~A Haunting Fortress on the Horizon~

Mya didn't say anything. She was still in deep thought wondering how the others were faring. She hated to see them die aleady and would have no chance. She then snapped out of her trance and looked at Alec. Y-yea. Next town. I'm Mya by the way.

 

Lyn looked over at Serin and Kirie. "I don't really have anything with me. I was just going for a walk before I ran into Serin. I figured I would just return to the village as normal." She said as she sat down on the forest floor, her wings slightly touching the ground.

 

"I'm Alec," the faerie repeated to his new companion. "That means we head to Arilan," He looked from Mya to Elaina and then forward. "Hopefully the others will meet us there...I guess it wasn't easy as we thought, huh?" he joked, trying to make conversation. "Easy come, easy go, so they say..." Ebony shuddered and neighed quietly as he felt a tiny vibration in the ground.

 

Kirie only nodded her head when Serin told her and Lyn to stay in his sight. She was done talking now. When Serin mentioned building a fire, she pulled her bag in front of her and had a look inside. Sure enough, she remembered to grab them. Kirie reached inside and pulled out two small green stones. "Here," she said in almost in a whisper. "They're Spark Rocks. Strike them together, and well... they live up to the name." She held them out to Serin, expecting him to take them. But she wouldn't look at him directly this time. Kirie could tell her moving speeches were getting a little too frequent lately, but she couldn't help it. It was almost as if she was driven to do this ever since Luna came in her procession. 'I better learn to control myself,' she thought. 'I might make some enemies if I'm not careful.'

By listening to Serin though, it sounded like he wanted to avoid civilization as much as possible. Or maybe avoid the fact of buying anything. Kirie brought some things with her to help out with getting supplies if the need arose, but she decided to just keep her mouth shut for now. After all, she said more than usual today. She didn't want to overdo it again.

 

Mya ignored Alec's comment and continued to trot onward. She didn't really know what to say so she stayed silent.

 

Julie grabbed Raphael's arm and began leading him towards the gate in a fast walk. She heard Varil's footsteps come closer, causing her to spin on her heels to see he was closer than she expected. Her grip on Tempest tightened, remembering Raphael had snapped his fingers to make the power of Famma appear. Maybe it'll work for me. Julie bit down on her lip, raising her hand to snap her fingers, however, a sudden roar stopped her action. "What was that?" Julie's eyes darted, trying to search for what had made a such a roar, but she quickly noticed Varil was distracted. Her lips pressed together tightly as she turned around, grabbing Raphael's arm once more. "Come on," she muttered towards him, try to walk as fast as possible.

 

Raphael walked as fast as he could as Julie clutched his arm. Suddenly he heard a deaphening roar overhead. Its sound was something familiar to him yet unbelievably alien. He looked up towards the sky but saw nothing. Whatever it was, it must have been an extremely powerful beast of some sort. Raphael suddenly felt his strength return bit by bit. It still wasn't enough. All he could probably do was walk a little faster, which he did. His muscles ached and his mind felt like a hurricane. What he thought would be a normal day, turned out to be possibly the most exilerating experience in his life.

 

"Well, then," Alec shrugged since Mya didn't seem interested in conversation. He raised a hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, only to notice there was a significant amount more than he thought. Guess the Bugbears made me more nervous than I thought, he sighed. Ebony seemed nervous as well, huffing as they walked. Alec looked up at the sky, it was getting darker and darker by the minute. "I think...we should set up camp here," he said, stopping his horse. "There shouldn't be any more Bugbears around here...let's stop for the night."

 

Mya nodded and trotted her horse over to an open dirt area. She then got off her horse and placed her pack next to the tree. So who's gonna stand watch? She created a fire pit and tossed some dry hay into it.

 

"They were given to me after I saved a child's life," Kirie said softly. She then made her way over to a patch of ground that looked soft enough and started to construct "nature" beds for everyone to cozy up in since they didn't have any blankets. And being in a place where it was cool in the daytime because of the shade, Kirie figured it was going to get colder as the night wore on. Dry grass and leaves were better than no covering at all on the forest floor. "I have some apples also if anyone is hungry," she said to no one in particular. Kirie made herself busy by finding as much dry grass and other things that would work for a comfy bed on the ground. It wasn't going to be soft and fluffy like a cloud, but it would be close.

 

"I'll take the pleasure," Alec said, jumping off Ebony and leading him towards a nearby tree. "You girls need some rest," he told Mya as he started to tie Ebony to the tree. He dropped the pouch off his shoulder, catching it before it hit the ground. He raised to Ebony's face and put it around her neck. "Watch that for me, will ya?" he asked the horse as he turned around and placed his back on the tree. He slid down, holding Unda in his hand. "I'll wake you up when it's your turn," he told them. He was unaware that several yards below the ground, he was being targeted.

 

Mya nodded. She started a fire and tossed a few logs on it. She then layed down next to a tree, but didn't fall asleep. she usually didn't like falling asleep somewhere new to her. WondEr how tomorrow is going to go.

 

Julie restrained herself from turning around. She didn't want to see whatever had appeared and she certainly didn't want its attention. She looked towards Raphael, a bit concerned as to why his strength had suddenly dwindled so quickly. Does this happen when we use the Veritas Magus.? The young girl bit down on her lip, but suddenly felt a strong gust of wind push down on her and the others. For a moment, she stopped walking, but quickly forced herself to continue. She briefly looked over her shoulder, gasping loudly to see it was a dragon that had appeared. I've never seen one before.

 

Lyn, who was feeling, not so useful, stood up and began gathering to help out Kirie. Kirie seemed to be much more knowledgeable at this type of thing than her. She filled her arms with dry grass as she had observed Kirie do. She brought some other to her and said, "Here, I'm not sure how to do this kind of thing, but I figured I could help with this."

 

Kirie looked up at Lyn and smiled softly. "Yes, that's perfect. Thank you Lyn." Kirie took the materials that Lyn gave to her and arranged another bed not too far away from the first one. Seeing she had enough dry leaves and grass left over, she moved over from her second one and made a third nature bed. There was enough to snuggle in and get semi-warm, which was good for Kirie. But she figured that they would need to get blankets sooner or later. Kirie looked up from her projects, dry leaves and grass dangling from her hair, and took the spark rocks back from Serin. "Alright then. Let me get one for you." The faerie stood up and walked over to her bag, which was laying next to a tree. She picked up the bag and placed the spark rocks within them, and then pulled out an apple. "Think fast," Kirie said with a small smile and tossed Serin an apple.

 

Lyn smiled back at Kirie, glad that she was able to help out a bit. She went to sit down and watched as Kirie finished their beds. Laughing a bit at the leaves and grass tangled in her green hair. After she had tossed the apple to Serin, Lyn stood up and walked towards Kirie, "Would you like me to get the leaves out of your hair?"
