"Alright!" Kirie called after Serin before turning her attention back on Lyn. "Sure, that'll be nice," Kirie said with a smile and a shrug. She then walked over to one of the makeshift beds and sat down on one of them while waiting for Kirie to come over and pick out the grass and dead leaves from her hair. "Do you want an apple too, Lyn?" Kirie was feeling a little more relaxed now. It seemed that Luna was giving her a break from spouting off nonsense. She didn't notice the little detail with Serin though, since she was trying not to pay attention to him too much. It seemed like what ever it was about Serin, she had to go and say something even she didn't understand. Was it a sign? Or was it because she was nervous and didn't want to let anyone know?

Lyn nodded towards Serin. She would be thankful for the rest. She had done things in that day that she had never done before, and honestly, she was tired. She then followed Kirie and sat down behind her. She began pulling the leaves and grass from her hair, being careful not to pull out any hair in the process. "An apple would be lovely." Lyn said to her. She also did not notice the detail about Serin, her vision was blocked. "That seems to be all of it." Lyn said taking one last scan through the faerie's hair. She stood up and walked over to one of the other beds that Kirie had made and sat down.

The faerie then saw how pointless it was for Lyn to pick out the leaves and twigs, because she was going to lay back down in them. She chuckled to herself and shook her head at her sillyness. She then dug in her bag and pulled out an apple for Lyn. "Think fast," Kirie said softly, tossing the apple gently towards Lyn so she could catch it. Kirie had a little bit more food in her bag, but she figured they should save it for later just in case they got in a situation where the food was absolutely nessescary. Kirie then reached behind her head and pulled out the hair tie that was proving to be usless now, since half of her bun came out during the fight with the bugbears. Wrapping it into a coil and tying it together, Kirie then set it in her bag and then flopped on the makeshift bed. It smelled like musty forest and dirt, but she didn't mind. "I don't know how long we're going to survive," Kirie said to no one in particular. "The nights will get colder and colder... nature will start to become cruel and harsh." Kirie quickly shut her mouth, realizing what she was saying. 'Not again...'

Sighing out in frustration, Kirie rolled over her side and stared at the fire that wasn't too far away from them. She watched as it danced and flickered this way and that with no particular rythm or pattern of movement. 'We're probably going to end up like that,' Kirie thought. 'We're not going to know what we're going to do exactly... even though we have a goal in sight. Heh, great. Now I'm starting to not make sense in my own head.' Kirie continued to stare at the fire, just watching it as she tried to shut all her thoughts out of her head and just let everything be quiet for a moment...

Lyn realized how foolish she had been about picking the leaves out of Kirie's hair as soon as her head hit the bed. "I can be such an idiot sometimes." she thought to herself. She stared up at the stars. There were millions. They stretched everywhere. She began to wonder how many of those stars she would see as they journeyed. A single tear escaped from her eye. She didn't even feel sad. But secretly, she was scared. She brought her arm up and covered her face.

Julie had tried her best to hurry Raphael even though she knew he wasn't strong enough now. Still though, they had to get away as quickly as possible. Finally arriving at the gate of the town, Julie momentarily looked over her shoulder, afraid to know if the dragon will end up setting its eyes on her and Raphael. "We have to keep moving," she told Raphael, turning attention towards the outside of the town. She's never left this place before, but leaving now was her only choice.

Varil turned his head over towards the other two, watching as they escaped. He growled lowly but knew that if he didn't keep his focus on the dragon he would be killed all too quickly. The small amount of ambient light that was still about was seemingly drawn into Varil's blade further darkening the surroundings. The dragon before him roared once more before the two's powers clashed; darkness and ice.

"Get some sleep you two. Try not to worry about anything...everything will be fine, I promise." Serin's eyes lowered towards the ground as he took another bite out of the apple and soon found himself gnawing at the core. 'I suppose I was hungry.' He tossed the apple's core over towards the fire before turning his attention towards both Kirie and Lyn. Something bothered him deep down, he had never expected his companions to be anything more than nameless people to travel with. They were more than that, they would probably feel homesick and even come to accept their responsibilities as holders of the Veritas Magus. 'I swear...Thanatos...' Serin's hands clenched tight into fists as he recalled the incident that sparked this quest, the one that had gave the town elders hope that such a man as Thanatos could be defeated. 'They will know him as Varil...'

"Words that are easily said, but not easy to keep," Kirie muttered lowly to herself. Kirie knew that most of this trip and the outcome of it would depend on her attitude and her outlook of things. Perhaps things would change, perhaps hardships and mishaps would fly around and hit them squarely in the face. Who knew what the world was going to throw at them next. Kirie pulled her cloak tightly over her, trying to get a little more warmth from it. Realizing they forgot something important to do, Kirie sighed out and reluctnatly crawled out of her makeshift bed. She shivered when the night wind hit her, but endured it and wrapped her cloak tightly around her. She then picked up her sachel with the apples in it, collected an armful of dry grass, and walked over to the horses.

