This has been bugging me for a while now. What's up with people! Seriously, this happens all the time.

Kid 1: Want to go read? I got a good book.
Kid 2: Eww, no way you're gay!

What is wrong with gay people? They're HUMEN! JUST LIKE US!, people, all the time do this. It's just childish, how do you reckon gay people feel? They're not offending anyone, but we offend them?

People like this should get a life, and realise they're really ass holes.

I don't know, it's just a habit for some people to say. But they do have to realize that they might be offending someone.

Yeah, I use to be in that habit, but then I realised what I was doing, and stopped ever since. I also, started a campaign in school, and have stopped like 6 or 7 people from doing it.

It actually annoys me when people say; that's gay or that's ******ed.

It's because they replace 'stupid' or 'horrible' with these words.

Even though I'm not gay/lesbian/bisexual or learning impared I still find it offensive to other people and extremely unecessary.

At my high school there was this thing called Unity Day. I think one year some of the students "shredded" words like that from being used. People obviously still do it, but some people stopped too.

    But not the same meaning.

With the whole Homosexual, I have friends that are bi-sexual, gay, lesbian, straight, bi-curious.
A person is a person. And speaking their orientation as an insult is rather idiotic, but I catch myself doing it as well.
It's an old habit people say to get their anger out.

I'm bi-sexual, but even before I was one I found it stupid to call something you don't like 'gay'. I actually think that gay people are usually more fun. Not all ofcorse, but my best friends sisters good friends have being dating for a long time now (both female) and they are really fun and all.

I used to be in the habit of describing things as 'gay,' but I'm trying not to say things like that anymore. I mean yeah, occasionally mock my friends with gay jokes, but they know I'm not serious, and I really don't have anything against gays. (apparently a lot of my friends are bisexual, but I'm not going to expand on that. xD)

As for saying 'that's ******ed,' I'll admit, I've done that too in the past because I heard people saying it before I knew what it meant and I just got into a habit. I'm starting to replace it with 'silly' though. :'D

It's really just slang, and if you get extremely offended by it you might need to grow a thicker skin, but it is unfortunate that people throw it around so much. :/

I agree. They need to learn to choose better. People get offended when they say this.

I don't even really care anymore. I've been almost completely desensitized to it. Which isn't a good thing. And I'm bi-sexual, and I don't care when someone calls something gay. I mean, what's it really matter unless they're specifically bullying you and making fun of you about it. But if they call a random event or a random something gay, then I don't care. Why get upset about it? D:Now I dunno why it's any different, but when I'm around an actual mentally ******ed person, I find it rude to call something ******ed. I don't know how it's different, I really don't. ><

One more reason why today's society sucks. No respect for ideals different than their own, to the point that a sexual preference is viewed as a form of inferiority. Of course, no one cares anymore, so its a losing fight to even try telling friends not to use "gay" or "******ed" in terms of stupidity.

Words in the English language change meanin' over time. It has always been that way. Like Gay originally meant that someone was happy/cheerful but now it is used in reference mainly to homosexuality. One or two folks may have been slightly peeved at the change of definition for gay.

N' sayin', "That's gay" doesn't necessarily mean someone is tryin' to be offensive towards homosexuals. My friends n' i used to say the word "gay" a lot when we were younger. We never used it in a degradin' way to homosexuality, but simply used it as a word to describe somethin' stupid or unfair.

It was about a year ago when I started hearing my friends using such language. Even after I came out to them and told them I was uncomfortable with it, many still use it. If they don't stop using it even after understanding it could be hurtful, it could be that they're just too used to it.

My advice: Don't hold a grudge against people who say it or pester people about using the language but continuously say it anyways. It's like a vegetarian not willing to be friends with any meat-eaters, or bothering people by telling telling to stop eating meat.

It's just a habit for people to replace the words 'horrible' or 'stupid' with 'gay' or '******ed'. It isn't to offend homosexuals or people who are learning impaired, it's just what they come out with. They aren't calling the person homosexual, but the media have made things seem that if you are homosexual or learning impaired you are evil or horrible.

I used to say, 'That's gay', but I've started growing out of it now, I just tend not to say it as much, but my gay friend (who just happens to be called Ollie and is 15 years old, I find that so funny xD) doesn't take offence if any of me and my friends say it, he usually just laughs with us.

If it is offending homosexuals around you, or you feel it is being used in an offencive way, then yes, feel free to do something about it, but using the term 'gay' to say something is stupid, you can say that's offencive to homosexuals, but don't take it too much as an offense. It's only a habit that children from about 6 years old and upwards pick up on and just use it.

Man, I'm typing A LOT today.

Using words like that as an insult isn't the smartest or most subtle move ever but being offended by them is no less dumb.

I'm not offended, I just find it childish, how people make fun of people who are different.
