Funny, I think he would probably still be helping he may even have been a part of the Kingdom Hearts team
He either would have helped defeat Xemnas, or just left... It would probably involve an argument or something between Sora, Axel and Riku or something... Like Riku not wanting Axel there cause he's still an Organisation member, and Sora being a **** and saying there's nothing wrong with Axel...
Sora would have died and KH2 would have had a very different ending to the one it got. Since you know, the whole reason he sacrificed himself was to make sure that Sora got away and could go finish things properly and ****.

I killed 1000 Heartless by myself." "...Damn." "F'shizzle, brah." Yeeeeah. Anyway, if Axel had lived, he probably would've helped Sora, y'know, not die. Since Sora is Roxas and all. Then he'd probably either argue with Riku or wander off. Somehow I see him being very off-put by how close Sora, Riku, & Kairi are. He'd probably feel like an outsider, Roxas or not.
He probably would've helped kill all the dusks, then just left. He was only interested in turning Sora into a heartless to see Roxas anyway. If he had stuck around, Axel would've betrayed him and gotten his wish.

Did it really? I always wondered how that happened exactly. Has that been officially stated somewhere or is it just heavily implied by something?
Even if it woke up Roxas in Sora, I think that could have happened another way. They would have had to plan that out otherwise. Probably that's why the organization members kept shouting his name before you would battle them. It could have happened another way, though. Namine's happened a different way. As for if Axel hadn't died, he probably would have vanished. He obviously felt bad, but after providing a way to get to her, I can't really see him helping out anymore. If he had, it would have been a total character change. He's shown to have good intentions, and to "care" about others, but he doesn't ever stick around long enough to answer questions.
I would think that Sora wouldn't have accessed his true potential from the fight with Roxas and would have been murdered by Xemnas in two seconds flat. Of course this is assuming the only way Roxas would awaken was if Axel had died.
I agree with this because in Days' intro it says in these words "puts his own intentions first and everything else on the backburner" Getting Roxas back was his intention so he'd left.
I think he would've fought with Sora and helped him until he reached The World That Never Was, and then would've died there trying to help him there...
