What's so great about Avatar?

I remember people making a big deal out of the movie, and there are some people that are still freakin' out about it.

What was so great about it? I saw it, and I actually thought it was mediocre.

 

I found it extremely mediocre as well. It was your typical Native American sympathy story and shared the exact same themes are the Disney film Atlantis.

 

So who else thought this was going to be another Airbender topic?

On topic now, Avatar was pretty average. There was nothing special about it, besides the visuals. It's a story that has been done a billion times before.

 

I expect a lot from a movie that's considered "The Best Grossing Film of All Time". I mean, it has to have interesting characters, an interesting plot, and great development.

Avatar had none of that. I didn't really care for any of the characters in the film, bad or good. The plot moved way too slow was not subtle on the message of the film. In fact, there is no subtly in the film at all. I was also falling asleep during a lot of it because it was boring and appeared to have no structure at all. The thing it did have going for it was the visuals. I will say that it was a beautiful looking movie with great effects, but that's all I can really say that's nice about it. The story seemed to be on the back burner for cool looking effects and moments.

And it's also bad when someone is able to guess your entire story before the premiere date. Seriously, there's a South Park episode that makes a joke about it. It was the "Dances with Smurfs" segment that they had, and that happened a while before the movie was shown the the public (and none of the South Park employees had advanced screenings of the film).

I kind of guessed that too. I don't care for that one either.

Avatar is actually about a guy's addiction to World of Warcraft.

 

Spectacle that was achieved with a budget around $237,000,000. Take away the budget and its worthless. Unmemorable one-dimensional characters, a copy-paste story about a member of a dominant party joining the oppressed party to fight the man, and dragged out beauty shots. Seriously the first half of the film felt like I was watching National Geographic. At least the battle scene was awesome, if not completely predictable.

I approve.

 

One thing Avatar is missing: A pollution monster voiced by Tim Curry.

 

With the budget Avatar had, that would have made the movie actually worth watching.

 

Instead we have to stick with Col. Miles Quaritch, HERO OF THE IMPERIUM!

 

True story: that coffee mug cost $1,200 to make.

And even more importantly, that. How could I forget this?

 

I thought this would be about the tv show. Then I was confused because tequila is in the new avatar rp.
Anywho...i thought the avatar movie was stupid. ACTUALLY, I never even finished watching it. Thought it was really boring and fell asleep after the first half hour. Couldn't understand all the hype. My boyfriend felt the same way. We pretty much fell asleep at the same part. Really don't understand how it did so well, other than everyone getting off on the sex scene or whatever. Idk...

 

Hey, when you're the main villain you deserve nothing but the best.

 

...I feel ashamed to say this, but I liked it for a spell. Then I actually thought about the plot, characters, and all the rest. Then I was like "what was I thinking?"

The only things I liked about it are the visuals. and the sex scene
