Anna's smile always made Zeke feel warmer inside...thawing out his heart of ice...depite being one of fire abilities, he acted coldly, putting up a facade, an illusion...only to shield his true feelings. Any pain, any agony, any negative feeling...he hid it all behind his straight expression.
Can you see through it, Anna? he wondered to himself. Can you see through my facade? If so...you'd be the only one...
Closing his eyes momentarily, he sighed softly, as he sat, silently, on the side of her bed, moving slowly so the mattress wouldn't shake and awaken her so.
A soft smile passed over his lips, as he looked her over. She was so beautiful...like an tempting siren...one who could not touch for so long...until now...she has returned his love...had the same goal as he...wanted to be his queen...it was as if things were finally going his way for once...but for how long? And what problems lied beneath?

 

Anna turned over again, a frown passing her lips.

 

As Anna turned, Zeke was startled to find a frown upon her face. What was bothering his queen now? A nightmare? Something uncomfortable in her bed? Him...?
Shaking off that tentative thought, he was struck with an idea. Gently standing up, he turned, walking across the room to sit on one of the pristine white chairs. Reaching into his pocket, he drew a wooden flute. Bringing it to his lips and closing his eyes, he began to play a gentle tune, soft and relaxing.

 

Anna heard the soft tune and a smile passed her lips once more. Her eyes slowly opened as she awoke to the sound of the wooden flute. She sat up and smiled at Zeke as she listened to him play.

 

With his eyes closed, Zeke couldn't even tell that Anna was now sitting up, awake. He just continued playing, soothingly, the tune clear and delicate. In fact, his own mind was lost in the music...in past memories...in times of previous eras...things that haunted his mind, that now caused a single tear to fall from his eye, coursing slowly down his cheek.

 

Anna frowned as she saw a tear roll down Zeke's face. "Zeke...?" she asked, getting up and walking over to him. "Are you okay?" she gently sat down next to him.

 

Hearing Anna's voice instantly brought Zeke out of his reverie as he stopped playing, opening his eyes to see his queen, looking at him worriedly. A lock of her saffron-blonde hair had fallen over her pale shoulder, while her golden-brown eyes had a tinge of worry within them. Blinking to clear his vision and the last bit of the wetness within his right eye, he pasted on a casual smile onto his face.
"Of course I'm fine," he answered. "Everything's absolutely copacetic...the question...how are you?"
Bringing up his left hand, he touched the side of her face, pushing back a stray strand of her hair.

 

Anna looked at him worridley. "I'm fine..." she said. "But you seemed upset... is there something you would like to talk about?" she asked him, taking his hand gently.

 

Delicately entwining his fingers with hers, Zeke shook his head. "No...no...everything's fine," he reassured her. "I...something got caught in my eye. It happens." He gave a small chuckle, half for his feeble excuse, half to show her that he was fine.

 

Anna sighed and closed her eyes. "Zeke... I'm not an idiot..." she said. "I know that you are troubled... I can feel it... don't lie to me... you can't hide your true feelings..." she looked up at him and smiled. "Do you want to tell me what's bothering you or not?" she asked, kissing him gently on the cheek.

 

"It's...complicated," Zeke admitted, "and I don't want to bother you with it...really...it's all in the past and now...everything's fine." Half-truth. That was what he had told her, but no need to tell her that...
"Anyway...now that you're awake and up...why don't we go somewhere?" he suggested, trying to change the subject.

 

Anna smiled as she entwined her fingers with his. "Like where?" she asked him. She knew that he was NOT fine but she didn't say anything. She knew that he wanted to be left alone.

 

"Anywhere you want," Zeke answered, smootly, as he leaned forward, kissing her softly on her forehead. Being close to her, he caught the sweet scent of sakuras, and her skin felt soft, smooth, just like a rose petal...

Anna stood up, holding his hand, and smiled. "I know just the place..." she said and walked out of the room with him. "It is my favorite spot..." they walked towards the front gate.

 

Zeke smiled, as Anna had led him out of the infirmary. He had a clue to where they were going to, but made no mention of it...although being outside...he hoped Anna would be alright...

 

Anna started to feel a bit dizzy again, but she just shook it off. She smiled as she continued to lead Zeke. They ran straight towards the forest and approached the grove. She stopped right next to the pond and smiled at Zeke. "The spot... where we first kissed... remember?" she asked and smiled.

 

Zeke's smile widened. "Of course...how could I forget?" he remarked, as he brought his arms around her, bringing her into a close, affectionate embrace. Planting a soft kiss upon her lips, he looked deep into her eyes. "You look beautiful...like always..."

 

Anna smiled as she gently wrapped her arms around his waist, kissing him gently on the lips. She smiled as she gently laid her head on his chest. She suddenly took a step back from him when she started to get dizzy again. She shook her head a bit. Not now... she thought.

 

Hearing her thought, Zeke's eyes furrowed with concern. "Anna...are you okay?" he asked, worried. "Anna...what...what is it?" He softly placed his hand upon her shoulder, ready to encircle her waist and catch her if she were to fall.
