    Kyubey (Myst)
Wally and Brendan walked into the building to see a group of trainers. Trainers they had not seen from a long time ago. Brendan noticed Sapphire and began to blush a tad. It was a long time sense he saw her. Wally saw everyone else and began to cough from is illness. He ran up to them with cheer "Hey Yellow, Red, Leaf, Gold, everyone. It has been such a long time sense we last saw each other." He began to cough again, putting on an Oxygen mask to help his breathing. Norman told him he should stay in higher altitudes because of this. Brendan just waved his hand to the others. He was sort of hoping to avoid May. He didn't need another talk with her about her "feelings" towards him.

Seeing Crystal with Silver in another room over, Wally smiled and ran to her. He moved the door separating the two rooms and noticed the look of pain and regret in her eyes. What happened to the cheery girl he knew as a child. The one who lent him her Pokemon. "Crys, a-are you okay.?" As he said this hoping not to be snarled by Silver.

Steven stood there smiling. It was always nice to see a colleague from the days he was in the champion of the Hoenn region. Now he just wandered around collecting stones for his hobby. Sometimes he would come across a very powerful trainer. He would never forget that battle he had at the Meteorite Falls. "I just came in with Wally and Brendan. They should be catching up with the others. Shall we join them?"

The sun came down, giving intense heat waves around the region. The feeling I had when it came down was like that of a Macargo, sleeping on my skin. But that only lasted for a few moments. The next sensation was that of a downpour. Heavy rain came down nearly drowning me from how thick it really was. The cycle repeated off and on for hours on end. Nobody including me had any idea what was going on in the Hoenn region. After a while though, the extreme weather changes just vanished.

A day passed and the news had finally given us all a run down on what happened. I was only nine at the time so I could only understand half of it. The woman named Gabby and her camera man Ty had the complete story. It seemed that the groups known as Team Magma and Team Aqua had acquired the powers of the Legendary Pokemon: Groudon and Kyogre. A trainer by the name of Brendan had successfully stopped them from warping the Hoenn region and the world.

Shortly after the events, that boy became the Pokemon Champion. He was a real inspiration for me. I knew after hearing his achievements on his Pokemon journey through Hoenn, I too wanted to be a Pokemon Trainer! The past leaders, Steven and Wallace, I heard traveled to the Unova region after training to participate in the Pokemon World Tournament. I hope to hear from that soon.

    Usagi Tsukino (Shiki)
    Drip drip drip, kerplunk.

With each step, my heart beat faster and faster. The roads were lit by not only the lights of the building, but by the beautiful moon that was caught in an eternal residence over the city. Here and there, buildings had boarded up doors or broken windows. A few cars littered the streets, but only every quarter mile or so. There was a huge clearing ahead; the town square perhaps? Stopping and resting on a bench, I looked up to the sky and began to worry myself.

'What am I doing? Surely if I ran, they would come look for me.'

I grew sadder as I thought this and only knew it was a matter of time before I was caught and sent back to that white place. That place that had no reason for being there, but it was. I quickly stood up and walked over to a water fountain. It was silver but looked as if it began to rust. Strangely, the spout hadn't rusted just yet so the water is presumably safe. Gathering water in my hand, I began to splash my face. The city looked as if it were cold, but it really was hot if you wore this skin tight cloak.

Ages ago, there was a world that had a large crystal in it's center. This crystal was what made the inhabitants of this world live and thrive, giving them the energy they needed to do extraordinary tasks. Women were able to heal and mend wounds that would almost certainly be fatal. Men would create things for the world. At first, they were divided and could not come to an agreement on who would rule over this world. It was then that a man rose to power who would end up destroying the world.

His name was Asura and he had a following that grew by the years. By the time he had grown to be eighty, he had grown tired of playing around with the rulers of the world and waged a war. He won and soon they were keeping all the precious energy of the great crystal to themselves. Unbeknownst to them, a smaller group of seven women gathered together to take him down. While Asura had the power, he could not control the Great Crystal as much as a woman could. It was then that the group, calling themselves the Seven Sages, were finally able to cut off the energy supply to Asura's army. The Seven Sages charged into his castle and defeated each of his men and sparing the ones that did not fight. The leader of the Seven Sages, Adi Parashakti, confronted Asura himself. He gazed upon the leader of the Seven Sages and bowed to her. He swore fealty and was spared the same fate as many of his own men.

    Procrastination
It has become a bit too much,
I got too much on my plate.
I've got a lot of things to do,
    this really is not great...

