Beleive me, I'd be the first to say exactly how hard life is, but I'd also be first to say how these struggles have helped me. It's okay to be selfish once in a while, it keeps you from going insane. It's good to help people, but if you are not in a good place, then it won't really benefit anyone.

Hey, Sync, I can tell that you are a guy who just wants to help people. I know because I'm the exact same way. Life will always be hard, beleiver or not, but putting faith in God will give you the best outcome possible. I'm glad that there are Christians like you out there who want to make a difference in the world. "By standing firm, you will gain life" (Luke 2:19). With the threads, you really should've checked the date on those. It's just a small mistake though.

I have some advice for you. Find the movie "To Save A Life" and book "Crazy Love" by Francis Chan. I'm not trying to advertise their products, but they've helped me in my life, teaching me how to be a better Christian.
