Can someone explain to me why people like Dragon Ball Z?

Blue Popo is 4kids doing. The best thing they did was when the Saibamen blew up Yamcha was on the ground groaning when he was suppose to be dead. Never laughed so much before. It didn't help when Krillin said that he was sent to the otherworld despite the fact we heard Yamcha groan

I don't see whats wrong with Kai. Much more fast paced and all that useless charging time/ background shots was cut out. Also lots of boring fillers cut out (Gohan's training in the wild and trip to Namek)

 

I hate the bgm and new voice actors. That's all.​

 

It freaked the bejeebers out of me when I was little. Haven't been able to tolerate it since. :/

 

It's just ridiculous. It's the same thing every time. Some villain threatens to destroy the planet, the Saiyans fight and win but then they just get stronger and go to the next "form", they're too powerful for anyone to beat, but then at the last moment the heroes discover some amazing power (kaioken/super sayain 1/2/3) and defeat the villain (And it's the same thing with Naruto too, just replace super saiyan with Rasengan/Chidori/whatever). Oh and there's about 20 episodes of filler. And half of the show is yelling. I seriously do not understand the appeal.

 

Well, that just means you're growing up. Shonen is basically all you've described. At least, that's what most are. Same for magical girl shows. They'll go for monster of the week filler if need be, since they're all about action and heroism. Kids like it.

 

Well, of course. I loved DBZ as a kid, who wouldn't? What I don't get is people who are my age and still like it (i.e. all my friends)

 

I guess its because it was what people wanted

Dragonball Z was not suppose to be so long. Originally it was suppose to end at the Frieza saga but fan wanted more and it continued on. They kept begging until we finally hit GT. Hell originally Ultimate Gohan was suppose to defeat Buu but fans loved Goku so we got the ending with the spirit bomb (evidence is Fusion Reborn). All the yelling and filler was so they couldn't pass the manga.

I don't look to Dragonball Z for the story I look to it for the fights. I like the simple storyline

I don't understand what's great about the fights either. Some of them are literally dragged out for over 10 episodes

 

To put it bluntly, nostalgia.

 

Nostalgia is a great thing, my friend.

In the anime, they were dragged out because if they didn't, the anime would have passed the manga and they would've had to make even more filler. Same thing happens with a lot of other Shonen mangas that get adapted into animes.

It's entertainment. And I myself enjoy the series.
