Death Note: The Past Future

Saint continued to pace the hall ways with his music still on as he looked into the room he just passed a room that had some people in it but he only got a glimpse because he quickly turned his head and yawned.

 

"Mello... Umm... This is awkward... Umm, he has a girlfriend already... Someone in the town. And... well you know... I kinda... and he doesn't..."

 

"I see..." L muttered. "Well Mello has a habit of trying to do things to make Near jealous... this girl could just be an attempt at that..."

 

"But still... Then if that's true, what if he does the same thing to me?"

 

"He'll get a lecture..." L explained. "And grounded."

"But, how can you tell when someone's being truthful about that kind of thing or not. He could use me like that and no one would know because well... He managed to keep up the facade so well... A-and if he used me like that I..." She explained, her voice crackig with emotion by the end of it. A mixture of all the disapointment, suspicions, worries, anxity and the embarssament of having this conversation, let alone with L, the closest thing she'd ever had to a father or a older brother.

 

"There will be signs..." L explained. "But it's really none of my concern as to what you do. If you wish to be with Mello then persist on it, if you don't then leave him be..."

 

"It must seem so logical from a clear perspective... Emotions make life so hard... I've been trying to figure this out for almost over a year now... It doesn't get any easier." She sighed "I'm hopless..."

 

"Not hopeless." L disagreed. "Just emotional."

 

Juliet shifted her weight slightly as she looked up at him, looking straight into his dark, almost black eyes. Slowly a drawn out and sad smile passed over her naturally red lips "Same thing isn't?..."

 

"Depends on your view points." L further explained. "If you believe showing emotion makes you pathetic then i'm not one to say differently, just acknowledge that by doing so you call Mello pathetic..."

 

"No! That's not what I ment! I... I... I don't know anymore..."

 

"Well, why don't you just sit down and talk t osomeone?"

 

"Everyone's so wrapped up in their own thing, and there are people with bigger issues then "Why doesn't he like me?" I can figure this one out. I know I can, it's just going to be more difficult then I'd dreamed it would be." She tried to explain. "And I really, really didn't mean to say anything degority about him... He's one of the few here that aren't emotionally bankrupt."

 

L sighed. "I'm not too busy... And the point was that you're not pathetic..."

 

"It's alright L, what's a few months more? I doubt it'll last forever, I mean it's been a year already. It's gotta run out eventually... Doesn't it?"

 

"In oersonal opinion, it is logical." L agreed. "Though, acocrding to others it never goes away."

 

"I honestly don't know which one I prefer..." She sighed weakly, brushing her hair behind her ear.