I have about twelve things due
    I have 8 halfway done,
Do I want to stress myself out,
    or disappoint everyone.

I should have done it earlier
when all I did was goof.
Now I'm stuck in a panic attack,
    This poem is the proof.
    In the Family
    In the Family

    I was always told
    that killing is wrong,
    that life is sacred,
    that love should be strong.

    I took it to heart
    believed in it fully,
    showed it in believed it
    never once was a bully.

    But as I grew older
    the world seemed to change
    I couldn't control it
it was out of my range.

    Another thing told
    a home propaganda
    my family's always right
    in their business and a

    friend or a lover
    it did not matter who
    was no more important
    than dirt on a shoe.

    Turns out my upbringing,
    was quite a lie,
    for more than a decade
    they were mafiosi

    One day they tested me,
    and on that one day
    my brother was tasked,
    had someone to slay.

    His victim they chose
    was my lover, my friend,
    Emily, she owed money
which of course he did lend.

    I told him he couldn't
    my family was mad
    at me not my brother
    I found it quite sad.

    My father agreed
if I got in the way
    my blood would be spilled
    t'was the cost to betray.

I was selfish, I stayed silent
    and lost Emily,
    my love's blood was spilled
    I chose family.

    The flashes in the dark,

    He hears the voices crying
    and, knowing what to do,
    he calms them all down
just like he was taught to.

    Several breaths are taken,
    then the mask is passed.
    Each person holding on
    with each and every gasp.

    The floor starts to creek
    beneath their weary feet.
    He thinks about his children
    and not about the heat.

    A Sweet and Sour Thing

Dreams are nothing more than shadows knocking at the door.
Our hopes and prayers thrown to despair and tossed about the floor.
I can't decide what's real and what is make believe.
Time is short and bitter for which all we must achieve.

With each passing moment I can feel my heart beat faster.
The time grows near when we must all answer to one master.
The master of our fates and the master of our minds.
Listen to yourself and the master you will find.

For who else would control us if not for ourselves.
For whom exactly is the ringing of the bells.
Live life and know your ending will await.
Fear not when you are brought to death's sweet gate.

    WHAT'S THIS?
The Best AMV category is unique in that users are allowed to nominate their own video for this prestigious award. The userbase will then be polled on the submissions during Cycle 4 of the User Awards.

HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE TOP 5?
The Top 5 is judged weekly by one of our staff members. In the User Awards, quite fittingly, it'll be your peers who decide the winner!

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?
Simply post within this thread with the link to your video (preferably on YouTube). While you're at it, why not upload your video to our Video Portal?

An AMV of any nature is allowed (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, Naruto, anything!) so long as it is appropriate & within our site rules. There are no time limits or restrictions. The video must have been finished within the awards period (anytime after August of 2013).

Videos are due by the end of Cycle 3 of the User Awards (around July 20th) at 11:59PM (Eastern)--meaning your video must be finished, uploaded, and posted by that date. No late submissions will be accepted.

Any questions, feel free to ask.

Hey everyone. As you know, during the User Awards last year, we decided to conduct the 'Worst Male/Female/etc.' categories on a self nomination basis; that is, you would only be nominated and put on the poll if you nominate yourself. This was done due to concerns regarding behavior & such during the year preceding last year's awards.

A few people, however, have come forward and said they would like these categories to revert back to how they used to be -- which was an open nomination basis.

As a result, this will be a poll to gauge which people would prefer to have.

    To describe the options briefly:

Self Nominations: You and you alone can only nominate yourself for the 'Worst' categories. You can rescind your nomination at any point of it does make you uncomfortable later on, preferably before the poll is made.

Open Nominations: Anyone can nominate you for the 'Worst ' categories. If you are nominated and end up lines to be in the poll, you will be contacted right after nominations are all tallied and have the option to remove yourself from the poll if you are uncomfortable with it.

Doesn't matter: Who cares??? If this does end up getting a majority of the votes, then I will take it as keeping self nominations as they aren't bothered by it.

Poll lasts till Saturday night. Vote on.

    Question Time with...

    luminous!

A couple of guidelines before you begin..

1 - Keep it within the rules of the forum, nothing over PG-13. This is still KHV, which means that you must not use this thread as an excuse to berate or harass the Question Time participant. That being said...

2 - ...The Question Time participant does not have to answer all of the questions.

3 - The Question Time participant must maintain some level of activity within this thread. Don't leave all of your questions unanswered. You're in the spotlight, baby, so shine!

