    Story

Throughout time there has been very few mortals to know what it is like to sit at the top of the world and know that there is none to challenge their power. As time passes empires, organizations, countries, and civilizations rise and fall. Each of them had their moment of glory but collapsed given their time. There has been one who has watched this cycle repeat countless times and decided that it was his turn to rule, his turn to step up and take his place as the current world’s new ruler. He waged numerous wars against all who opposed him and often took every chance he could to arrive at the battlefield himself in attempt to show that he truly was immortal in every sense of the word. He never lost a single battle, returned with a single wound, and was never impressed by his enemies. He crushed all resistance and set up his own world order in place of the old one, declaring himself to be the God of the world.

Despite acquiring all the power that he wished for, over the decades he grew tired of it all. After all, there were none who were willing to challenge his authority and he was one who enjoyed combat even if it would always end in his favor. He sought to find one who would be worthy to face him in combat but he knew that he could not simply ask for someone to step up. There were people from all corners of the world who had special abilities, harbored hatred for him, formed feeble rebellious groups to fight his influence, and other who merely had the will to resist submitting to his might. He had his army gather up these individuals to take part in a competition of sorts to find who would be the one to do battle against himself. In this man’s eyes he saw no harm in it, he would merely find some enjoyment in dueling the victor before slaying the winner himself.

[Note: I wrote the story before making my OC forms. To let all of you know, the Emperor’s name is Rohet.]

    Setting

The world that the story takes place in is a futuristic Earth, so much time has passed that just about anything that anyone can think of has occurred. (Let’s pretend that the Sun won’t die or that the planet didn’t get destroyed by any events.) Some humans have evolved to gain special abilities, weaponry only thought possible to exist in the realm of science fiction were created, the Dark Ages occurred a second time, the rise of science and reason came back into play, and so on. History repeated itself several times and now the Earth is filled with an abundance of technology that makes life easier for everyone, even if they are all ruled by a man wishing to call himself a god.

What does this mean for you? Old fashioned weapons have advanced to the point where the materials used to construct them make them nearly indestructible and somewhat useful against modern armor and weaponry. Although wars are not fought anymore, there was never any real plan to dispose of the current weapons after the current ruler rose to power. …Anyways, any weapon you can imagine can be used in the RP. Guns, swords, lightsaber-type weapons(they won’t cut through “regular” swords), and other exotic things are available.

    The Gauntlet

The arena constructed was simply named The Gauntlet. In consists of over a hundred holding cells beneath the main arena, the arena itself, and thousands of spectator seats as well as the main box where the Emperor himself sits. The arena is has surrounded by a twenty-foot high wall seemingly made of bricks with a see-through dome placed on top so that all may see the battle within. Obviously, the entire thing is completely impervious to any sort of assault from both outside and inside and all powers used from within cannot escape the walls or dome. The grounds of the arena change randomly per match ranging from a water-filled area to a rocky battleground with several pillars spread about.

The holding cells beneath are just several hallways packed with barred rooms. There is one person per cell. The combatants are allowed to keep their weapons with them as if they try fitting them through the bars they will only encounter a powerful force field stopping any object or body part from leaving the cell. Powers are completely negated in this lower portion of The Gauntlet.

    Noncombatants

The large portion of the Earth’s population that were lucky enough not to be forced into The Gauntlet. This means however that they do no posses the desirable level of combat ability to be fit to enter such a demanding competition. They often go to see the matches for mixed reasons. Some may enjoy it or some may be related to one of the combatants and are watching to see if their loved ones survive or not. There are a few that wish to break the combatants out of The Gauntlet.

    Matches

The matches will be held in one of three ways. Combatant VS Combatant, Combatant VS Beast, and Challenge.
Combatant VS Combatant: It is as simple as it sounds. Two combatants enter and face each other in unrestrained combat. The object is not to kill the opponent but to render the opponent unconscious. Although they may both be allowed to live, there is no penalty against killing the opponent and it is even encouraged as not everyone is merciful.
Combatant VS Beast: A fight to the death, the Emperor will unleash one of his monsters to kill the combatant while he or she will have to slay it if they wish to see another day.
Challenge: This can range to any of a dozen tasks. Rules may vary.

    Rules

    1. No godmodding or powerplaying.
    2. Under the “Fighting Style” slot in the OC Form, stick to what you put underneath it or I’ll be giving you a warning. If your character relies on brute strength, I don’t want to see him/her making some sort of complex plan. Be as specific as you can on the Fighting Style slot.
    3. Under the “Powers” slot in the OC Form make sure that the powers you pick can relate to each other. For example: The combination of pyrokinesis, shape shifting, and healing would not be allowed. Something along the lines of having the power over three elementals would be more fitting or something like, “control over air, flight, and ice” could be another example of what I’d allow.
    4. Post your OCs in the OOC thread. D:
    5. Please be active and don’t write a bunch of one-line posts.
    6. It’s okay to lose a fight. You don’t have to win every battle. Also, remember not to auto-hit. What I mean is, whenever your fighting a character being controlled by another RPer, don’t assume that the attack will connect. Give people a chance to react.
    7. I reserve the right to add or change the rules as I see fit. Also, I may powerplay/godmod for plot purposes. I won’t abuse this.
    8. Have fun and stay active! 8D
