What is your reason?

I haven't really posted in the KH sections for fear of spoilers of BBS before it comes out here in September but a question has been nagging at me. Why do you play kingdom hearts? Its a simple question but it's something people don't seem to ask.
The reason that i play the series is because while it deals with deep and dark themes and premises, it restores that childhood innocence that you once cherished without regard of it. It gives me something i can only obtain by playing the series. This series helped me find meaning in things and it made me question certain things i perceived. Kingdom hearts made me into a person.

 

Apart for the graphics, the character designs, the wonderful music and the amazing gameplay, I play it for the storyline that always keeps expanding and the moments that are for pure joy and nothing more. The cutscenes you can enjoy watching without getting bored and the beautiful views from Twilight Town. xD

 

The uniqueness of the whole universe of Kingdom Hearts is something that I always found creatively remarkable. I also personally love the story. I am not much of a gamer so I don't care that much about graphics or replay value,but story is one thing that I tend to notice the most in the RPGs I play. Besides having a unique story, the story also manages to incorpoerate characters who symbolize immaturity and innocence(Disney Characters), and makes them help tell a story with deep sometimes thought inncuring themes.
I have the utmost respect for the people who worked on the story for the KH series for accomplishing this difficult task successfully.

 

Because it's wonderful, I love the gameplay (at least of the original) and the story. There's also just something about Disney movies coming to life, the childhood innocence like you said.

 

I was a huge lover of FFIX and I thought KH would of been similar since I didn't have many games like FFIX when I was younger, so I picked it up and became a fan of it for different reasons. Basically, I loved all the Disney stuff since I do like Disney cartoons and then I liked the sort of way it managed to combine a popular Japanese game with a popular American media company in a strangely fitting way. Plus the giant key for a sword was similar to a weapon I made up in one of those games that I used to play at like 7 years of age xD
Oh, that and the gameplay was really fun and cartoony, which looked good and added to the fun of the game in general.

 

I had bought CoM for the gba and was wondering more about the story after i beat it, so i looked up the original and got hooked.

I was't much of a gamer when I started playing Kingdom Hearts, the most I'd played was a bit of FF8 and some fighting games. I saw the ads for KH, thought the music was cool, and my cousin let me play it when I found it at his house.

I found that playing those games was like reading a book. The storylines and characters are just amazing and they take me far away from anything close to reality, the same way my books do, only I'm more involved with it. And while the graphics and gameplay are awesome, it was finding out what happened at the end that got me addicted xD

 

December 2005. A friend was spending the night over at my house and we were watching television. A show went to commercial and the commercial for COM came up. We had never seen it before. It was the most amazing thing in our eyes. We had never even heard of KH but we both wanted this game. Well we got them at Christmas. Somehow I got mine Christmas Eve. It was the most addicting game ever. I got past Olympus Colosseum before going to bed for Christmas. I was engrossed in the gameplay and thought it was different and unique. I knew nothing of the story so I was a bit confused later on since I didn't know who Kairi was. I didn't even know that the cards you used on the door affected what kind of room it was. Anyways I play the Kingdom Hearts games because I enjoy them. They have good gameplay and always a unique story.

 

Simple. I play it because of the graphics that is has, as well as the music.

Not only that, but meeting new people and allies along the way was the best thing about the game, in my honest opinion.

 

The reason I played it to begin with was because I saw a shot of Scar and Mufasa in the advert. Ever since then I've enjoyed the gameplay aspect and just the general consept of having a game where all Disney worlds join. I now play it because it's Nostalgic to play, every year I play KH2 on my birthday, KH1 at Christmas and Birth By sleep in September since that is when I got the games. I play it because it changed my life and it's my favourite game series out there, I've thoroughly enjoyed each game since then and I will forever love the characters and plot (with all it's confusing ways)

 

I was completely into the story of the first game. And it didn't seem to take a long period of time to get to the good story. As soon as I started playing the game I was interested in the characters and how they interacted with each other. I liked the idea of an RPG game that was more than just a standard command menu system, I found it to be extremely satisfying.

Why do I play this...?

I think the reason I first picked up Kingdom Hearts II because it looked cool...
Disney characters and Final Fantasy? Sign me up.
I've continued to play for the thrilling story, mostly. Along with amazing graphics and gameplay.

 

I play because I love the storyline and characters. I'm also a fan of the graphics.

 

I play it because my brother played it and I wanted to get in on the action, but when I did... it was so different from anything I had played before. It got me so intrigued and curious about the characters, the plot, darkness and light. I had to keep playing. Everything about it, the graphics, the music, the characters, and the worlds it was as if I had stepped into something much bigger. Much greater, and my obsession just grew trying to decipher the plot and what was going to happen next in the series. It's like a piece of my childhood I hold dear now and I'm never letting go. I've made really good friends because of that game. I'll never stop playing because of the sentimental value.

 

I play it, cuz the story line is so ****ing great. ITs like being in a film that doesnt have an end. I started with kh1, and never realised CoM was released so i was waiting ages for kh2. Now i do know theres alot more series, and storyline is getting bigger and bigger. Which makes me wanna play it even more!

I love the way, when i sometimes i show some amv's to friends/family and their like what the hell its Disney? and ur 20? Haha they just dont know what their missing :P

 

Why do I play Kingdom Hearts, you ask?

The game is great, the graphics greats, and especially the story is great. I love Disney and the games of Square Enix are always good as well. But what really is important to me in the game is the friends. Don't matter what, you have friends by your side. There are friends that don't MATTER WHAT, will always be with you. Hard times, sad times... and of course, happy times. Those memorables days will never fade away, your friends will never leave you. I have three bests friends, they're like little brothers to me, they always are by my side, for me it will never change, the proof lies in our time together (and I know them since I was 3 years old).

Cry together, laugh together, and at times fight with other. This is the true friendship.
This is why I play Kingdom Hearts... it says that.

 

I first got into it by the music. Then as I started to play it I got interested into the story line. Since I first played 358/2 Days I was wondering who was sora and all, but at the same time I loved the characters too. The gameplay is really fun so its hard not to like KH in my opinion.
