.

EDIT: I read Angel's and Demons recently (.... again.) and I just remembered a quote, that applies to this thread particularly well.

"Science and religion are not at odds, science is just too young to understand."

Or something like that. I'm too lazy to go pick up the book and find the exact page number/quote. <_<

Any discrimination annoys me, especially because of religion.

In America, we fortunately have the freedom of religion.
It sucks that some other countries don't have the freedoms we have.

    That's really sad.

Groups are always characterized by the worst/most extreme of their people. It's just a sad fact of life. It's unavoidable, so those groups have to try and reform those bad/extreme people.

Well, that's not just going to happen with religious discrimination. I get joked at if I say I'm going to go play some video game that isn't 'mainstream popular' or I'm going to go role-play some table top game or something. I've just learned to stop caring what other people think in that regard. If you like to go to a church youth group, you do. People will make fun of anything in the end. If we listened to those sorts of people, we'd absolutely be bored out of our minds or we'd be picking on other people for trying to have some fun.

The only time I actually get mad at people and tell them to tone it down is if the 'joking' and 'teasing' becomes more of an issue of ostracizing a person. I am Atheist but I certainly am not going to pick on someone to the point of excluding the person from the group of peers around. I can take picking on and sometimes dish it out, but people that say things to hurt other people, regardless of beliefs are just lame.

Catholics: A bunch of people who think everyone else is wrong, and they're right. They steal from the rich, and keep it to themselves. They say what God' will is without consulting what actually should be God's will. They'll always tell you how wrong you are, because they're Catholic.

Aethisim: Those people on the news who don't want bumper plates to be made about any sort of religious beliefs, and want to single themselves away from everything.

Baptists: A group of overly-religious people who as well say what God's will is without thinking twice about what God' will actually is. They're all black too.

Satonics: People who believe the world should die! Die! Die! Die! BLACK HARVEST!!!

Judiasm: People who are stingy and know everything. They always say they're right, and hate Catholics.

    Now, there's a few examples.
Here's what they all actually mean to people who understand:

Catholics: The original root of the Catholic church. They don't usually tell anyone they're wrong, and more likely, they try to bring reason and understanding into a situation. The most likely to be tolerant of other religions, trying to convert people of different religions into truth. Most actually do give to the poor, or to the church itself, trying to make it a better enviroment for the people.

Aetheism: A group of people who try to live life to the fullest because they don't believe there is a heaven. If there is no heaven, thus they must make this life the best they can. They don't always opose religion, and in fact are sometimes the most open about different religions.

Baptists: People who are alive in the word of God. Those who jubilate every moment in song. And for another thing, they aren't all black people; besides that, what's so wrong about a generally black church? I go to church with black people, and I go to a Catholic church!

Satonics:-----Er-----let's skip this one. Mostly because there's---er----ummm----not actually that much difference...0-0

Judiaism: People who choose to live in tradition. They believe in unity with the Catholic church, and are not in fact "stingy".

I could go on, but I'm going to have a little faith in others actually understand from what I've given here.

actually.......the first definitions sound more on par with the religions

    jk.....or am i...up to you.

but to tell the thruth,...the catholic religion....in the past did whatever they wanted through time, because of their twisted traditions....and people do as they say.

    sunday the day of worship?

when did that come into place?.....well i could explain...but.

    back on subject.

religious groups are an important part of our society , when the french revolution started....people went into chaos....they wanted to destroy religion, and it went wrong, people need to have firm believes wether they are right or not....because then chaos is abound.

Exactly. All people of Catholicism, Judiasm, and other religions are against Gay People. We all think they should rot in H-E- Double Hockey sticks, and none of us think otherwise. Aethists are the only people who can be seen as hereos to Gay People, becuase Aethism is the only pure religion.

    Er----Wait...that can't be right.

I'm Catholic; I have Bi friends. Do I ask God to make their lives living Hell? Of course---------To finsih this sentence: I DON'T!

In fact, one of those Bi friends is a practiceing Episcapol(Sp?), so God doesn't "hate" anyone.

What those people depicted in that picture are doing is wrong. Homosexuality, in itself: a sin. God "hates" them? God "hates" America? Allow me to laugh hear. That flag is being held the wrong way, and the child, being raised the wrong way, even by religious standards.

