ladies and gentlemen, i welcome you to the forum about ladies and gentlemen.

how come children and young adults and even older people have such great differences in gender? was it truly built in our genes for girls to love shopping and make-up and for boys to be sport freaks and tough? why are tomboys/tomgirls not "attractive?" is it all to blame on the media? are guys truly the more perverted ones? are girls truly more sensitive than guys?

    what say you?

Well the only part of that I can tell you..is that girls are scientifically proven to have a higher sex drive than guys...which isn't a big consolation to their perversion, but oh well.

And I personally think it can be a gene trait. However, it's mostly on how they were raised, and what they like in their opinions. =/

    Basically what Darky said.

Girls can be perverted too...they just don't show it *shrugs*.

Not all boys are sport-freaks and tough. It all depends on how they were brought up, their interests and role-models.

I also find tomboys attractive, I'm a little confused about the sex drive thing. You talking about after they reach their sexual peak? I mean the Testosterone begs to differ. Supposing you one of each at an equal stage of sexual... promiscuity. Is that the word? Eh, and finally, I'm a sensitive guy. Too sensitive... And you're right, it is my childhood that's to blame.

Things like this go down deep deep deep into the very being of a human. Back in the stone age, Men HAD to be amazing athletes to protect their families. And also, this "perversion" you speak of is only instinct. It's the same with women.

And I don't find tomboys attractive becuase...well...they can be REALLY *****y sometimes...

I disagree with the girls liking make-up and shopping! I don't like shopping at all for anything, but I don't consider myself a tom boy.

and to answer your question, it's just free will. Sure, genes can also be the problem but most of it is just "Because they want to."

yeah, this is really confusing =/
i think that boys just grow up with seeing other boys and men being all athletic and tough, and vice versa with girls
what i don't know is how it all started...

Well, the athletics for Boys began at the dawn of time. Men had to be tough and strong to protect their families and hunt.

The women liking shopping and clothes and stuff, that's fromt he media. Back when the rise of media first began...women weren't overly attractive...

But when they saw all these beautiful singers and actresses, they wanted to be like them and bought out everything in every store everywhere...:)

It's really a question of nature vs. nurture. Do both sexes start out as baby relatively the same? What is stronger the effect of the media and parental and other influence or the effect of genes and hormones?

What I have to say is that I am a guy and could probably care for nothing less than I care for sports or shopping (unless for technology). What could that mean?

I think it's about how we was rised and who we take after

eg. I take after my dad, in look and in how i act (so I'm told) anyways I'm not at all girly and I would say i was cuteish, I know of some boys who don't even like sports and are more 'femini' then me, so all in all media lies to us a lot of the time

I agree that it's mostly controlled by nurture. I am independent and practical, and love technology, though I'm not really sporty. I like sensitive guys, though I don't believe you can stereotype the sexes. I'm not counted as particularly 'girly' but does that mean I'm not feminine? I don't think so. I just think that guys shouldn't be pigeonholed by gender, just as you can't judge girls that way. Maybe we're not so different after all.

You do have a point about boys and girls and there differences but tomboy's and tomgirl's can be attractive tomgirls that are skinny wear tight jeans(see were im getting at) and skinny tough tomboys wear ripped shirts(which shows off muscels ) or they can be attractive for who they are.

okay...well i think its by what they see...In my skool, girls who like video games, hate shopping, like asian music (or any music consider "odd"), and is just not girly-material like is rejected. It's the same with guys too. The only reason ppl say Girls love to shop and Guys are a sport-person is because its one of those things that's been going on for a long time. And in many places, like my skool, if ur not like that ur rejected....

Im not soo much girly at all...o and the perverted thing...yea me and my girls r perverted...i just think its kinda like a personality...but i think girls may be perverted to their friends or something...

...That last sentence was interesting O.O

It's the same with the 'you like video games, omg, REJECTED!' mood these days. I associate with both sides though. People who like video games and people who like sports/shopping.

Today, most teenagers are afriad to be jeered at and be rejected. It changes what one does and who they are.

ahhh, the great nature vs. nurture question. are we born to be who we are, or does society make us who we are? if you ask me, girls and guys are very much naturally different. men, like many male animals, use to be hunters and needed to aggresive to fight enemies and to claim their place amongst the rest of the men. women raised children, and thus needed to be patient and calm. as far as sex drives go, well both genders needed this to keep the race going. i think maybe males had more of it cause they needed to have sex with various females in order to procreate faster, while women had to spend nine months pregnant and then even more time caring for the child. so thats nature.

as far as nuture goes, i think society just reinforces this and can push males and females to extremes. like guys having to be macho and girls having to be soft spoken, shoppers. you can enhance a male or female's natural tendencies.

and yes, girls can be just as sexually driven as guys.

I know guys who are jocks and guys who are, to put it bluntly, real pansies. Who am I friends with? Teh pansies. xDDD

I... enjoy shopping... -brick'd- Only with friends though, and if only there is no REAL purpose for it. Like, if I have to get someone a gift, I panic and go EVERYWHERE. But if my one friend calls me and goes "Hey, wanna go piss off the people at the mall by trying on all the prom dresses?" I'm in.

And yet, I'm a girl who plays video games. xP And I'm not rejected at school at all! Then again, by some strange coincidence, I know at least ten people in my classes that are literate online, know what RPG is, play FF or KH... etc. So yeah.

And girls can be perverted as boys.

    Trust me.

If someone recorded everything I said everyday, they'd find quite a few perverse comments when I'm chatting with the guys. And it's not like I'm a flirt- they're combacks for what they've said to me. xDDD

I'm generally shy when it comes to dating and such though. >.< But my one friend is VERY upfront, so... Yeah, like people have been saying... it just depends.