4 - Give the Question Time participant some time to answer, and let others have a chance to ask. Remember that they are in the spotlight for at least one week, so do not feel the need to barrage him/her with a lengthy list of questions all at once.

And now that you have read the rules, you may ask away!~

Hey everyone! Summer's here, and if you've been a member here for at least a year, you know what that means. If you're a new member around the block, or just haven't noticed them too much before, the annual KH-Vids User Awards is finally here!

Join us in a friendly, unserious (yeah right!) competition to elect members and content for a variety of categories. Nominations are quite a ways off at the moment, but we are accepting category nominations up until June 7th! After this, the Awards will kickstart and the fun can really get going.

For more information on how the Awards work, please see the Info & FAQ thread.
To submit categories, please see the Category Suggestions thread!
If you have any questions, please message Plums and/or Jayn, and we'll be more than happy to get back to ya!

Hey everyone! As some of you may know, the User Awards run every summer. It is getting time for the 2014 Awards! Typically the User Awards are covered by @Misty, but this time, you will be governed by the lovely mother-son duo, @Jayn and @Plums! This thread will have some general information on the Awards, and is your go-to spot for any questions or suggestions you might have (excluding category suggestions).

    Nominating
    When will nominations be opened?
When category submissions have ended, nominations will be opened. This will likely be mid to late June.

How many members can I nominate per category? Can I nominate myself?
You may nominate two members per category. For couple categories (e.g. Cutest Fake/Real Couple, Best Bromance, etc.), you may nominate two couples; for thread categories, two threads, and so on.

Do note that for “worst” categories (e.g. Worst Female Member), you may only nominate yourself. Nominations for other users will be discarded. These are the only categories in which you may nominate yourself; however, for couple categories, you may nominate a couple you are a part of.

When nominating, use a member’s current username. Nicknames, real names, or former usernames will be discarded.

Please do not nominate inactive members. The 2014 User Awards cover the period from the end of the 2013 Awards (roughly August of 2013) to the present, so consider that when nominating. For example, if Joey was a Sectional Moderator in February of 2013, but left in March of 2013, do not nominate him for Best Sectional Moderator 2014.

How do I send in my nominations?
When nominations are opened, staff members accepting nominations will be listed. Please send only one message to each staff member. For example, even though you are sending Xavier your Thread Nominations and Best/Worst Member Nominations, just include it all in one message.

Please directly copy and paste the categories. You do not have to nominate for each category—just leave an N/A in the space. For example, even if I choose to not nominate anything for Thread Nominations, I will still include it in my message.

    Voting
    Public Polls & Alternate Accounts
Polls will be public, therefore we can check if someone is creating alternate accounts to boost votes for a particular member. If you are found doing so, you will be removed from this year’s awards, and will face our typical alternate account punishment.

Likewise, other users can see who you are voting for.

    Can I vote for myself?
You may only vote for yourself in a couple category (e.g. if Joey and Jim are in the running for Best Bromance, Joey can vote for the Joey & Jim Bromance).

In other categories, if you vote for yourself, you will be dropped from the category.

I want to change my vote!
If the poll is still open, message Misty about changing your vote.

    Misc.
If you would like to withdraw from the User Awards entirely, message me and I will take you out of any category you’re nominated for. I can also remove you from any polls you appear in. Please do keep in mind, however, that the awards are all in good fun—so don’t feel too bad if you’re submitted for Biggest Post Whore!

If you have any other questions or suggestions, feel free to reply to this thread. Have fun!
Thread by: Plums, May 26, 2014, 2 replies, in forum: 2014

Below is the category list thus far. Within this thread, you can suggest potential categories for this year's awards. Please keep in mind that category suggestions should be accessible by many members--use your better judgement.

Newly added categories will be listed in blue, and rejected submissions will be listed under 'rejected' (naturally). Please check the rejected list before suggesting to make sure it's not already been rejected. Nominations are not open during this time.

We are making an effort to condense the category list this year so if there are categories you feel could go, feel free to suggest that.

    Happy suggesting!

So I've been playing Transistor and beat it today. I have quite a few thoughts on it (this sounds bad but it isn't, lol) and will probably post them later. HOWEVER there's a New Game+ option and I've heard there aren't really any spoilers within it (much like Bastion's NG+), so I was thinking of streaming it at some point.

I finally finished my semester, so I can start whenever. idk if anyone would be interested in watching, so if you would be just I can definitely arrange for it.