God "hates" the sin, not the sinner. He is the only being capable of not being able not to love. No matter what, God never turns his eyes away from those who have strayed. If anything, he focuses more on them, and tries to bring them back into the fold. But then again, God doesn't exist, right?

    well.....there's one thing.

people should not discriminate against others...for any reason.

even....when your gay,bi,les.....people have no right to tell you who to love.

if a person is catholic, protestant , ect.

shouldn't you be a "good" person?

instead of going around critizicing things, like ,if they wear piercings, or their hair, or their clothing.

there are other ways.....and critize shouldnt be one.

Satanists and Satanic Cult members are two different things. A Satanist is a person that believes that God is a jerk who is oppressive and cruel, dominating in all aspects of life and Heaven is boring. They believe Satan was actually trying to help humanity by giving them intellect and the right to free thought so that they could enjoy life and that God is punishing them for it so why not just party it up and enjoy life while you have it? Satanic Cult members are the ones doing the blood/animal sacrifice stuff. Just thought I'd point this out for anyone who cared to know.

Whether you like it or not, religion has only modernized and become -friendlier- to all because PEOPLE wanted it that way and fought the religious establishments. It was adapt or die to those places. Protestants also can't claim they haven't had their blood thirsty moments in history. After all, we have the issues in Ireland, the Puritans and their cold calculating demeanors and witch stoning etc. Martin Luther, the creator of Protestantism, was in fact a Jew hater and one of the points that some historians debate if Hitler didn't get some of his hatred of Jews from. There is actual documentation from Martin Luther to prove his hatred of the Jewish people and it did have its affects on people caring about Jews in WW II, to include Americans that were not so sympathetic. One could hope that most people would grip onto the more 'peaceful' teachings in the Bible, but it doesn't always happen, does it? These people that are violent and trying to oppress others do not deserve martyr cards.

Base, remember when you hated Gay Days at Disney World and were toned down and saw different? You can't see why Atheists and others would have a problem with a government owned license plate that we pay for through our taxes that says "I believe" and has a religious cross. You say you have bi and gay friends. I am not saying this to bring up 'old wounds' but the point here is that you are being hypocritical. Can anyone go to Disney World on Gay Days? Yes. It is meant to promote the point that people who are gay are all around so get used to it and adapt. How does Gay Days oppress anyone? What does a Christian license plate issued by our government say when NO OTHER religion or Atheist license plates can be issued? -This- speaks of oppression. Can a Christian go out and buy decals like everyone else and stick them on their cars? YES. They do it more than any other group. So -why- do they need some special thing that Muslims, Agnostics, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists, Wiccans, Satanists, etc can't have? WHY? Answer that. And why should everyone else PAY for Christians to have their way?

Next, let's talk about why 10 Commandments should not be posted in front of a Court House or at Schools that are public. What of the 10 Commandments do we actually USE in law now? I am speaking of the FULL 10 Commandments and not the cut version that Christians are most familiar with. I can put them all up if you don't know what I refer to and let's see how many of those laws we actually follow today or can even be considered fair in a court of law. It's like false advertisement to post them up. I will say this plain and blunt. Every Christian group that has brought up the 10 Commandments crap to me loses when I say 'Okay, so you don't mind if every other religion out there has its fundamental guidelines posted too?' Why? Because these Christian groups DEMANDING their right to express their religion are also the very same people that declare all other religions are FAKE and would consider the postings of the 8 Fold Path etc to be evil and against God's will. Are you getting the point here yet or not?

Understand that it is entirely an OPINION and personal choice to follow any religion or not since no one can prove whether Vishnu exists, Yahweh exists, Osiris existed, Odin is real, Gotama Siddhartha was right or wrong, Satan is or isn't a bad guy, Horus is the real Jesus, Jesus existed and walked on water, Moses parted the seas, Job had his test of faith, etc.... since none of this can actually BE confirmed or denied utterly, it is OPINION on whether you believe or don't.

