Here in this thread, you may sign up to build playlists of recommended music for other members. However, instead of just a general post, you'll be assigned a random member from this sign up list, and give them music you think they'd really be able to get into.

In a sense, it is similar to our Secret Santa event, but instead of gifts you get to spread and expand your own musical taste.

For the most part, I'd urge you to work off genres as much as possible, to introduce a wider variety of artists to another person. However, if you know a few songs by said artist that they might not know (either because it's not as popular or that person is just getting into them), you can feel free to include them in your playlist.

    [IMG] P l a y l i s t ?

For this event, we'll be using this nifty site called 8tracks. While it does require sign up, it's very user friendly and the upload process is quite simple. It also let's you add your own album cover to personalize it (max size is 500x500), and it is even YouTube compatible! Tutorial coming soon.

    1. All Main Site Rules and the Music Section's Rules apply.

    2. At least 5-10 tracks per playlist. This is to ensure a more broad range of things are presented rather than just a playlist filled with your top favorite band.

    3. Sign-Ups will be reopened every week. With school going on and all, I understand that time may be pretty short for most. For convenience's sake, everyone has a week to build their playlist and award it to their assigned person. However, as with Secret Santa, if you do not hand in your playlist by the designated date, I WILL TRACK YOU DOWN.

In my settings back on vB I used to have it set so that it disabled me from seeing signatures and avatars across the forum so the page would load a wee bit faster on slower machines, sorry bbies </3).

I know XenForo allows you to disable signatures, but I was wondering if there was any way to disable avatars too.

Hey kids! I know you may have been expecting our resident Babyblue posting these, but since Uncle RvR is giving her "the talk" (she's nearing womanhood), Jayn, Enzy, Chev and I are bringing you your winners of the 2012 User Awards!

As Jayn had posted the winners of Cycle One, it's time to give a round of applause to the winners of Cycle 2, the Artistic Awards!

    Best Photographer
Last Year's Winner: Catch the Rain
    Last Year's Runner-up: DPWolf

With a camera in hand, these peeps scour the world for some beautiful shots. You think Jade has got some top notch beauts, but DPWolf got some dazzlers herself.

    Best Traditional Artist
    Last Year's Winner: T A F F Y
    Last Year's Runner-up: DPWolf

Although compoopers and Photoshop are growing in popularity, these talented folk still show what's up with their pen and paper. KHV thinks Dinny is the artist every man deserves, but Rat showin' his goods to the world too.

    Best Graphic Artist
    Last Year's Winner: Jayn
    Last Year's Runner-up: Misty

You gawk at their tags and hunt them down to the doors of their shop to make some just for you! This year, you're digging the style of Axis, but Jayn's not too shabby herself.

    Best Fanfiction
Last Year's Winner: Blood of the Cascade
    Last Year's Runner-up: The Flurry - Axel's Story

With heads spinning after seeing some fantastic film, reading an entralling book, or even just hearing rumors from friends, the youngins of the web choose to expand upon worlds created by others and put their own spin on things. This year, KHV believes Guardian Soul and What's Disconnect takes the prize! Misty's Infra isn't too far off canon either!

    Best KH-Vids Fanfiction
    Last Year's Winner: N/A
    Last Year's Runner-up: N/A

A new award implemented this year. Always wondered what Kitty as Overlord Admin Supreme would be like? These stories make such nightmares dreams possible! KHV believes Plums' KHV: Cascadia to be an interesting what-if, but Chevalier's KHV: Carnival has got it going on too.

    Best Original Story
    Last Year's Winner: N/A
    Last Year's Runner-up: N/A

If fanfictions aren't your forte, there's still people out there that put out some very decent originals. You feel Jiku Neon's Darunter is one for the books, but Clawtooth's Cargo treads nicely along the river too.

    Best Overall Writer
Last Year's Winner: Catch the Rain
    Last Year's Runner-up: Jayn

Being a writer isn't all it's cracked up to be. It's arduous work to get your stuff up to what you think is par, but the pay-off is great. This year, you believe Sforzato, Saxima and Plums are all some top notch writers.

    Best Poet
Last Year's Winner: Catch the Rain, TheMagicalMisterMistoffelees
    Last Year's Runner-up: SkyCat

These people got the rhyme, though they words sublime, they beats slicka' than fine. According to KHV, Sumi knows how to drop it like its hot, but Plums has some pretty sick beats too.

