Spoiler On a more serious note, I dislike The Hunger Games because of popularity bias. Touch luck, fans of the series; you will have to impress me elsewhere.
I dislike The Hunger Games because it is popular. No one that I trust likes it, and no one who likes it has read and liked the books that I like.
You liked the Pern series? I'm impressed. I will consider it... Though I am still rather skeptical. I dropped the Inheritance series, for instance...
Yup. I found it in junior high and have loved it ince. Hmm... I should get it from the library again... That's not entirely surprising. Inheritance was a very long, drawn out series. It had an interesting ending though. I suppose it depends on your reasons for dropping it.
Coming from someone who read both The Dragonriders of Pern and The Malazan Book of the Fallen, length is not an issue. I found it boring is what I mean. Reading The Name of the Wind will do that to you.
It is quite common to do so. Art enthusiasts and especially older persons find things that younger or less experienced people like annoying because those people represent it in an annoying way. Many people dislike Naruto, Bleach and One Piece simply because the fans of the series annoy them to no end. It is called popularity bias and you will probably hold it for some things eventually if you do not already. Other examples of things that I avoided because of popularity bias are Soul Eater and spectator sports of any kind. I dislike the name, I dislike the emblem and I dislike the premise. I cannot think of anything about the series that interests me. Add on that no one I consider an art enthusiast has recommended it to me, the fact that I have not seen anything visually pleasing from the series and a lack of appreciation for it among my friends and you have me not liking it by default.
