No Thanks Remove Non-Forums from Search in Forums on Search Page

Everything from KH-V Chorus and below isn't a forum and shouldn't be included, in my opinion.

 

Where do you think the search function for those should be?

 

Well, those are pages and aren't technically forums. XenForo uses the term nodes, which covers four things:

• Categories
• Forums
• Link forums
• Pages

So "Search in Forums" is being specific in that it's searching each forum.

Pages are easily findable, so I don't really think they need to be searched.

 

I disagree. I find it is far more convenient to check every page on the site using the search feature than to open each page up myself and do a Ctrl+F browser search. Especially when those pages have tabbed or paginated content.

 

If you want to search just threads and posts there's a tab for that.

Yeah so I'm just saying that it's already limited to threads and posts even if the pages & such appear in the box. It's consistent with the search everything tab but will still only return forum results.

 

It just sounds like semantics to me. I still think in terms of boards from prior forum experience. Behind the hood, yes that is probably a list of nodes as you described. For the end user, just calling it forums is clear enough..