    Most Improved Writer
    Last Year's Winner: Ploo-Hems
    Last Year's Runner-up: Night171

These people evolve with each letter they type: that's how a story works. Those words will leave a hole in the center of the universe: the drafts left behind and the revisions that will follow, both blend together to create a piece better than it's predecessors! And that is true improvement, that is a true writer! According to KHV,Clawtooth and Guardian Soul are the ones that CREATE THE HEAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Best Video Editor
Last Year's Winner: Ace Phoenix, turntechGodhead
    Last Year's Runner-up: jojo13

You see them in the Video Portal and love their MEP parts! These members are truly video savvy, and know how to hook you within 2-3 minutes tops. KHV believes Stardust is the biggest catch here, andSacredlith has got a steady following too.

    Most Improved Video Editor
    Last Year's Winner: N/A
    Last Year's Runner-up: N/A

Another new addition to our line up! As there was only one nominee, there was no poll for this one. However, you should still give ~Cat a hearty cheer.

    Best Roleplay
Last Year's Winner: Pride of the Organization, The Ultimate Crossover RP, Culprit
    Last Year's Runner-up: Grimm Academy

These roleplays tend to get you hooked. In fact, some of you may not have even left to see me write this! In any case, KHV feels Crossover Cove is where the party's at, but The STRANGE andWelcome to the Velvet Room are pretty bangin' too.

    Best Roleplay Concept/Story
Last Year's Winner: The Ultimate Crossover RP
    Last Year's Runner-up: Forgotten Insanity

These roleplays have a spark as far as they eye can see. If they were money, spdude would be rollin' all throughout the threads. The ballots are in, and Crossover Cove captures the most hearts, but Ascension itself is also quite lovely.

    Best Roleplay Graphics
    Last Year's Winner: Synchronicity
Last Year's Runner-up: Final Fantasy XIII: Slaves of Fate

These roleplays are puckered up and ready to hit the town tonight! KHV believes Garden of Rose: The 9th Eve is a real eye catcher, but The Hunger Games is quite radiant too.

    Best Roleplayer
    Last Year's Winner: Jayn
    Last Year's Runner-up: Twilight_Nobody13

One minute they're Roxas, the next minute they're Optimus Prime leading a valiant charge against Megatron. KHV believes Jayn is a master of character disaster, but Nagisa Adelheid (DarkTraitor) has a few tricks up his sleeve too.

    Biggest Godmodder
    Last Year's Winner: Graxe
    Last Year's Runner-up: Daxma, Riku1186, Ansem59, Protector 212, hyuge-of-twilight

These people have got more loopholes up their sleeve than Nomura, and aren't afraid to use them. KHV thinksBushy Brow is a real mastermind in the arena, but starseeker3 is not far behind.

    Fastest Roleplay Responder
    Last Year's Winner: terminallyCapricious
    Last Year's Runner-up: Twilight_Nobody13

You see them rollin' in a thread and post an essay before you can bat an eye. Aerith G. is a real speed demon in the reply relay, but don't underestimate Midnight Star either.

    Most Fun Roleplayer

    Last Year's Winner: N/A
    Last Year's Runner-up: N/A

Another new category this year! These people put a smile on your face every time you walk in (and in some cases, even offer to dance with you!). KHV believes Droid is a bucket of fun in the sun, but Midnight Staris pretty fun loving too.

    Most Improved Roleplayer

    Last Year's Winner: terminallyCapricious
    Last Year's Runner-up: Twilight_Nobody13

This hand of their glows with an awesome power! It's burning grip tells them to defeat their limits and evolve even further! TAKE THIS: their love, their dedication, and all of their effort! Midnight Star, followed by Hero of Time, GO GO GO GOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Most Likely to Quit a Roleplay

    Last Year's Winner: Fayt-Harkwind
    Last Year's Runner-up: Dr. Wigglz

You see them join, then they fall to the haysides. KHV believes Machina is too busy saving the world with Rem to stay for RPs, but VentusPSPAqua, Korosu and starseeker3 are running around too.

And that concludes Cycle Two! Congrats to all participants, and hope to see you around next year!

    Café Session # 2
    Literate Beans Group: Here

Hey all! I know we've been on a bit of a hiatus, but it's time to get this pot stirring. :B

Anyway, as our last session focused on why we write and the motivations behind it, we figured for this session we'd go back to the roots of your writing experience.

What was the first thing you've written? This can be a story, a poem -- pretty much anything creative that you've written. What inspired you to write this? How much time did you spend on it? What did other people say about it?

In addition, looking back, do you feel you have improved? How did you grow as a writer from then to now? If you could, would you revisit your first works and rewrite them?

    Feel free to pull up a chair, stretch those legs and enjoy the chat. o;

Another one from me oh man. This is definitely my favorite thing I've written this year, and honestly continue to like it months after I've written it. Also about misunderstanding in relationship dynamics, also a quickie.

The silence is rancorous. They live in an apartment by the beach. Usually, the silence isn’t there; it’s hidden underneath the clamor of tourists, of the high school students with sunscreen and Red Bull. Yet now, it all fades away, ghosts of the cigarette smoke that hang above their faces. It’s nothing but wisps now.

