Clash of the races'

now and then Elena would whimper or sniffle

 

Hermia wished she could change back into human form and try to comfort the child better. But as her clothes were now rags strew around the woodland floor she couldn't without some extreme nudity, which even she felt was innapropriate around a small girl.

 

"Daddy!"Elena cried,seeing the larger blonde-grey wolf,who turned back into a human

He relief was greatly shown on his face"Elena.."he breathed

 

"Elena!" Lake cried, running towards the girl and picking her up off of the wolf's back. She cuddled the child close to her, tears of fear trickling down her face.

 

"Mummy!"she cried hugging her mother tightly,crying too

"are you ok sweetie?"Mickey asked smoothing her hair down

 

Lake continued to cuddle her tightly, gently she kissed the top of her daughter's head.

Hermia soundlessly turned around and headed back towards where she'd left River and Cadey.

 

"Your ok now...your ok.."he soothed her

River was still kneeling beside Cadey


"He wanted....me to go with him...he said I'd live....but I said no and he went to attack me but Elena bit him...."she gasped through sobs

 

Lake hiccuped slightly, still holding the girl tightly.

Hermia slowly wandered over to them, sitting down besides Cadey.

 

"Its still him in there...you know it....look what he had around his neck..."she held up a neckless,two things on it,one a large friendship right,the other a delicate D.

River focused on the ring,he fingered it slightly,before looking at his cousin again

 

Hermia watched the two of them carefully.

 

"You know it River.....why else did you hold back tonight? part of you still hopes doesnt it? you act like I do....like you cant stand him....but part of you still wants Danny to be there....you dont want to hurt him..."


"Thats not the point is it?"He asked turning away so they could see his X shaped cut" they think Danny is gone....and in a way..he has."

 

Hermia growled slightly, frustrated she couldn't really join in with the conversation. And more frustrated that they couldn't simply accept that the boy they had known was gone, lost to the blood lust of the undead.

 

he looked at Hermia and as if reading her thoughts he said"He's gone Cadey...time to accept it...Im starting too.."He stood up"Lets get back...I want to see my sister."


she bit back the tears but stood up,she was not going to cry....he was right....just because Danny still had these things didnt mean he cared

 

Hermia stood back up onto her four paws. She shook herself quickly to rid herself of the leaves that had been left from the previous trips.

 

He changed intoa a wolf for the final time that night and jerked his head,telling Cadey to get on his back,it would be faster

 

Hermia started back towards the camp as fast as possible through the thick wood.

 

he followed her,careful not to jerk Cadey around much

 

Hermia emerged out of the woodlands and looked around, seeing who else was around.

 

Mickey looked up,Relaxing again "There they are...River......are you bleeding again?"

 

Hermia wandered over to her tent and shifted just as she dove inside.