Kirie approached them gently, hoping to not startle them. Seeing that they were calm, Kirie smiled and went to the nearest one, beginning to stroke his neck. "You were almost forgotten, weren't you?" Kirie placed her bag to the side before holding up her armload of hay up for the horse to eat. She watched as the horse sniffed curiously at it before nippling away at it. "I know... It's not the delux hay that you get in the barn, or the fresh meadow grass... But it's all we have. Please forgive us." The horse wasn't complaining too much and took a bigger portion of the grass Kirie held in her arms.

It had been a few hours and Alec was wide awake. The rush from the Bugbear attack was just now starting to wear off. I hope the rest of this journey is just as fun, he thought to himself smiling. He was sitting under a tree, cross-legged with Unda laid across his lap. He looked down at the spear of water. It was still bandaged and pouched, but the pouch was torn from the earlier attack and he could see the tip. It was a glassy blue, as if made by sapphire. Alec cocked an eyebrow, he had never actually studied Unda's composition. He touched the tip, careful not to prick himself, and felt how sharp it was. It was definitely sharp enough to cut (Alec just realized he never thought of it as an actual spear before, just a magical object that controls water). "I guess if we want to succeed, we should get to know these weapons as best as we can..."

He looked around. Both girls seemed to be asleep, along with their horses. He kept looking and noticed Ebony wasn't sleeping. In fact, his horse seemed uneasy. "What's wrong, boy?" He asked as he looked around. There was nothing out there. No more Bugbears, no wild animals, no noises. Suddenly, he jumped up, Unda in one hand. It was quiet...too quiet. Where were the birds? The animal noises? It seemed even the squirrels were avoiding their area. Without warning, the ground by Ebony exploded. "WAKE UP!" He yelled it, no time to say anything else as a worm twice his size appeared next to Ebony. It was a nasty green, the kind of green that mucus was. No eyes were on its head, instead a large, perfectly circular mouth stared back at him, jagged teeth surrounding its rim. A large amount of saliva was dripping from its mouth.

EDIT: I'm on my way home for Thanksgiving so I may not post again until Friday. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone~

Mya opened her eyes quicky and jumped up to see the giant serpent. What the-? She backed off from the serpent and stood next to Alec, armed. Wait, where the other girl?

Serin's eyes fixed on Kirie as he silently watched the girl feed one of the horses. He couldn't help but smile a little at the sight. "Really, you should get to sleep now. I'm sure it'll be a long day ahead of us." He held out his hands towards the fire to keep them warm as the flame rose slightly to almost meet them. 'Such a warm fire...' Serin turned his attention to the fire as he let his mind wander momentarily. For a moment it almost seemed that the fire drew pictures in his head, some were of castles and another was of a dragon towering over a man who intended to kill it. Serin narrowed his eyes at the sight before snapping away from his own little world to gaze at the shadow Kirie casted on a nearby tree.

"Some say that one's shadow is part of their soul, that it houses pieces of both their heart and mind. An interesting thought, isn't it?" He spoke calmly before looking directly at the green-haired faerie. He pulled his hands away from the fire and ran a hand through his own snowy white hair, a color was unheard of even for the faeries...much less for a human. "This night feels like it'll pass quickly." Serin added before going silent once more.

"Yes, sleep is needful... But I'm too restless after today to just lay down right now. Might as well make my restlessness productive." Kirie kept her eyes on her horse as she stroked her fingers along side of its neck as it was finishing up its meal that Kirie provided for it. When it had eaten the last of the grass, Kirie pulled out one of the apples from her sack and held it up for the horse to eat. Lyn's horse tried to steal the apple away from Kirie's horse, but Kirie put a hand on its mussle and pushed it back gently but firmly.

She listened to Serin's anology of shadows as her horse tickled her hand with its soft lips as it ate the apple. The faerie couldn't help but to look over her shoulder at her own shadow. She could see where Serin was right. Kirie looked back at her horse as it finished up the apple, and smiled softly. "An interesting thought, indeed. Can you see the heart and mind of the shadow?" Kirie wiped her hands off on her cloak and then reached down to the ground to collect more grass for Lyn's horse. Collecting enough for the other horse, Kirie made her way around till she was in front of it and let it feed off of the grass.

In a way Serin was thankful that Kirie had chosen not to sleep just yet. He knew that if she had tried visions would most likely come in place of whatever dreams she normally had. He didn't want her to trouble herself with thoughts of the future. "Hm...the horses do seem rather hungry. The excitement must have gotten to them." Serin lowly commented. He took a moment in answering Kirie's question, thinking over the answer himself to find the best way to place his words.

"You can't see your own mind or heart, can you? Of course you can always see the body but things such as those rarely take form. It is possible though...it would be unnatural however for one to ever attempt such a thing as to let their shadow take form." When Serin finished, he thought about his own shadow--or lack of it to be put correctly. Anyone who had asked about it was simply met with an answer of how a sorceror had stolen it from him as some sort of attempt to curse him. It was at the moment he had lost his shadow that his hair had turned white, although no sorceror had turned his shadow into a physical being. The suspicion of his circumstances was the reason why some of the people of Welk had feared him when he returned. 'I suppose I'd be feeling the same way.'

