Glad I didn't visit his site. A bit too far Sony, but I don't really care that much honestly.

But since I haven't actually done anything besides play games and movies, listen to music and browse the internet, there's nothing for me to be worried about. If they take it, they'll have to have reason to take it (Which I guess they have) but I haven't installed anything or changed anything since the last OFW I downloaded.

That's not what I'm complaining about here. You agreed to give Sony your information anyway when you signed up for PSN.

I did not. I watched geohot's video, go to his site, and frequent his blog. I do not even OWN a PS3. Sony has absolutely no right to my information. There are many others in my situation. And we are pissed off.

The thing that baffles me the most is: Why? Where's the benefit in tracking down supposed hackers over a product that's already been paid for? They have their money, consumers wil continue to buy products (if it wasn't for this little stunt, anyway), so why throw themselves right in the fire for the negative publicity!?

Economically, it just doesn't make any sense! o_o

So according to that article, the fact that I just so happen to watch Hotz's video showing the homebrew(or at least I thinki it was his), even though I had no intention of using it, I'm automatically a criminal for doing so?

    **** you sony. Twice.

Sony really is going overkill in this whole situation, imo. It seems to me like they're trying to make an example out of this kid. :/

But yeah, I have to agree that it I'd be a little more understanding if they simply took those who downloaded the hack/whatever, but everyone who visited the site? Watched his YouTube video? That's just over the top.

Well, BANG goes my trust in Sony. They want me to buy another product bearing their brand name, they better clean their act right the hell up, and RIGHT THIS DAMN MINUTE.

Heh, well, I sure as hell ain't keeping my PSP, either. To my eBay page so I can make this someone else's problem! LOl I keed, I keed. But, yeah, Sony went off the deep end this time. Why not just get the kid thrown in jail for a few years, protect your rep, and not make Sony haters out of the world because you overreacted? Oh, yeah, now I remember why: You're SONY OF AMERICA! You can screw over every consumer in the world because one person toyed with the major settings of the PS3 for reasons not pertaining to piracy, and still get away in the right. Yeah, no. Sony, your moves are just as illicit, if not MORESO, then the person at the root of the problem.

So Abstergo is finally on the move. It was only a matter of time before these things started happening.

Sony is completely justified. It's the hackers' fault for trying to ruin the online experience for everyone else. Now they're facing their just and righteous punishment from Sony.

I fully advocate the death penalty for any and all of the criminals they catch. Anything less would be unacceptable. The legitimate userbase of the PS3, not to mention the public, needs to be protected from these menaces to society.

Well, I can't blame you for that.
I have a PS3 (never really use it, much prefer the 360)
and thankfully, I've never been to geohots site or seen his vid etc etc.
But, I must say... Sony does go way too far.
And this isn't anywhere near the first time...
Need I remind you how they screwed over Code Junkies with the PSP
Code Junkies, being another legit company that originally had permission to sire a Product to be used on the PSP

either way... Sony has been going down in my books for years.
One of the main reasons I've kept up with their consoles is for the great games that are exclusive to them.
Anything else thats cross console, I tend to get on my 360...
    but yeah, either way.
I want to say to Sony (and have wanted to for the longest time despite my earlier jokey posts in this thread)
**** you up your candy black holes Sony!

I laughed at this. I was done right when it said "Privacy, crime, and security online." in the title banner.

but THIS is what makes it unfair. they need to fix their search as to anyone who may have clicked the download button instead of the site. this i agree is a bit TOO far. oh well. Just another PS3 **** up.

Hah, Sony is going nowhere with this stuff anyways. They just reached paranoia.
Well if you're so pissed at Sony, sue them for invasion of privacy. Could be something if everyone who is pissed at them did it. Thousands of sues against them.

Sony can pay those expenses from just their income in last summer.
