Every single genre game was fun, and so many old games back then were so fun that you wouldn't care about anything else really, you didn't need to worry about your money being wasted cause it wasn't a matter "Is this game good or bad" it was a "Is this game my type of Genre or not".

Bushido Blade was awesome, Bust a Groove was awesome, Yoshi's story was awesome, almost every single first gen game was supremely awesome, with a few exceptions like Superman 64.

But now we got PS2, and Gamecube, which turned into a "Is this a good genre and is this game good" and if the game was good, it was too easy. The feeling of adrenaline and excitement remained however for a while, as games were still really hard, however later on in the year more excellent styled games came out with too easy of a difficulty.

Zelda Twilight Princess, and Wind Waker only had the puzzles, not the challenges.

Kingdom Hearts II lost the feeling of challenges that Kingdom Hearts I had.

Devil May Cry 3 kept on the DMC feeling, however that soon died down despite all the new moves, Dante just didn't feel much like Dante anymore.

Shadow of the Colossus brought back hope into the system as it proved fun and challenging, however was only a one time play through afterwards it'd just be easy.

Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix came out, the concept of the bosses came out hard, but Sora was just too over powered to do anything. Re:Chain of Memories' proud mode felt like a tuned down Chain of Memories by difficulty.

And then Sierra came and brought out F.E.A.R a game that brought a a whole new concept to difficulty to first person shooters, as the enemies in F.E.A.R had a very smart, and very merciless A.I, as well as a beautifully creepy setting.

Then Clover Came into play, and brought out Okami, a very similar style to Zelda, though proved to be very different with the brush techniques, though sadly yet another easy game. But Clover then created God Hand, one of THE hardest games to hit the PS2, and brought in the good ol feeling of old style beat-em-ups a game to be commended for that indeed, and was really one of those games meant to bring us back to the past.

Let's face it, despite how many anticipated titles we get now, there will only be a few we will pick without thinking, when back in old gen, games like Yoshi's Story, and the others can be picked off right away.

-Sighs- I miss the days when games were challenging and fun.

Moving on though these are the games I wish to Rest in Piece as they brought a whole new feeling back then when they were great.

R.I.P Bust a Groove, thank you for bringing the meaning of beat, and dance into the soul of those new in the gaming World.

R.I.P Zelda, your fun puzzles and challenging bosses made you a game with a force to reckon with.

R.I.P Pokemon Snap and your snappy goodness on games.

R.I.P Yoshi's Story, one of the only games that actually made me teary.

R.I.P Final Fantasy, it seems you've been going downward ever since the original producer left, do get back on track.

R.I.P Mario, if Mario Galaxy brings back the beautiful feeling Mario 64 did, then you will be the Jesus of games cause you revived yourself.

R.I.P Bushido Blade, you brought the ultimate tactics a sword game could have, so realistic, yet so old-gen you was one amazing game, when Square-Soft was still alive.

R.I.P First four .hack games, you brought in one of the most hardest RPG's for the PS2, you were amazing, G.U is great but it lost the challenge...

R.I.P Sonic, before you hit 3D you were one of the best games you were even close to rivaling Mario, but now you just..died, and until they stop making crappy story driven games about you, you'll just keep on dying.

Anyone else feel this slight sympathizing for the death of old yet great games?

Xaldin... you are perfectly right. I haven't had a good challenge against a game since I couldn't remember where all the buttons on the controller were (seriously). I mean okay you face off against a real person in some things and it's hard enough, but it doesn't work with everything. I just wish they'd make games move difficult and one more thing. It's not just the challenge that is lacking it's the adventure. It just doesn't feel like I'm getting anything done anymore. No matter how great the animation the core fact is these guys need to try harder. oh well, that why we are depressed by the Decline although it's still funny.

I was thinking the same thing. The games back then used to be long and challenging which was really fun...but now, I can finish games so easily and quickly, games are no longer going to be my interest...soon enough.

Exactly adventure is missing too, before you basically seriously had to talk to EVERYONE and explore every corner to find something at times, but now it's like "Go here!" "Then go here!" "Talk to everyone!"

It could give a more adventurous feeling if you didn't already know where to go.

The first four .hack games were really damn hard, they might not have had too much of an adventure feeling, but the difficulty was damn godly. You needed 99 resurrects no matter what level you were.

I remember another game I played a long time ago for Playstation 1 called Jersey Devil, basically you're some creature that escaped from an experiment, and you had to go to areas, ect. (Actually Slycooper ripped off of this by the style of the game) but you had to find 7 coins in each area, and then the gate. this seriously tested your ability of searching every nook and cranny of the place, and not only that the enemies were hard too.

The first Crash Bandicoot game was also very hard, but the latest ones are just ...yeah. Same with Spyro.

Yeah i miss the older games they were more challenging. I loved the older Sonic games but now they just suck. One game that is one of my all time favourites has to be Secret of Mana on the SNES. Oh i loved that game to bits.

Spyro 2 is without a doubt the greatest game ever.

IMO, kh2 just sucks. Really, thinking about it, it is an AWFUL game. There is no fun, challenge, difficulty, adventure, anything. It's just a bunch of REALLY boring cutscenes. Games like SPyro were full of amazing gameplay. Long live Spyro!!!
