I consider rap, as well as every other genre out there, as music. I personally don't like most rap, and there are very few songs I'll listen to. But even though I don't care for it, I'll admit that it does have everything that considers it to be music, so I can't say it isn't. Disliking something won't alter what it truely is.

    Why wouldn't it be music?
    Because you don't like it?

It is a way of expressing oneself through rhythm and beats

I have to say no, because most of the time the beats are stolen and are used illegally, unfairly, and no consequences are dished out. Besides, rap takes good music and maes it terrible (ex. You Spin Me 'Round (Like a Record) by Dope was turned into "Right 'Round" not too long ago). But, I'm a rap hater. I'm a rocker, so it's kinda obvious. *puts on my 666 Iron Maiden T-shirt* This is my stuff, "playa".

well not mostly but some just like in every other genre so dont blame rap alone because they "steal" songs in rock too
    your just sterio typing
see i could say the same things about rock
    like depends what kind
some is loud and stupid, some is all about love and some about stupid stuff
but since im not like you i understand that some loud rock rocks some sucks, some love songs are good some suck, etc.
so you kno that rap is music but you dont like it because you steriotype it but thats your choice
you dont have to like it to kno its music
and somethimes it hits #1 in the charts just like any other genre
and just because you are a rocker doesnt mean you have to hate rap
    its just plain dumb
its not like they are at war
and the right round song was enjoyable
my girlfriend barely listens to rap only rock but loves the song
so who cares if it was used again but someone else?
the lyrics were changed in the artists perpective because he liked it and wanted to make his own version of it

Rap is a form of music. Most songs have a story, or a meaning behind them, and the basis of music is expression. Rappers express themselves through their music. I only listen to Eminem, but he is awesome at rapping, expressing himself, and telling his story through his music. So yea, rap is counted as music.

Of course rap counts as music. It's a form of self expression using rhyming verses that have a flow, a beat etc.

I don't like it, but i'd hae to say it is a form of music.

It's just a different way. I think that the people that say it isn't are the ones who like the traditional element of a song called "notes" which make a "melody"

I think it is still counted as a form of music, as they still have lyrics.

Well I don't like most american rap, just because all it is is talking about whores, cars, strippers etc. I love british rap, most of it has an actual meaning.

Since it has a beat and it doesn't sound like ****, it's music.

Depends. Rap without the instruments is basically poetry just like other genres. Add instruments and it's music.

Actually the vast majority of American rap isn't trash, but the that you're fed through the media is. Theres a good juicy chunk of wonderful rap music that can be found with a quick google search.

Rap is music, screamo is music, country is music, and music is music.

That song is from Dead or Alive. Plus Flo Rida didn't do a cover of that song, he wrote a song but was told it had a similar beat to "Right Round" so he took the chorus from "You Spin Me" and used it in his song but he also changed the chorus to fit his verse.

You can't call a song a cover if the only thing that is similar is the chorus.