Hey everyone! I've got some more site news for ya today, and while it may not be as big as the post counting mod, it's an interesting new thing nonetheless! We've got a brand new section ready for some posting! As brought up in the past by @What?, and recently suggested by @Ars Nova, a new section has been added to the Writer's Nook!

To give a brief overview of its purposes, the Works & Rec section will be used to:
    • discuss topics and aspects of writing as both a craft and personal pleasure
    • exchange prompts and exercises
    • build collaborative projects
    • ...and much more!

For a more in-depth look at the rules, please click here and read. A big thanks to @Ars Nova for compiling some initial content and discussion for everyone to sink their teeth into and build upon in the future!

    Post Ratings
    build version: arbitrary numeral
    based on discussion here: x

    Table of Contents

    Brief Overview of Post Ratings
Post Ratings, designed by Luke Foreman, is a vast improvement upon XenForo's built-in "Like" system. With the ability to add, subtract, and adjust the Like system to your liking (haw haw), your forum will be able to create a unique way for forum members to evaluate posts, and have the confidence to say that their posts are worth more than a simple "like".

    Features of Post Ratings include:
    • Fully Customizeable Ratings: You can create as many and whatever ratings you would like! There is no limit, and your creative potential can soar.
    • Forwards and Backwards Compatible with XenForo: Likes before implementing Post Ratings will pass on as "Likes" in the new system. If you decide to remove the add-on for whatever reason, all ratings made will be counted as Likes (negative ratings will also carry over, but subtract from your Like count).
    • Ratings Moderation: Staff members with the appropriate permissions can remove ratings on posts. This allows staff to take action on "Dislike Campaigns" in a similar vein to Mass Negative Rep Sprees on vBulletin.
    • Postbit and Member Card Inclusion: Ratings can show on your postbit, either in a bar or a list of the type of Ratings (Positive, Neutral, and Negative) you have received. The List Style may also appear on the Membercard.

    • Member List Integration: You can search the Member List by who has the Most Positive, Most Neutral, and Most Negative Ratings on the board, similar to the previous functioning of vBulletin.
    • Alerts/News Feed/Recent Activity/Rating You've Received: This functions pretty much the same as it does currently. However, you can now also view Ratings You've Given, which allows you to see every Rating you've ever given in the past!
    • Admin Interface: Admins are given more flexibility, with the ability to enable and disable certain Ratings in certain sections of the forum.
    • Trophy System: Receive materials for the Pin Shop for each level of Rating you achieve!
As you can see, there is quite a bit of flexibility offered with the Post Ratings system, which will enable the forum a similar experience that vBulletin's Reputation had to offer, but with a greater ability to refine and tailor as we go forward with the site.

    Weaknesses of Post Ratings
Despite its many features, Post Ratings does have a few notable weaknesses:

    1. Lack of a Built in Limit
Post Ratings does not have a built in limit for its ratings. This would mean that it would be similar to the way Likes currently function, in that members can give out an unlimited amount of ratings. This has the potential to see abuse on both sides of the matter, with certain groups raining positive ratings on one another, and others using it to rain negative ratings on those they see fit.

    2. Lack of a Commentary System
This is also a weakness of the current Likes system. Members are unable to give commentary with their ratings. In my opinion, I don't see this as much of a detractor, but I know many members have expressed interest in getting this feature back. At the time of posting, the developer has stated that he has no plans for adding a commentary system. However, a few other forum owners/administrators on the XenForo Community site have expressed a similar interest in this system.

    Solutions
In the past few days, I've been looking throughout the XenForo Community site in search of additional add-ons to alleviate the aformentioned weaknesses. While the comments one is out of our hands currently, there is an add-on to add a limit to likes and is fully functional with Post Ratings. However, it does have a wee price tag of $5.00.

If we are unable to acquire the add-on, my solution is to simply disable the Dislike feature.

    Current Progress: Testing & Beyond
Post Ratings is installed and running on a testing site for KHV. Currently, the setup looks like the following:

As you can see in the screenshot above, the ratings will be accessed right below the signature. They can be either entirely hidden until hovered over, as displayed there, or showing fully at all points in time. Additionally, they can be placed below the post controls (as pictured there), or above the signature line.

View attachment 38248 As you can see, it ends up looking ugly as ****.

Once you rate a post, an overlay with all the people who rated that post will show. This will include the type of rating that they've given.

An unfortunate side to this is that this feature is public. If you give a negative rating to someone else's post, everyone will be able to see that rating. I'm still looking into this aspect, but I don't believe it is too much of a downside at the moment (especially considering that, in the past, you could see the person who had derepped you, though it was only between the two people).

