Satoshi hesitated. "Yeah, I'm ready."

 

Gaara smiled and turned in the direction of home.He began heading that way.

 

Satoshi followed, walking on Gaara's right side so that she could see him. "I've made you worry... Sorry..."

 

"..Your alright..that's all that matters to me..''Gaara said softly.

 

I can't make him worry anymore. Or anyone else. I'll just have to keep it a secret. Satoshi thought, looking at her feet as she walked.

 

"..So what's it like?..being so close to death?"Gaara asked,still looking straight forward.

 

"Numbness, really.... Just not feeling anything... I..." Satoshi wrapped her arms around herself. "I almost wished it would end..."

 

"But..why?"Gaara came to a stop and looked her in the eyes.

 

"By then, it seemed nothing mattered... I'd... lost myself..." Satoshi admitted. "They told me... They told me you'd been killed... I was so... empty..."

 

"But im here,safe,and unharmed...dont give up if im gone,just carry on..''Gaara said,stroking her cheek.

 

Satoshi flinched, unable to see Gaara's movements, but his touch was comforting and she relaxed. "How could I? I don't know what to do without you."

 

"..I feel the same way,Satoshi..but im not always going to be there..''Gaara explained with a sad tone.

 

Satoshi lowered her eyes. "And what if I go first? What if Akatsuki comes back? What will you do if I'm gone..?"

 

Gaara gave her a Sai-like smile."I'll just hunt down every last one of them and kill them in the most gruesome way possible..''

 

Satoshi looked up at Gaara. He seems different somehow... She managed a smile. "then I'll just have to do my best so you don't have to do that."

 

"Right..''Gaara nodded and continued on his way with her.

 

But my best isn't the same anymore.... Looks like I'll be having private training again... Satoshi thought, looking at the ground.

 

"..Did you find a way to get the Gobi out of you?"Gaara asked.

 

It took a moment for Satoshi to hear what Gaara had asked. "What? Well, no... I haven't given much thought to that..."

 

"..Why not?"Gaara asked,stepping into the border of Suna.