That wasn't the answer Kirie was looking for, but it satisfied the faerie. Kirie sighed out as she fed the last horse, trying to find the right words to say to Serin. "It's not completely impossible for a shadow to take form. Unnatural, yes. But not impossible." Kirie looked up to see that she was feeding Serin's horse and smiled a bit. "Sure, you can't see your heart or your mind... or anyone else's for that matter. But the soul is wide open to those who look into your eyes." Kirie turned away from the horse and looked down at Luna as it glinted in the fire light. Kirie let her fingers trail over it before letting her hand drop. "Or when you have the Veritas Magus that shows you the future and creates illusions..."

Feeling a cold breeze pick up, Kirie shivered and wrapped her cloak tightly around her. She made her way over to the warm fire and sat down in front of it, trying to get warm. She then looked up at Serin, who was sitting opposite from her, and smiled a bit. "So are you feeling better? You haven't coughing more blood, correct?" Kirie really never took notice of Serin's hair or the fact that he had a shadow missing. Things like that didn't matter to her. She was more focused on the heart of things, not the exterior things most of the time.

BIC: Julie kept a tight grip on Raphael's arm, pulling him farther away from the gate of the city. Last thing she wanted to do was stop to let Varil catch up to them. She wasn't sure how long he would fight off the dragon, but she only hoped it'd be long enough for them to get far away from the city. Julie sighed out heavily, looking over her shoulder to see the gate was now farther away than she thought it would have been. I guess we walked quick enough. She sighed out once more, letting go of Raphael's arm as she came to a stop. "I wasn't expecting any of this to happen," she quietly said, chuckling slightly. Julie took a step back as she lowered her head, lightly pushing herself against a tree. I guess now that we're out here, we should look for the others that have the other Veritas Magus.

Raphael fell flat on his face. He was paler than usual and his limbs couldn't move any longer. "This... You've got to be kidding me. This inanimate object is like a leech... I hadn't expected any of this either. So, I guess I gotta train more. Then this won't happen as often." Raphael managed to turn over and faced Julie. From his point of view, she appeared to be upside down. In his case, with his weakness, it appeared real. He brushed it aside knowing he was weak in all parts of his body. "So, that thing... That thing that that Varil guy was fighting? What was that? I didn't get a good look at it. Although its roar... I feel like I've heard it before... Maybe it was a dream. I don't know." Raphael looked puzzled at the sky. He felt his body getting better as he faced the burning sun.

"The soul? I never really thought anyone could look into another's eyes and see the soul..." Serin trailed off looking down at the ground as he pulled himself further away from the tree he was leaning against and sat on the opposite side of the small fire that Kirie did. Despite its size, it gave out a warmth unbefitting of its size. This was Serin's doing.

"Hm." Serin sighed out as he took a nearby twig and poked it at the flame. "I'm feeling better, it stings but I'll survive." He placed a hand on his side, wincing slightly as he did so. With both attacks he was beginning to feel like he was being targeted, or at least being struck at first. 'Both the Drop and the Bugbears attacked me first. I'm starting to figure out why...' After answering the question within his own mind Serin gazed at the girl in front of him. "How's your neck? I could take a look at it for you."

There was another roar in the distance from where Julie and Raphael were. The dragon was out of sight as well as Varil, but the sounds of their fighting could still be heard.

OOC: Short post with him, I'll make Varil appear a bit later so I won't be posting as him for awhile.

Kirie smiled as she looked at the fire, trying to find the next words to say. "Our eyes are what express our inner emotions. Only those who trained themselves to hide what's going on inside of them can hide their soul from other people. Other wise, we're all an open book." Kirie's hands felt like ice to her, so she put them in front of the flames, letting them warm up for a while so they didn't feel so numb. Her and the outside air really didn't get along too well... unless it was a summer's night. But summer was almost gone now, and winter would soon be here.

Kirie looked up at Serin, and shook her head. "No, it's fine. It'll just be bruised for a few days, and stiff tomorrow. It'll heal alright." Kirie gave a warm smile and then glanced back at the fire, moving her hands over the heat waves. She was lost what to say now, since the conversation with souls and healing were kind of over and done with by now. Now what was she suppose to talk about? She didn't want to get too personal with Serin, or anyone else on this trip. Not that she hated anyone... she just had a feeling of dread deep inside of her.

Julie looked down at Raphael, her eyes narrowing as she remembered seeing the mighty beast. "A dragon," she muttered, closing her eyes momentarily. "Didn't look at it for too long, but it was a dragon." Her eyes opened, averting towards Tempest who stayed tightly on Julie's grip. I wonder how long it'll take for me to get used to it. Julie's lips parted as she raised her head, looking around the area. She slid down to the floor until her knees were bent and close to her chest. "We'll have to keep moving soon," she said towards Raphael, turning her attention towards the direction they had come from.
