A King's Story 4: Fading Light

He pulled his arm away. "Go away"

 

"No way man, look at him! Didn't you hear him earlier? Something is WRONG with him!" Mello protested.

 

"Somethings ALWAYS wrong with him!"

 

"Okay! Forget the OTHER times I said something was wrong with him! Just listen to me n-"
"Is there something wrong?"
Mello went pale, looking behind him.
Near stood there, staring up at him. His eyes were slits and his head was tlited to the side slightly.

 

"Oh just fuuck off all of you" she stomped away again.

 

Near watched Lawliet before turning back to Mello.
Mello had gone even more pale. "H-Hi Near....."
"Is there anything wrong?" Near asked.
"No...."
"Liar. I'll repeat. Is there anything wrong?"
"N-"
"LIAR!" Near suddenly shouted.
The birds around suddenly flew up from the trees.

 

Opal laughed and twiddled with his hair, "Aww, you should get some sleep now"

"Whos a liar?" a man put his hand on Nears shoulder.

Near pointed right at Mello.
Mello frowned, looking at the man. "Who're you?!"

 

He ignored mello. " Calling someone a liar is a very serious accusation. what did he lie about?"

 

"Something is wrong. He's hiding it from me." Near suddenly smirked evilly. "Let me guess then. You're wondering about me? What's wrong?"
Mello watched Near, freaked out.
"You think somethings wrong, don't you? In fact, you're just VERY SCARED of me-"
"I'm NOT scared of yo-"
"SHUT UP! YOU'RE LYING!" Near shouted.

 

"Aren't you lying? Judging from his reaction you don't always act this way, it's not your TRUE personality" he smiled. " and to show someone something that isn't true is showing them a LIE, don't you think?"

 

Near looked up at the person, tilting his head more. His eyes scanned the man's face, still slits.
Mello watched him.

 

He stared right back into his eyes.

 

Near shut his eyes, passing out.
Mello let out a sigh of relief. "Jeez..... I knew something was wrong with him....."

 

The man knelt down and picked up Near, he was quite tall so had to take a step backwards before hand.
"Has this happened before?"

 

Mello shook his head. "He was talking to Lawliet like that earlier, talking about having no help and lying." Blinking, he pointed at the man. "Okay, who the hell are you anyway!?"

 

"Is that the only time he's behaved this way?"

 

"Yes. NOW ANSWER MY FREAKING QUESTION!" Mello shouted, his eyes turning red.

 

The man smiled politely. "my,my, haven't we got an attitude"