One of them shifts in the bed. He doesn’t know if it’s his body drawing closer to her, or her pulling back. His eyes are closed, so he can’t really see her. Yet he can see her behind his eyelids. He can see her in between his fingernails, even in the dirtied folds of the pants he wore the day before. He wonders if she can see him too. Perhaps she can see the quiver of his nose as he’s about to laugh, her eyes hiding beneath her bangs. She may see his chubby stomach as her sand filled fingernails burrow through the laundry in those early Saturday morning cleanings. Maybe, just maybe, she can even see him when he’s not there, when he’s lost beneath clouds of alcohol and stale smoke.

But that does not mean she wants to touch him. She rolls her head to the opposite end of her pillow, eyes closed. She’s staring at him from nothing. He’s there, she can see him; but she does not want to touch him. She does not want to feel his flesh. The touch of his skin reminds her of her father, the long nights of harsh words and drunken stupor. She doesn’t remember much of her actual father; he is lost to her, has been since she was first born. All she knows is the mask he hides behind, the one of empty beer bottles and the weed that sent her mother insane. She does not want to touch that man, nor this one beside her now. His skin against her only serves to make her collapse into herself, to realize this life is nothing but the same beat of the surf against the foundations of the house.

They shift towards each other. He reaches out to her, but she does not take him. Their eyes are still closed, but they see each other all too clearly.

    The Old Woman

I wrote this for class a few months ago, definitely one of my favorite things I've written so far.

It is pretty much a two prong flash fiction, told from the viewpoint of a woman and her husband. I was trying to convey a general misunderstanding in relationships, which I believe I did well but I also wrote it so.

    CnC please bbies. <3

Her persona is a doll. It is the mask that existed past the wood of her bones, over the plasticity of the rows of veins interlocked to her person. Whereas the mask of her self is wholly customizable, and even the mask of her shadow twists and lurches with each step forward, the doll's mask does not budge. It remains frozen upon her face; it becomes her and is her. It is her in the now, a child standing before the mirror over the sink, staring at the toothpaste dribble from her lips. It will be her then, elderly woman, staring into the abyss of the cove. It is here she will then search the waters for her face, reaching through the surface to claim what awaited beyond the mask, beyond the plasticity for something more. But the water will not be a window. Then it will only be another mirror, another reflection of the mask staring back at her.

She is by the cove again. I try not to think about it as I continue my stroll around the riverside. We have been married for about thirty years. I always considered her to be the most radiant being on this world. Even in childhood, I remember likening to a goddess misplaced, someone who belongs in some place better than here, than this. I think she knows it, too. Ever since youth, I always find her staring off into some water body or glass -- anything, really, that reflected her graceful image. Sometimes, I think she's obsessed with it. Who can blame her, I guess? Object of affection, harbinger of love wishes; she is a doll. She is my doll. Her eyes on me send ripples through my body, casting me back to that boyish dream of a perfect wife, a spitting image of perfection. I guess that is why she reaches into the cove. She tries to find perfection when it simply looks back upon her. Why look for a window when the reflection is enough?

I was avoiding posting here but then I remembered I am horrible at solving things myself so :v

It's nothing terribly serious, just a crush on my best friend. I am p. sure admitting my feelings will do nothing to impair our friendship, as a similar bump in the road occurred three years ago. However, I do, for some reason, have a problem talking about it with her face to face.

For the past year, I haven't been terribly attracted to people offline, and had been focusing primarily more on an online friend (which then worked and then we split on friendly terms about a month ago). But now that there's actually someone I'm attracted to in real life, I'm nervous about actually vocalizing my feelings?

It's far easier for me to say how I'm feeling over a text based format, but I feel this is more of a matter that my friend and I should discuss face to face and not over an online client. Every time I get close to bringing the subject up, I just get this panic-y feeling of "ALEX YOU WILL SOUND DUMB THIS WILL GO SO MUCH MOE HORRIBLE DO IT LATER". And that has been going on for about a week, and it's getting tiring. :L

I don't know, while I want to have a face to face (or at least, voice to voice) conversation about it, should I just settle for an IM based system or try and suck it up and speak face to face (and likely cower out of it again).

    << A Reading and Writing Family >>

Hey everyone! Clawtooth, Stardust, Chevalier and I have been discussing this for a few months, and now it's finally all set and ready to go! Literate Beans is basically a reading and writing family, located in the Forum Families section.

Literate Beans will offer members a chance to become more involved in the events of the Writer's Nook and Literature sections, which include (and probably expand past); Prose of the Season/Poetic ars nova Season (PotS and PanS) and Book Club. For more info, please check out the Literate Beans thread.