As mentioned earlier, staff members are able to moderate these ratings and remove them if there is evidence of abuse/mass like campaigns.

Additionally, to explain why some things regarding the ratings (white boxes, etc.) looks off in the images, the styling is still very much a work in progress! We haven't really had the time to get running with it yet, so everything is still at the most basic stages.

This is especially true of the icons. Llave has signed up to put together some excellent ones for us, but I told him to wait a bit so we can hamper out one of the most important parts of the process, and one of the bigger reasons I'm writing this thread up for you guys:

    Outline
Over the past few months, I've thought of a potential system we could implement for Post Ratings. As a result, I've come up with the following. This is a very, very rough draft, mind you, and as such is obviously subject to changes and improvements as we move along and talk this out.

The possible ratings that I believe we could use are:

Rating Type of Rating Forums to Be Enabled In Explanation
Like Positive All Basically what we have now. You see a post, it makes you chuckle, giggle, PTERODACTYL SCREECH, or whatever. You say "i like this, i like this" and click the button while hopefully not saying it to yourself more than twice.
Useful Positive Feedback & Assistance, Code Vault, Technology There's usually quite a bit of referential things posted in these sections that you can often look back on and refer to. The Code Vault is riddled with codes, Technology has quite a few threads about tech and advice on browsers/computers/etc., and Feedback & Assistance can utilize this to show support for a suggestion and such if you might be too busy to post right away or are unsure how to voice your support.
Informative Positive Kingdom Hearts (all), Interests (all) A lot of topics in these forums revolve around discussion and can open someone's eyes to something they hadn't realized or considered before, or teach someone something they didn't know about. Posts such as Claw's on Prescriptivism vs Descriptivism, libre's thread on the Next Gen Systems, the many show/movie/book reviews, and even explanations and theories on Kingdom Hearts set out to inform people of what things are and what the possibilities could be, and I don't think a simple 'like' really expresses that too much.
Creative Positive SpamZone, Playground, Creativity Corner There are quite a few really inventive things that have spawned from the SpamZone and the Playground, such as the KH-Vids Unlocked game and Jiku's choose your own adventure story. I think it will also help bolster more confidence in people to post in the post counting creative sections as well. Even if there may not currently be too much in the way of replies, as often goes in the Writer's Nook as of late, having a way to say "I am not sure what to say, but this is really creative!" can help give the appreciation you may not be able to phrase right after reading.
Dislike Negative All Can't really have a "Like" without "Dislike" ha. Jokes aside, this one is very much up to the community to decide if they would like or not. In the Why Rep Should Return: Our Posts Are Worth More Than a Like thread, I've seen valid arguments from both those who would be in support of a 'negative rep' and those against it. I don't have a current preference, but I do want to reiterate that if we do not get the Like Limit mod mentioned above, Dislike will be disabled.
Agree & Disagree Neutral Kingdom Hearts (all), Debate Corner To be honest these are rather last minute ones I thought of recently. I think they'd be good for inspiring continuation of (peaceful) discussion. It may help you to refine your argument for a theory or what you're siding with more, and since both would be neutral, it wouldn't take or add anything to your Like count.

    Conclusion
From my perspective, I believe Post Ratings is our best option to both create a system that has some of the merits of the Reputation system while also enhancing our current Like system. With it, I believe we'll be able to have the best of both, and can easily and swiftly improve it as we move ahead with the future.

What I need you guys to do is to read through this thread and give feedback on the ratings suggested, as well as suggest your own!

At most, three suggested ratings can be added. I would like to keep our initial pool of them on the small side so we can judge effectiveness and tweak them more easily as opposed to going through like 10-15.

There has been a lot of support for an improved Like system, and I really want you all to be able to get involved with the change and help shape it up to be something the community would enjoy for quite a while.

    FAQ
Yes! In the Admin CP, there is an option to disable showing the amount of Positive/Neutral/Negative ratings one has received.

At the current moment, we will only be showing the amount of positive ratings you've received.

Good question! Likes will remain the same when we go to Post ratings. If we install & ever decide to uninstall Post Ratings, your Likes will not be affected. The ratings will be converted into Likes. Say I had 4000 Likes, 2 Dislikes, and 5 Neutrals. The 2 Dislikes would count as someone "unliking" a post of mine, and the 5 Neutrals will not effect anything, leaving me with a count of 3998 post-uninstall.

Nope! The numbers are unlinked, and just show how many ratings you've received and dealt out. I'm still looking into disabling the table and only showing the bar/numeral, but yeah.
