Birth by Sleep Explanation why BbS is not on the PSN, nor Demos

I searched for threads informing people why SE haven't uploaded BbS into the PSN, or why no demos have been released to the public - just in controlled areas. But since none were found, I'll post one up! If this is in a wrong sec or someone already posted this in KH-Vids, let me know.

(trust me, NO spoilers beyond this point)

Ok. Getting all techky here so if you don't get it, ask =]

The UMD released with a 6.20 PSP OFW update in order to play it.
Some people in the US, Japan, and China, have been working hard to play it on their Memory Sticks. (not just because of this game, but for future games with 6.20 OFW).

Couple days later, major coders and hackers gave up since the codes inside the game (EBOOT.BIN) were too complex, and also because of the fact that the game itself checks for CFW 4 FREAKING TIMES!

1. During Game Boot
2. During Saving
3. After finishing a wold
4. Autosaving

The checks were discovered using methods not allowed to discussed in this forum, but proved real by gamers.


"Why would you care?"

There is another check that finds out if the game is being loaded from the MS. When it's activated, it crashes the game. Because it was made to act this way, there is no PSN download available. Imagine that you shell out 50 bucks for a PSN game that won't even start on your PSP GO or Slim or Phat because it was meant to crash when booting from a Memory other than the UMD..........

Disney doesn't like Pirates, besides their own from the Caribbean.
When they found out games were getting cracked pretty easily on the PSP, Disney ordered SE NOT to release any public demos (unlike any other hyped games like FF) to prevent the game being distributed illegally.

This goes all the way back to KH1. That's why no free demos were given... There are some rumors that a KH2 demo was released with another game, but I don't know if that's true... Prob'ly not.



This game is just the 1st of many more to come that will put an end to piracy on the PSP. Now, I don't want to piss people off by saying
"ooh! you're a hacker, and your time is up!"
or
"ooh! i'm a hacker and I am going to hell and get squirrlaids"
(RWJ) lol

This thread was made to those who have ?'s about why this and why that about the game and not the content.
Also to let people catch up in case they were following the events.

What's PSN? I don't own a PSP so

 

PSN stands for Playstation Network. You can buy games online and download them to your memory stick with it.

I'll I have to say is ****ing japan ****ed up all the pre-orders for BBS that came from play-asia and I have to wait even longer to get my game and I was like wait...maybe I can DL it. Can't do that either. Tricky *******s.

yup yup/// but for now, UMD will have to do. When it hits PSN, in less than 48 hours, the game will be cracked

true, that's one check, but after that, second check comes n then we get the Black SOD.

If Team GEN is feeling pity on us, and decide to come back, the game will prob'ly be playable soon... but for now, let's hope one underdog gets it done.

lmao! same problem here... It was due shipping yesterday, and now we have to wait another freaking week....
thing is, if you got the ISO, and the UMD, you can play the ISO with no problems as long as you keep the UMD (theory-any UMD with 6.20) in the PSP

 

GEN is no longer releasing CFW, Yoshihiro stated it himself because Dark Alex (M33) fanboys kept stealing his work.
As for this, the protection can be defeated. Any "protection" with software can be reversed engineered. Its just with GEN and M33 gone, we are to do this by ourselves.

Kudos to SE for screwing over pirates. Even though its fun to get games for free, it is also the reason the gaming industry will (eventually, if not stopped) die.

 

I know that Yoshihiro said that, but he will continue with his research, but only for himself, just like Team Typhoon on the PSPGo

I don't mind shelling out my bucks for a good game.... just not all the games are worth it...

now about the game, sure everything can be cracked.... with time. the problem is if cracking the game in the JP release, when the US/PAL release the code will change and its back to the drawing board.

 

Yeah, but at that point, I'll already hav bought it. I just don't wanna buy the JP version. If worse coms to worse, We can just Pandora back and forth btween 6.20 and Gen. The only reason I got a psp was for Crisis Core, Dissidia, and BBS, and I already own 2/3 of those.

i had the GoW edition but after Patapon 2, i left it to die in a corner like Bootstrap Turner. when I noticed it died completely, i got a semi-mint-looking slim @ a pawnshop (lucky no scratches)

shoot... and I had that game, and I sold it...
but what I meant by public/free demo, i meant from downloads or a demo cd like the ones the PSX was using... in FFX, you PAID for the game.

 

I did pay for that demo, it came on a CD with a magazine.

Well, the money was for the magazine tbh, the Demo was free, atleast it said so on the magazine.

 

didn't you said that the demo came with FFX?

and I can understand the demo with KH1... it was in a time where people didn't think Disney could have a smashup with Japanese characters....=]

 

No, I never said FFX came with a demo, I said it had a demo on a disk from an issue of official playstation magazine.

FFX did come with a DVD of extras, some of those extras were Kingdom Hearts Trailers and that is what ultimately got me into the series.
