Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas smirked slightly in triumph, his eyes staying on Sora for a minute before they rested on the girl beside him. He saw Kairi gazing in a different direction and he curiously followed it, but then he closed his eyes when he saw Namine. He leaned back and sighed softly, his arms lowering to rest on the armrests. He didn't want to make it seem like anything was wrong, wanting to keep a hold of the lighter atmosphere. All he'd felt lately was one that was darker.

 

Sora glanced down at Kairi, his smirk fading when he noticed that she was looking at Namine with concern in her eyes. Without thought, he brought her a little closer to him, trying to draw her attention away from Namine. He didn't know exactly what was going on in Namine's head, but she probably wouldn't have liked knowing that people were staring at her.

Namine readjusted her grip on her hands, slightly aware the the room was quiet now. She glanced up and saw Sora looking down at Kairi, but she didn't bother turning her head the other way and seeing Roxas. She lowered her head again, just staring at her hands. Even if the room was quiet, she had nothing to say to change that.

 

Kairi turned her head to look at Sora when she felt him move her, the girl's eyes meeting his. She saw the look on his face, and blinked in curiosity. But then again, she was probably just worrying too much. Again.

 

Sora offered Kairi a soft smile, the brunet running his hand over her shoulder without thought. It had been a long time since he held her last just because he could, but this was a strange type of familiar to him. It had been over four months, but at the same time, he had never forgotten the feeling of having her close.

 

Kairi naturally returned Sora's smile when she saw it, especially when she felt his gesture through the sleeve of her shirt. She leaned into him a little more, her knees still drawn up to her chest. Unlike last time, this didn't feel wrong to her. It felt incredibly right, like it was meant to be.

 

Sora continued to lightly run his hand over Kairi's shoulder when she leaned into him, a soft smile staying on the brunet's lips as he shifted his gaze to the ground. He hadn't smiled in a long time, so it felt good to relax and enjoy a time of peace.

 

Kairi let her eyes linger on Sora for a moment, but then her gaze find her knees, and then out of the corner of her eye she saw the girl sitting alone on the couch. Kairi glanced at Namine and then down at her lap once more. She needed to get Namine out of the room if she wanted to see what was wrong.

 

Namine brought up a hand and tucked back a strand of hair, finally figuring out what was bothering her so much. It was Roxas' apology earlier. He had apologized for some things, but he had never said sorry for not believing her when she said she didn't have feelings for Sora. And she realized that he still didn't believe her.

 

Kairi lowered her legs to the floor and set her hands on the couch, turning her head to Sora. "Um, you got any water bottles in the kitchen?" she asked quietly, thinking that was the best excuse to get out of the room.

 

Sora looked over at Kairi, immediately nodding to the question. "I have a bunch in the fridge." He didn't drink anything but water any more, so he was sure to have a lot in stock. He figured now that Kairi was asking because she was thirsty. He would have offered to get her a drink himself, but with the crutches, that would have been impossible.

 

"Okay," Kairi said with a nod, the girl turning her head as she quietly pushed herself up from the couch. She adjusted her shirt once she was standing and walked forward, glancing at her blonde friends at the same time. "I'm going to get a water. Anybody need anything?" Of course, this went out to Sora, too, since he was the one who would need most of her support right now due to his condition.

"I'm good," Roxas said, glancing at Kairi before shutting his eyes again. "Thanks, though."

 

Namine blinked, feeling Kairi's gaze on her. "I'll take a water," she said softly, her tone naturally sounding polite. The blond girl always was the most soft-spoken one in the group, and she doubted that would change any time soon.

"You mind getting me a water, Kai?" Sora asked, blinking when he realized he called her by her old nickname. Being close to her was going to take some getting used to, not that he minded that.

 

Kairi looked over her shoulder at the name, a smile instantly appearing on her face. "Sure," she said, nodding to Sora. After a second of letting her eyes linger on him, she turned her head to Namine. "Hey, can you come help me for a sec?" She lightly motioned in the direction of the kitchen with her thumb, wanting the blonde to come with her.

 

Namine unfoled her hands, nodding at the request. "Yeah, sure," she said immediately, setting her hands on the sofa beside her as she rose to her feet. Kairi probably wanted help since she was getting three water bottles. But then again, since when had carrying three water bottles been such a hard job?

 

"Thanks." Kairi smiled softly at her friend before starting out of the room and heading for the kitchen. She wasn't sure what exactly she was going to say to Namine, but something was upsetting her best friend. Kairi's troubles were pretty much gone, so it was time to focus on somebody else.

 

Namine walked around the sofa before following Kairi in the direction of the kitchen, her hands folded in front of her. There was no point in questioning Kairi now; they were already going to the kitchen. Surely Namine was just paranoid in thinking that Kairi had other reasons for taking her away from the boys...right?

 

Kairi moved through Sora's house, surprisingly not forgetting her way around; not that it was that hard, since the kitchen was just down the hall. She walked into the room and immediately approached the fridge, opening it and reaching in for the water bottles.

 

Namine walked a few steps into the kitchen before stopping, seeing Kairi going into the refrigerator and getting the bottles of water. She stood by and waited, not sure exactly what she was helping Kairi with. It wasn't hard to carry three bottles of water at a time.

 

Kairi gathered two of the bottles in one arm and another bottle in her other hand before she leaned back, shutting the fridge. She turned to Namine then, and smiled softly. "Come here," she encouraged gently, motioning with her head toward the counter and barstools in Sora's kitchen. As far as Kairi was concerned, they needed to have some small talk.

 

Namine arched a brow slightly, the girl not sure what Kairi was getting at. Regardless, she went where Kairi directed, sitting down on one of the barstools in silence.
