I spell tire like tire and you cannot do anything about it.

 

I tire of arguing about said spelling of the word tire which we spell tyre.

The reason we spell tire as tire and not tyre is because our country is not technologically advanced enough to have true rubber "tyres" and therefore must settle with the alternative word which means fatigued or exhausted.

 

The reason any of these spelling differences occur is accents.That's really it. British people and American people pronounce certain sequences of letters differently, and so, in order to prevent the words from being brutally raped in a verbal fashion, their spelling is changed in the hopes of preserving some of the original pronunciation. Now please, let's not let this become another nationality war.

 

Jesus Christ, for someone complaining about misuse of the English language (in a baseless manner, mind you) you sure do use punctuation wrong all the fucking time.

 

Somehow when you point it out it's all the funnier.
