Dissing things that people like.

Okay this had been kinda bugging me for sometime now since a girl at college made fun of me for going to see Mcfly live.

Why do you think people disrespect things that other people like, but then mouth off when people do it back to them. IMO I think people should let other people like things that they hate, e.g. me and 2Foxxie4U are good friends but she like RnB music and I hate that kinda music, but I would never cut her down because of it.

So don't you think people who disrespect what others like, childish?

 

Eh, shes just being immature. I always TEASE people about things, but I never say its bad. Just ignore it. Its your opinion.

 

She's just looking to create drama. It's a fact of life that people are immature when it comes to what other people like since we don't like the same thing that other people like.

Or she is self centered and only things she likes are acceptable.

Hit the proverbial mute button and ignore her. People can just be cruel sometimes-- it's part of life. Idiots like that usually end up bagging your groceries in a lot of cases, so why bother with what they say. What matters is what you think.

they just think they're right and its offensive to them for anyone to tell them their not. I think its partly a maturity thing and partly an ignorant thing. just ignore her, its the best way to go.

 

Things like this tick me off so much...

I get made fun of for reading mangas all the time and listening to bands like Flyleaf and Fall Out Boy.

It's probably one of the biggest things that makes people want to kill themselves. :/

What I do is either ignore them, or dis them in some way.

I usually tell this crackhead at school to shut it or I'll rip off his jaw and throw it into the ocean and make him go get it, then he usually shuts up. :/

Anyway, the best thing would probably be ignore her. :/

 

She just can't stand something not going her way or just doesn't like things that she doesn't like. Shes self centered and seems to find only things acceptable, if she likes them.

If somebody's ripping at you just becuase you like something they don't, too bad for them. They're the ones missing out on something that is probably really cool and that's their fault. Just try to ignore them and don't insult them back.

I dont think it should really matter. If that girl at college acts like a self-centered *censored* who by now should at least have grown some sort of maturity is bothering you, just ignore her or just go home.

 

Guy, you can stop telling me to ingore her now, I just wanted to say how there are people out there who are too self-centered .

 

People diss things that others like because they see what they like and belief to be true so they think that you should like and belief the same things as them. Lol, in a way they just want you to be happy or to help you better yourself by choosing the same things as them as they are obviously right because they like it.

 

I get dissed by my friends at school about stuff I like. I just shrug it off because I know that those type of people dis others because of their own insecurities and fears.

 

So the point of this was to simply re-affirm what you already know....

 

I think it's because some people are insecure and rude... they don't know how to be considerate and have to take out that anger on others in order to compensate for something.

And I don't care if people don't like the things I like. If you like it then why care? It's like a bad album review for one of your favorite bands. Does it really matter what the reviewer thinks if you like it? People are all different; people like different things. It doesn't go much deeper than that.

 

It sucks that some people have to be that way and can't leave others to enjoy what they want. I think this makes some people feel like they have to be embarrassed and not enjoy things but in secrecy that aren't even what moral society would consider 'bad'. It also helps enforce stereotypes and makes people think they can determine someone should be 'less popular' because of preferences like that.

One thing I have learned though is to just enjoy the things you do, so long as they aren't illegal or harmful to others, and just live life and don't worry about what others think. Sometimes it also helps inspire others to not be worried so much about the opinions of others and you also can meet others with similar likes. We are all multi-faceted and like a variety of things. I tend to think the people that do like more diverse things and spread themselves out more tend to be more self-confident and well, people that are generally a lot of fun to be around because they won't just like the same old, same old.

Sadly Annie it is just life that there are going to be people who disagree with you and what you like, but as you like it nad have fun then who cares what anyone else says. Yes there are some self centered people out there and yes there are some shallow people out there. That is life, it's not all rainbows and smiles and we can't all be friends xD sometimes you have people that exist purely for themselves, but by letting it get to you, you let them win :P
