Remember the guy with all the inventions living in the Northern Air Temple? He may have had something to do with that.
It takes place seventy years after the original. Everyone from the original cast is dead except Katara. :/ And if you think about it, seventy years is a perfectly reasonable amount of time for these inventions to develop, especially considering the things seen in the original series, like freaking TANKS.
