What I Answered: "It just feels right." What I Wanted to Answer: "Well between the two of us, I'm the more feminine." Ladies, would you have found the second insulting, considering that it was coming from a male whilst watching an episode of Doctor Who?
It sounds insulting regardless, yes. It sounds masculine. I cannot imagine a feminine person saying it.
Honestly, I wouldn't have been insulted if you said it in a way that suggested you were joking. I probably would have laughed and then tried to out-cuddle you. But, that's just me.
Ouch, that hurts... Just try not to assume that someone is complimenting you. It does not reflect well on you when you mistakenly think that someone was praising you, and then act as if, in giving you credit, they made you out to be great. "I'm not that great" is particularly annoying no matter who says it because it reeks of false modesty. It makes it sound like you expected to be praised, or hold a false modesty behind a big ego. It is not wise to make a big deal out of a small praise if you are honestly modest. See: Derek Zoolander: A Model Idiot?. Perhaps I am too serious. I apologize for being so harsh.
Its all right... I do have self esteem issues, but I understand your point. I'll just leave it at that.
