Drake was surprised and speachless for a moment but returned back to his calm self "you confuse me. You rushed out to help some people that you don't even know even though you probably would not gain anything. I decided to follow and see why" Drake said

 

Clara walked over to the next person, it was a woman, who was obviously dying, she had hit her head on a rock, hard and was bleeding badly, her small child lay next to her, already dead. She stared at them for a few moments, speechless, then turned her head away staring at the ground, before turning to Drake. "I don't need to gain anything when I can help prevent things like this from happening!" She yelled at him. The anger in her face subsided as she looked at Drake. Clara felt bad for yelling at him afterwards, it wasn't like her to yell, and she wasn't mad at him, she was mad that this had happened.

 

Drake 's eyes widened as he looked at her surprised. "was I wrong all along. Are humans not as selfish as I thought" Drake said as he held his head once more as memories continued to fill his mind again

 

Clara saw him clutch his head, for some reason she instantly thought that it was her fault. Quickly she ran up to him and grabbed his arm gently, "I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to yell at you, I..I don't know what I was thinking." She pleaded.

 

"no...no you did nothing wrong. Its just memories of the pain I felt long ago have come back. that pain was caused by one person. the person I trusted and cared for the most" Drake said

 

Clara continued to hold onto his arm. "I'm sorry.....I'm so sorry. They must be horrible memories, it must hurt a lot." She said softly, looking at the ground.

 

Drake looked at her and sighed "All my life I have seen nothing but selfishness. My own parents treated me like dirt because of my power and planned to use those powers when I grew of age. I ran away when I was 8 and met a homeless boy that was the same age. We became friends.....brothers for 4 years until he found out about me being a Derma. He was given money in order to kill me. He accepted and he tried his best to kill me. In the end in order to survive I had to kill him." Drake said as he shut his eyes tightly "I can't trust anybody" Drake said

 

Clara stepped closer and hugged him tightly. "I'm sorry that that happened to you, that one boy hurt you so bad, and that you think that everyone is like that. But there are so many people who are kind, and willing to help other, including you." She said to him, still not looking up.

 

Drake was amazed at what she said "y-you think Im kind?" Drake said

 

Clara stepped back and nodded, smiling. "Of course, you've been very kind to me. You even saved my life."

 

Drake looked at her strangely "you a very strange girl" Drake said but then suddenly smiled for the first time in a long time "but your also a very kind person" Drake said

 

Clara smiled at him. "Thank you." She said. Suddenly another piece of building collapsed farther away making a loud boom that rumbled the ground. The sound brought Clara back to what was going on. Without another word she hurried to the next person who was injured, she had never been in a war zone before so she wasn't used to seeing so much blood and gore. When she worked at the Inn as a nurse back in Towaira she had just treated normal everyday sicknesses, but this was a little out of her league. The woman here had her arm crushed under a rock and was just lying there in pain. First Clara tried to push the rock off of her arm, but she wasn't strong enough.

 

Drake ran up to the rock and pushed it off with all his might and got up and looked around "take care of them. I will be on guard and try and stop any rubble" Drake said to her calmly

 

Maria tried to help as many as she could with mixed successes, she was a solider and before that a thief she knew more about fighting and strategy than medicine and healing.

Cailen waited to he had burned true the ribbon "Hey i'm trying to do my daily killing here. Go kill someone else this guy is mine" he was truly offended

 

"By the order of King Edward, you're under arrest for the destruction of...well the city." Benjamin said walking casually up to Cailen.

Jane couldn't believe that he had burned through her ribbons. But she continued to pull on them to keep Matt down, and watched Ben and Cailen carefully making sure he didn't attack Ben.

Clara looked up at him and nodded. She turned to the woman and bent down next to her. Quickly she pulled up her hair, to get it out of her face and rolled up her sleeves. Then examined the arm. There was no choice but to amputate, it was completley crushed. "Drake...I'm going to need your sword." She said to him softly. She had never done and amputation, but she had seen it done before and was pretty sure how to do it, she just wasn't sure her stomach was going to be able to take it.

 

"Why?"Cailen asked he didn't understand "I'm only killing people"he said not seeing what was wrong with that.


Maria looked up at what was happening with Ben, Jane, Cailen and Matt "What are they" she asked herself. as a low class citizen she wasn't well educated.

 

Drake pulled out his sword "I advise you close your eyes" Drake said calmly as he cut off the arm showing no disgust

 

"Exactly. You may either go quietly or we'll take you by force." Ben said as he continued to walk closer, he was fed up with this destruction, considering it was him who was going to get in trouble by the king and you could see his frustration on his face.

Clara did as he said and closed her eyes and turned her head away as he did the deed. The woman screamed in agony, before passing out from shock. Clara quickly wrapped the shoulder with the cloth applieing pressure. Blood seeped through and she ripped off more of her dress, she was running out of cloth, and continued wrapping. She looked around at the destruction and the many, many casualties as more and more buildings collapsed. There was no way she would be able to do it all by herself.

 

"Can i kill you"Cailen asked curious, his face looked so innocent it was creepy. He formed a fireball in his hand. "I can torch you if you want" he said with a smile.

"Whats up with that guy?" Maria said in shock

 

Drake looked over at her "Im going to gather as much people as I can into a safe area" Drake said calmly as he ran over and started to gather people
