A Ripple in the Pond~ Dark Times

ooc - actually....Helena is more focused on Risit... *waits for a reply as willow before posting ic*

 

Willow watched what the elder did and smiled, "Heehee, lookie who came..." she glanced at her other companion and back at the elder of the two, "He is just like our master. Wh...what did he just do? Protecting the Prince...is that was mages do in this Kingdom?"

Zero turned on his heel, ducking under the bandit's swords and slamming his fist into one of their jaws and kneeing the other in his stomach. His eyes caught on Risit, his sword poised over one of the bandits that wasn't out cold. "What was that? I'm positive bandits wouldn't run from an elderly man like that. What did you do healer!" he demanded with more calm than he felt. Risit wasn't human, was he?

 

Helena's hair covered most of her face as she looked down. She feared that these two would get her spotted. Neither of them were using any magic to hide and they weren't being all that quiet. So she released her magic and was fully visible again. "Should we hang back in the shadows or playa lost travelers and get up close?"

 

Willow stifled her grin and spoke seriously, "The master told us to observe, how much could it hurt if we got an up close view. After all he only said don't fight, never anything about not getting close." Willow's eyes flicked from the elder to the Prince and back again.

Zero could've sworn he'd seen something...perhaps his eyes were playing tricks on him. Risit was a very good swordsman, not to boost his self-esteem, but anything other than healing skills, he was ordinary. Sighing, Zero moved away from the unconscious men on the ground and checked his horse. "You're...why did you come after me. Surely it wasn't of your own concern of Edmund or my safety. Were you interested in the people that shot my brother?"

 

Zero laughed, sharp and short, "Protecting my family doesn't include protecting me. I'm my own person and I don't need a bodyguard. Let alone a healer following me around. What do you think would happen, I'd catch cold and die? You underestimate your future King, healer." Zero knew he shouldn't speak so haughtily with Risit, but his temper was running short today. He was much calmer when he was sleep deprived. Willing a yawn away, he adjusted the straps on his horse and walked further into the decimated town. He had to find something...anything, any clue at all where they had gone.

 

Helena shifted her weight to the other foot. "Will now be a bad time? This prince seems like in a bad mood. He could very well think we were the ones that did this."

 

Rath looked over at Willow "do as you please I will stay in the shadows. Lying is something I will not do" Rath said. Despite all the horrible and unhonorable things he has done in the name of Turley, he always tried his best to keep as much honor as he could. "Our orders were to observe the apprentices, this may be their mentor" Rath hypothesized with his eyes closed

 

Willow huffed, "But it'd be fun. Plus, I think the prince is smart enough to figure that whoever did this wouldn't come back. And if that man is the other mage's mentor, all the better to get up close. He shouldn't know who we are and if he does, we can hightail it outta there and then you my shadow-y little friend can follow him around while we get the other apprentices."

 

"And who said anything about lying? I can bend the truth very well." She took a step towards the town before looking over her shoulder. "And that is a very good idea. It's best if they never learn of all of our faces." She wondered why she was talking so much. Sure she still spoke in her usual quiet voice, but it was weird for her. Perhaps it was only because of the thrill of being out on the field, away from the castle for the first in years. She shook the thoughts and took a few more steps out, soon finding herself in plain view.

 

Willow followed after Helena, pulling her traveling coat around her neck closed, "Oh, she's not alone." smiling sweetly, enough that Willow would've retched if she didn't have to pretend to be sweet and wiggled her fingers at Risit in hello, "Aren't you far from your home?"

Zero turned to make a haughty comment to Risit and noticed the two girls. Women, here in a recently attacked, it wasn't right. Swallowing his anger, he composed himself and moved to stand beside Risit, "Miladies, you shouldn't be out this late in the evening without an escort."

 

ooc - I forget how much old times piss me off even though I also love them XD


Helena fought back a cruel smile, instead faking a sweet one. "We manage. Hardly the first time some females walk about on their own this far out, even if it is uncommon." Her smile faded as she took on a look of slight embarassment. "Um, but we weren't meant to go this way. We kind of got lost... So speaking of escorts... Could you escort us back to your village?"

 

Willow's icy eyes glittered, "Ah~ thank you so much. Why, you're so kind!" She felt like using her own wind to cut herself from how sickeningly sweet she was. Tossing her white blond hair back over her shoulder, she pulled one fan from her sleeve, fanning herself, So...who shall I ride with. Hmm, such ladies of our quality should not have to choose like this."

Zero smiled, practicing his charm again as his advisor had asked him to try, "Well, since I am the Prince, whomever wishes to ride with me, shall." He knew it contradicted the white haired lady's words but her smile never reached her icy eyes and it unnerved him. He slid his eyes to the other lady and smiled again, "Where is it you live?"

 

"Nowhere." Helena added in quickly. Already the older one sounded like he supsceted something. This was not starting out well. Oh well, she was already divising many back-up plans. "Not anymore that is... Just like this town ours too was burned down. We're lucky we got out at all. We hope to find somewhere to settle down..." She said as she looked from the prince to the other man. Neither seemed like a good riding buddy, but both was interesting. "Hm... I think my friend here wishes to ride with the prince. Surely she finds him...most interesting." She flashed a coy smile to Willow.

 

OOC: Well... everyone did what I asked them to do. ^^ Thanks guys. I'll just be checking up once in a while for now on. Say my characters died or something, I can't keep up anymore. Happy RPing y'all.

 

Willow didn't quite understand what Helena was getting at, but a few moments alone with the Prince seemed like a good idea to her. "Ah, I fear my friend has revealed quite a secret of mine." She flapped a fan in front of her face and hid her smile behind it.

Zero couldn't understand what was so secretive about riding with him. "Not a problem, ladies. I'm sure my fr- uh, he'd be delighted to take you." He took hold of the white blonde haired woman's hand, "I'm sorry, I don't think I caught your names."
