How Anime is childish? Enlighten me. And it is a cartoon but it is insulting to call it a cartoon. :)

Actually, Western Animation is Cartoons, and Japanese Animation is Anime. Then there's Korean Animation, which is called Awesome. But I guess that's like trying to Compare Dorks, Nerds, and Geeks.

I think it's because animation is generally directed at children (I'm speaking for Americans more or less). Disney can take most of the blame for this one. Much of the animation we are exposed to is directed towards children (Lion King, Spongebob, Mickey Mouse, etc.). We just grew up in a world that associated animation with children's cartoons. I watch plenty of anime and I get the "cartoons are for kids" thing all the time.

The real question is why should you care in the first place? If you like it that's fine, if you don't, that's okay too. If your so offended by what other people think, why do you watch it in the first place?

Okay, let me put it simply. It's animation. From Korea. Like this gem of a movie.

Forget animation, Japan has the best live-acting. They had a real dragon in Advent Children after all.

Are you seriously making a whole new thread about this after you posted in Reptar's about this same topic? Please school yourself in the ways of the internet and come back later.

    Think about it this way
    It's all cartoons.
The only difference is that in Americans call it "cartoons" and the Japanese call it "anime."
Same thing, just different regions. As Americans, we call Japanese cartoons "anime" and consider it a different category because they're different from ours, but to them, it just means "cartoons."
At least, I think that's right.

What Jet.User means by "animation" is just cartoons. The biggest difference between our cartoons and Japanese anime is that Japanese anime is Japanese.

Also, don't worry about when people are dicks online~

Technically speaking it's all animation, just called different things in their respective countries. Just like how graphic novels can be referred to as both comics and manga.

I actually consider comics and graphic novels/manga different things. Comics are comical, as suggested by the name. Graphic novels and manga are just about everything else.

And honestly, it doesn't matter whether something is childish or not. What matters is that you enjoy it and it makes you happy.

Anime = cartoons, cartoons = anime; same thing, different country. There are cartoons that could be targeted to or enjoyed by an older audience, and anime is the same way.

What about Deadpool? He too appears in a serialized graphic novel.

Are we seriously getting into this discussion? Can we at least agree that they are both books?