When OPINIONS are used to take away other people's rights, whether they are mainstream or not, it is wrong. We can go back and forth till the end of our lives on whether God is real or not. So why should I follow laws pertaining to a God that I don't want to since you can't prove to me he's real? Why should I be declaring your religion be banned because I can't disprove it? This is why religion doesn't belong in politics, government or law. The standards of the society and what it expects belong there. Our freedoms from oppression belong there and our wills to keep these ideals enforced do.

So in the end, and I hope you actually read this because it seems like you are ignoring me... If an ideal of religion is oppressive to society, it needs to be dealt with. PEOPLE make religion what it is. If religion is in good hands, it is. It has definitely improved from the past eras. However, there are fanatic groups out there that try to do things such as quite a few Evangelical Protestant movements. WBC there is an Evangelical Protestant movement. Jesus Camp and Ted Haggard, our President George Bush, Huckabee etc are all Evangelical Protestants that use 'God' as a reason for things in our government, raising our children and causing our youth to be sheep. I DO have a problem with that. Why? Because hating gays iand declaring they can't get married is unacceptable to me because the only reason is religion and some people can't stomach it. Boo hoo. Our children become dumber because of these nuts declaring science is against God. Huckabee wants to put 'more God in the Constitution' that was written so that all people could be free of religious oppression amongst other things. Bush says that Atheists shouldn't be considered American citizens and he tried to declare what the 'real' God is and that the Islamic Terrorists aren't following the same God. These again are people's opinions but they are oppressive to OTHERS. Therefore they are wrong.

And on a final note, if someone told me that we should force the Catholic Church to close for its views, I would have the same fight I do against what I have voiced above. Why? Because in the last few years it has -not- tried running other people's lives, except I could debate on some of their 'charities'. Most Catholics are fine people and the Church is a gathering place and social event that makes them happy. Catholics aren't going door to door harassing people. Most aren't even all ranting etc and can talk and debate very rationally and some people are great contributors to science and bettering of life. Many take time out to help others. So you see, you need to open your mind more and realize what it is actually that is being fought for and recognize it before you go putting people down. The fight against religious oppression is NOT about the fight against people who are religious. It's against people who abuse religion and want their own rights at the expense of everyone else, pure and simple.

I'm seriosuly sorry, Repliku, but because I'm becomeing increasingly tired from the hour, I could browse through your last post. I think I got the points directed at me and the most important parts, but other than that, I just couldn't pay attention. Just letting you know.

I remember that whole thread about Gay Days inc., and yes, through which I've become a little lighter on the whole issue. I've got to give you that.

Thanks for the little tidbit about the differences between one group of misunderstanding people, and a group of completely insane people. I literally did appreaciate it.

As for makeing this all about me, Why? I'm just trying to defend my religion here. I mean, if you haven't seen what I'm talking about, just take out the log lodged in your eye, just after that last glimpse at the splinter in my own.

I'm not demeaning other people on the basis of their religion, I'm just trying to make light of a situation. Not really a time when I made an open objection to all aethists. I wished they'd honestly stop, the whole dil-i-o is getting down right bore-ing, but like God, I can't control what you all think.

I recall that there were numerous editions of "I believe" plate in contem-plate-tion, but when Aethists, mostly, opposed it, the whole operation had to shut down. Spank ya very much.
And....yes...I have been watching Ace Ventura. Seriously makes me wonder I why I'm so tired, even for the hour of night.

I would suggest you read it again and understand why the license plate deal is an issue as well as a few other Christian nominated movements. That way I don't repeat myself on what the problem is behind them. As I have said before, any act done that is physically oppressive to others and can't be shared equal is something that should not be done, despite how much someone whines about it. That isn't to say you are whining about it. Just read the post over and respond then with your opinion because I'm curious to see what it is that can't be gotten when it is actually explained out and you aren't just thinking 'Those darn atheists won't let us have crap!'.

I'm not dissing your religion. I don't believe in it but again, that's personal opinion. I believe anyone should have the right to believe in whatever. However, like freedom of speech, if they do something wrong with this belief they ought to be punished whether or not they -think- they have an excuse. The excuse of believing in a religion does not condone to me some crimes and never will, just as having a lack of religion does not condone certain behavior either. There's no excuse when a society lays down laws that whether you are religious or not that we are not equals in its eyes.

Anywhoo, read the post again when you are more awake because I know it is extremely long. Then let's talk it over.
