Sephiroth is Jewish

Sephiroth is almost certainly Jewish. I mean, there are some exceptions I'm sure, but Roth is such a Jewish name. Also, I've seen the pictures of him in Advent Children and he's kind of got our nose.

This sucks because it's creeps like him that give us Jews a bad name to a-holes and Gibsons.

Thoughts?

 

I have to disagree with you there cus Sepy is from ff7 and that's comes from japan so i think he'll be a budda or shinto something like that

 

I kind of always though of Sephiroth as an agnostic, though if you mean culturally...I might be able to see it...though most jews don't have silvery white hair down to the ground XP

 

Well...if I get old without ever cutting my hair, it's possible for me to have silvery white hair down to the ground.

I suppose he could be Jewish...but I wouldn't trust a jew with hair that long. Also, the slaughtering of many people doesn't help

 

Sephiroth is from a made up world, and besides his name is Sephiroth not Roth.

 

But Sephiroth isn't an old man...which also begs the question how the heck did his hair get that long in the first place...jew magic?

I know. This is just me not taking my religion too seriously. I'm just having some fun and I encourage others to do the same, so long as it's not mean-spirited.

Kabbalah being a translation of the name of a Hebrew prayr, if I remember hebrew school correctly which I may not, and also the name of some extremely religious offshoot of Judaism...I don't know much about them, except that Madonna converted several years back. They way they use the word here, however, it sounds like they're referring to some holy book. I don't know of a book called the Kabbalah in Judaism, but it's quite possible since I never studied the religion that deeply. Plus, again, Hebrew school was a bad time in my life so if I blocked it out, I wouldn't be surprised.

Also, referring to Sephy's final form in FFVII:

"A common rumor is that 'Safer' is a mistranslation of 'Seraph' due to Safer Sephiroth's angelic appearance. This may be indeed the case, though the original Japanese was 'Seefa' rather than 'Serafu.' It should be noted that 'Safer' is Hebrew for 'Book,' literally making the name 'Safer Sephiroth' mean 'Book of Numbers'.

Even if Wiki got everything else wrong, what they said about the Hebrew translation of "Safer" is correct.

Yeah, I'm Jewish. I'm not super religious, though. I don't keep kosher or do anything on Shabbat, but I say Sh'ma every night, go to temple for Rosh Hashanna and Yom Kipper, and have Passover seders.

I also get Hannukah presents. And seeing as how I get Christmas presents from the non-Jewish side of my family...:D More loot for me!

yeah i saw that a while back as well like last year i was putting in random stuff and seeing what it said i didnt expect video game charecters to come up but they did that was the first time i used wikipedia
