The ghost is really a shadow of someone outside.

 

Well I'd never heard of the rumor of his ghost.

So this is slightly less mind-blowing.

 

Yes, and "IT'S A GHOST!" is a much more plausible explanation.

 

It would be logical. The source of light seemed to be coming from something in the room itself to cast that shadow. Originally I would have thought of it to be the shadow of one of the reporters with the light source from the door, thereby directly casting a shadow on the fireplace.
