"A.are you sure? Because I really don't mind." Clara said looking up at him.

Anna sat staring at the stars, feeling bored, she wasn't tired at all, and Ben and Jane had fallen asleep. She picked up a pebble by her foot and tossed it around in her hand before chucking it, hard, at Matt, hitting him right in the head.

 

Drake raised his right arm "it's fine you don't have to worry about me" Drake said

 

"OW!" Matt yelled, waking up from his sleep. "Hey lady, what the hell was that for!" he complained. "You know, you could have a bit more respect. After all, I'M the one who's the guest here. Really, such a mean host." he complained.
He let out a sigh and hopped up off of the ground and on his feet. He then began tugging on the ropes binding his hands, and used his ability to send extra adrenaline to his arms, increasing the strength in each while numbing it to avoid the pain of the rope burns. He then pulled them apart, breaking the rope, giving the appearance of it being a simple task. But the moment he allowed his nerves to become active again...
"OWWW!!!!" he yelled allowed as he waved his hands around, trying to cool off the rope burn, the pain horrible, as if he had recieved hundreds of paper cuts at once.

 

Maria was lying down looking up at the stars. She could still feel the pain from the burns but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. She was thinking of what had happened and tried to make sense of it all, but since she knew little about dermas she had to many questions. "Ben i have a question, is it usual for dermas to think that they have to kill people?"

Cailen felt weird, everyone was angry at him at he didn't get why. He had only torch the girl. In the past old man Reaver would have praised him for doing something like that. but these people where angry at him. "I just dont get it"He thought

 

Demetrio was tired.... he walked near a tree and drew his spear, he then sat down with it in his arms and dosed off.

 

She yawned while talking, "Ok then, but if it really hurts come get me. Oh! That's right! Maria!. Sorry I should go check on her." Clara said as she started to fast walk towards the others, she was too tired to run.

"You're not a guest, your more like pawn." Annabel said. Then watched as he acted all tough to break the rope she had tied, then screamed in pain from the rope burn, and she laughed like hell.

Ben looked at Jane who was sleeping right next to him, though he couldn't really tell if she ever slept fully because she slept so lightly. "Well I don't think so, my brother was a Derma, and he never had the urge to kill anyone and everyone, and when I first met Jane she was wild like that either, so either those two are weird or they are." Ben said nodding over to Cailen and Matt.

 

Drake nodded and walked with her. He was still wide awake "we have a bit of a far distance to walk. You sure you can make the walk" Drake said

 

"I think he doesn't know better. Look at him, he looks really confused right now. Like he doesn't know what is going on" Maria said looking at Cailen who indeed looked like he was confused.

 

"Oh yeah, I'm fine." Clara said smiling. Then she looked up at the sky while continueing to walk, "It's really beautiful night out." She whispered more to herself.

Ben looked over at Cailen, "That's true, but he needs to learn, and I'm not going to teach him, what he needs is to sign a contract with someone so they can keep him in line."

 

Drake walked with her and then noticed her look at the sky and then looked up at the sky aswell. He stared at the sky for a while as he walked

 

Suddenly she tripped on a root, "Oof......" She picked herself back up and started brushing off her still ripped skirt from earlier that day, embarrassed. "Sorry.... heh, I wasn't paying attention." She muttered.

 

"Contract, whats that? sorry i don't really know much about dermas. I only learned about them yesterday" Maria said turning over looking at Ben. She was forcing a straight face to hide the pain from the burns.

 

Drake suddnely ran up to her "are you alright?" Drake said almost sounding like was actually worried about her

 

"Derma's are able to sign contracts with humans, once signing a contract they become even more powerful than they were before they signed it. It is also their responsiblity and really only desire to protect their human "masters" though most don't really call their contractors masters, just Jane does." As he said this he looked at Jane, he didn't know why Jane started calling him master and being so formal with him, most of the contracts he'd seen between other dermas and humans were more casual. After looking at her for a minute he focused his attention back at Maria. "They become completley obsessed with their masters, protection and happiness, and would do anything for them. Also when their contractors die, so do they, a derma literally cannot live without thier contractors."

"Uh huh. I'm fine, I actually trip a lot." She said not wanting to look at his face because she was so embarrassed. It was true that she fell all the time, but she still hadn't gotten used to it, so she still got embarrassed.

 

"I see, how do one enter a contract with a derma?"Maria said still focusing on keeping a straight face.

Cailen laid down on the ground, he was really pissed right now. Mostly due to his confusion. He was trying to get his thoughts straight, something that wasn't an easy task for someone who usually didn't think.

 

"That I'm not too sure about, the derma does all of the work all you do is sign. All I remember about signing the contract was...falling asleep... I think? I don't know, but it was just Jane and I and we were surrounded by darkness and there was a piece of paper in front of me, as soon as I signed it, all of these chains started wrapping themselves around her and they all came together to a small chain that clamped to my wrist while she was surrounded with them. And that was it, that's all I remember about signing the contract. I asked her to sign one with me (not that she really had a choice at the time) and that was that." Ben said, as he talked he got quieter and kept glancing down at Jane almost checking to make sure the chains weren't visible.

 

"that sounds kinda creepy"Maria said she sighed. "Well i'll try to sleep now good night Ben, Jane." she quickly due to pain and exhaustion. She quikly fell into rapid dreams about dermas, war, fires and chains. She was turning every so often. Her dreams quikly turned to nightmares

Drake sighed and then noticed her trying to avoid looking at him "Are you embarrassed? You don't have to be. People fall all the time" Drake said

 

"Pawn? To you?" Matt said, storming up towards Anna. "You think that you're in a position to use me as a pawn? If I felt like it, I could kill you all if I wanted to." he said, and leaned down infront of her. "Especially a woman like you. You couldn't hurt a fly" he said, daring to go the distance, willing to do the impossible, as he stuck his finger out, and poked her for head, just for the sake of angering her. He had a smug look upon his face when he did this to this infuriatingly annoying female.

 

Ben nodded, and looked down at Jane, to tell the truth it hadn't been scary, he had bearly known Jane when they signed the contract, so he didn't care about her at all.

Working up the nerve to look at him she smiled, "Heh, I tend to fall a lot more than most." She said.

Anna grabbed his finger and yanked it towards her, pulling him closer as she made a fist and punched him in the face.
