Shouldn't it be NORTH AMERICAN'S then?
America is the whole continent. and every where I go (and forums mostly) they are reffered to as North Americans (NA) or US people.

And to Arch: Yes I live in one of the most unimportant countries, and it makes me rage so bad that North americans call us that way >>
At least my country doesn't have over grassy and fat sugared food. and we are mostly the joking type of people, specially in my city.. >> and we don't think the world rotates in our center..

^ that DOES NOT apply to all North Americans.. only to the ****** type like Arch's post..

but like :c people never refer to us as north americans

you have your canadians, your mexicans, your brazilians, your chileans, ETCETC and then you have your americans which are people who live in the united states

Even then, it is still incorrect to call you just ''american's''

    Mexico is from CENTER america.
Chile, Brazil, Peru, Venezuela (where I'm from) are all SOUTH america.

I will still call you people North American's.. >> in general I mean.

i know they're from central and south america, lol. i was just trying to show that even though they're from america, they are not called americans. :c so it'd be fine if you called people from that us americans since no other place is called that.

    lol i don't know

I saw scientific experts explaining that this explanation doesn' t float. Since I' m no scientific expert myself I decided to trust them (rather than journalists or politicians) and have my doubts.

Well that' s the European stereotype of American people. If I thought that all Americans are morons I wouldn' t be using this forum. You see French as people wearing a beret, driving a Citroën deux chevaux and constantly holding some bread baguette. We see you as some Jack Bauer/Bruce Willis invested with a "righteous" mission involving killing "bad guys" for the sake of all that' s "good", warm and fuzzy (and money). We know that' s a cliché, but seeing the content of your news channels doesn' t help to suppress the feeling. There' s also some little things here and there that entertain the cliché. For example I saw a you tube commentary about a French video a few days ago :

"English please!!! ****ing french pussies, go back to your cheese eating habits you surrender monkeys"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CTNAlMpZLA

The English viewer who expects everything to be in English is not that rare.
In a way that' s understandable : a lot of people DO peak English. Every time some European movie attracts an American eye somehow the movie doesn' t make it to America : you buy the scripts rights and make a remake suited to the American audience. "True Lies" is funny, but I still prefer "La Totale". Your version of "Dinner for Schmuck" is an insult to the amazingly funny scenario and actors of "Le diner de cons".

Here' s something you probably never saw on a US channel :

This is the way America has been depicted for years in a daily humor French show. Don' t worry, this show is just as mean towards our own presidents (or anyone, really).

However, despite all of this, my granny was certainly VERY happy to see you guys helping us 60 years ago.

That' s a stereotype, of course, but I suspect lots of people are actually dumb enough to see you that way.

Tu veux dire "comme je l' ai moi-même traduit en Français, les Américains sont tous devenus des noobs" ?

Yeah, sadly people usually hate what they think to be awesome, they' d rather admire those who pretend to be. ^^

Oh really? In what parallel universe you live in? Every single European country knows that this war was started for the oil and they used this tragic event to unfold their plans. Actually the plans of that moron Bush but anyway...

Go back some years ago. You'll see people all around the world complain, protesting about what is happening in Iraq. About this ridiculous war that everyone knows that is happening -at least mainly- for oil. Or for any other reason that also has one word behind it. Revenge. Very mature. Attack a whole nation because of the terrorists that live there. What happened in U.S with the towers was a tragedy, many people died but the government of U.S should have never started a war.

Should i (but lets be fair, who hasn't...)? That's not the point. You fail to see how the motto "God bless America" looks to the rest of the world. It's like "We rule you drool", God supports our nation because we are awesome. And don't tell me that this is not the case with a lot of American citizens. That feeling of superiority, that "logic" that U.S is better than any possible part of the world. You would lie.

Pride and patriotism? Go study about our history, we have tons of it without a silly motto.

Certainly each and every country has advantages and disadvantages -we surely wave tons of them as well xD- i'm not trying to prove that U.S suck, on the contrary to be honest. I find it a rather nice and interesting country, one that i would like to visit at one point but as i said you have to see things from another perspective.

    Fair enough.
Maybe it is but i never said that this happens only in U.S and we are talking about U.S here.

Anyway, i guess we got a little bit too serious for the spamzone.

Because, y'know, Europeans would know more about the US's affairs than the US. k, makes sense.

Now listen, I agree that Bush is an idiot, and that the war shouldn't have started, I in NO WAY support anything concerning it, except that the soldiers who for some reason decided to fight in a war that we shouldn't be fighting. But, don't act like I don't know about it. Sure, it had something to do with oil, but it's not like we were gonna just go right out and attack them if they hadn't killed all those people on 9/11. You say it's immature, revenge? It's not just that we're like, "Kso you attacked us? Well see how YOU like it!!" No. They attacked us, so we were dealing with it. They showed that they were willing to hurt the US, so we tried to keep that from happening.

Let me correct you here. The motto of the US isn't "God Bless America"; it's actually "In God, We Trust". "God Bless America" is just a patriotic song that takes the form of a prayer asking for God's blessing and peace for the nation. I'm honestly having doubts of you ever listening to the song too because nowhere in the song does it express that "God supports our nation because we are awesome" or "We rule you drool" in any sort of way and if it does, please show me.
