EDIT: Well, my computer is in front of the window am I'm too lazy to close the curtains, plus, I don't even think it's raining.

Go to bed, cover your head with a pillow and start screaming, then just make a lot of noise, but not loud enough to annoy everybody in the house, that's what i did in a thunderstorm, lucky i slept.

 

...I honesty don't see how anyone could be afraid of a sound.

I have the exact same problem.It's okay,though,everybody's scared of something.
Just cover your head in a blanket or something,listen to music on a portable device,or have a loved one hold you.Whatever makes you feel comfortable,that always works best.
