I drove a car for the first time. *inb4howmanypeopledidyoukill* It was only around parking lots and stuff, but still, I did it. :B And I was driving a stick too. c:
Goddammit. *leaves thread* Seriously thought, congrats. I remember the first time I drove a car. My neighbourhood is still traumatized by that day.
A car that isn't an automatic? And thanks guys. <': I kept stalling though, I would freak out and slam on the brakes.
We don't use automatics in the UK, or rarely do. Most cars have gear boxes. I've never driven a car, too expensive for lessons. lol, Misty, that'd be hilarious to watch...from a height. xD
I remember the first time I drove a car I didn't know that you had to keep your foot on the break or else it would start moving even if you didn't have your foot on the gas pedal. I also remember I almost drove off the road and my dad had to take hold of the wheel to make sure I didn't, lol. I was the worst driver ever when I first started out. ;-;
Congratulations. :'D The first time I parked a car was the most tramatizing, because we had this tiny driveway between two houses and I guess I put my foot down too hard on the pedal and we took off and almost crashed into my dads jet skii and my three brothers were in the car. One of them kept yelling, "WE'RE GOING TO DIE, OH DEAR LORD, SWEET JESUS HAVE MERCY." And the two youngest were in that back like, "AHHHHH." Then I finally slammed down on the brake right before we hit the jet skii, and the back of the side-view mirror got scraped by the house on the right. The first time I drove with people happened to be out of town, in the middle of a snow storm. Which was STUPID. Just plain stupid of my mother to make me do that. But I made it to the parking lot of the store we were going to, safely. It's just parking I have a problem with. My mom and her friend were like, "Okay, stop the car. Stop the car. STOP THE CAR." Even though I was trying to park. Apparently I almost went through the window of the store, but I don't recall. I swear I was doing fine until they started panicking...Then again...
I'm an awful driver. I remember when I went with an instructor and they were constantly like, "STAY IN YOUR LANE! STAY IN YOUR LANE! YOUR LANE IS OVER THERE, STAY IN YOUR LANE!" I'm also terrified of oncoming traffic x: needless to say, my mom drives my car more often than I do. Grats though Misty, that sounds exciting 8O.
I think most of us KHV members are going to be stuck with taking public transportation for quite a few years >_> At least that what I'll be doing.
Ah, see, like everyone here drives an automatic, except for a select few. My mom is one of them. I didn't want to be one of the people who cannot drive a stick, so I'm forcing myself to learn on it. And I started to get better towards the end. :x Apparently when you want to slow down you just push the clutch in. Don't feel bad, my sister (who has a license, god only knows how she got it) did/does the same thing. She cannot use a brake properly. Like when she's approaching a light, she gets right up against the person in front of her. It terrifies me. She hasn't had a license for a year probably and she's already gotten into one accident, as well as almost been in one countless times. She's a terrible driver. See, my mom is probably crazier than any instructor, because she is a very aggressive driver and I'm driving her car. I'm afraid to go on the actual roads with her. >_> But thanks. :3 I really envy the people who use public transportation just because I do not fancy paying for gas, but here it's either trains or buses. The buses are gross, and the train isn't great because even if you do take it, you're going to have to walk pretty far to get anywhere worth going. Though my mom is considering purchasing another car, so I'll have access to one at the least. I'd have to share it with one of my sisters though. :/ go away. :c
