You did not discount anything he said. What you did was defend your position as he expressed it by explaining why you are still here. The problems he expressed are still problems regardless of your reasons for being here.

Instead of acknowledging a wish to change, you said you would leave. That is an unhealthy response from you because you have implicitly expressed that you have no wish to change. Instead you have expressed that we will be rid of your unchanging self. Still unhealthy for you.

 

And this all started because of a letter to Amaury.
