Can we ever really understand the opposite sex?

I have always been a tomboy kinda chick and I have always got along better with guys than girls and thought I was able to understand them quite well, until the other day when I found out my best mate (who is a dude) who has been my best mate for 6 years! Has had a crush on me for the past 4 and a half!! I mean how could I have not picked up on that?? Anyway it got me to thinking there is a lot which confuses the heck out of me about the male species in general, and it got me to wondering can either sex really ever understand each other?? I don't know anymore, lol I'm so confused right now :( everything i thought I knew has kinda been thrown up in the air!

 

it's impossible, don't just because we are the opposite sex. but also because we all are different, and act different.

And for Women...watch Monty Python and the Holy Grail, then procede to watch Family Guy.

 

Lol I love Monty Python and Family Guy! But it doesn't really help me understand! I mean I thought I already did! So how do I know whether I actually do or whether it's just that I think I do? (ok that made so much more sense in my head before I typed -_- )

Erm sorry? Can you explain that for me please? Isn't that like saying that chicks should understand dudes cos they are attracted to them? Because bisexual people just have an attration to both sexes not neccessarily an understanding???

 

I'm a tomboy and someone who is my friend for four years has a crush on me. Unlike you, CTR, I saw it. Since I've been around guys a lot of my life than girls, it is quite easy to understand when I'm annoying or an idiot.

 

Well other than the fact I didn't pick up on the crush thing, I always thought I understood things like that too! And that is my point! It's not that I'm dense or something you know! It's just made me question how much I really do understand!

 

definitely impossible. there's no way we can learn about EVERY aspect of the opposite sex. for example: i dont' even know how to put on a skirt, lol. do u put it over ur head like a shirt or put it on through ur legs like pants? i THINK the only possible way would be to get married to someone.

Same. Theres lots of things men can learn about women. Nearly everything I imagine.
But I can DEFINATELY think of two things off the top of my head that men will never epirience/understand...
Same for women...so really I guess there will always be a bit of a gap, and thats what makes it work. I mean, between people, theres still a gap as well. So no matter what, there is no way that your best friend will even understand everything...

I understand all of the guys in my school...funny thing is...I'm a girl and I don't understand the girls in my class at all...

 

Here's an answer.....no, the opposite sex is unpredictable, whether you're a boy or girl, there's two different sides of the story...girls says boys are this and that and pretty much vice versa to girls.

But thats what I keep trying to say lol! I honestly thought that I did! lol most girls confuse the heck out of me and I am one, lol I thought guys were something I understood! Lol I always can tell when they like girls but obviously I dont understand them as much as I thought lol my head hurts!

 

We can understand the opposite sex...just not fully.
But the closest a man can ever come close to understanding the opposite sex is by being gay.

We both act differently, we like different things and we do different things.
Yet, naturally we have a lot of things in common.(That both sexes can like)

 

Most of my friends growing up were guys. I so did not understand females which was the strangest thing since I am one. They always wanted to do girl things and I always wanted to play in the dirt and stuff. oo;

I wasn't quite a tomboy since I didn't play many sports besides field/floor hockey.

I think it's impossible to know everything about the opposite sex but at least make an effort to understand them.

I guess your right. Unless we are the opposite sex, we don't really understand them, because we don't know them. It does seem that you don't know who you really are. And most people don't. That's why we can't understand the opposite sex. Because we don't know ourselves enough to even guess what the opposite is, which in your case would be boy. So until you understand yourself as a girl, you'll never figure the boys out. Well you will, but just not completely.

 

You can understand somethings, but not the other.

I have a twin brother, and ive been teaching him girl talk. Currently, he is at level 3 :p

And I sorta get some stuff ( I live with my twin, so i sorta have to understamd SOME things...) But others things, are just weird and I will probably never get. :/
