Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

"Alright. I'll try not to bother you," Roxas said. If he had any opinions, he would keep them to himself and let Sora do his own thing. Plus, his friend was still adjusting to this life, not the other. Laying off was probably a good idea, for both of them.

 

Sora nodded once, a small smile appearing on his lips. "Alright." He felt as if he and Roxas reached an understanding now, so that was good. At least now they wouldn't be stepping on each others toes. Hopefully.

 

Roxas looked at Sora and then lifted a hand out in the space between them. "Friends again?" he asked, smiling awkwardly. He was trying to lighten the situation, mostly because he didn't like things being dark between him and Sora. And he didn't like dark at all. But a handshake, to him, would make it official that things were going to get better for both of them.

 

Sora uncurled his fist, hearing Roxas's words and seeing his hand stuck out. "Yeah, we're friends again," he said, his soft smile from earlier widening a fraction as he reached out and shook Roxas's hand. "We always will be." Even if Roxas had been testing Sora's patience lately, he wasn't about to give up a friendship that both of them had worked so hard for.

 

Roxas nodded at Sora, his smile turning less awkward and more real as he shook his friend's hand. After a minute, he let go, his hand coming back to his side. He hoped that he wouldn't mess things up again; he was sick of these problems and their aftermath.

 

Sora brought his hand back to his side, the brunet looking past Roxas and seeing the two girls sitting on a bench some ways away. "We should probably let them know we're not going to kill each other," he said, his lips forming a small grin as he shifted his gaze to the blond in front of him.

 

A single chuckle left Roxas's lips without force, the blond glancing over his shoulder in the direction Sora had looked. He saw the girls and turned back. "C'mon," he said, motioning with his arm for Sora to come with him as he started to turn around, heading in the girls' direction.

 

Sora started after Roxas, the teen a step behind him. He was actually glad they had run into each other; he had gotten a lot off his chest and secured his friendship with Roxas again. He really hoped that things would be different in the future, though a darker part of him doubted that would happen. Regardless, he pushed his pessimistic feelings behind him, looking to a brighter future.

 

Roxas walked over to the girls, knowing Sora was right behind him. When they noticed that they were indeed civil, hopefully things would lighten up. He couldn't say much about being light about anything, mostly because he was a darker Roxas than when he left. Regardless, he wanted change. Things were not only hard on his friendships, but somebody most important: Namine. He didn't want to hurt her anymore, and hopefully now that things were solved with Sora, things would be looking up for Roxas's and Namine's relationship as well.

 

Sora kept his hands by his sides as he walked, both of them curled slightly. Even after being home over two weeks, it felt strange not to hold the Keyblades in his grasp. But at least he felt that they wouldn't randomly appear in his hands anymore; that sensation had made it hard for him to live normally the first week he had been home.

Namine looked in front of her, unaware that Sora and Roxas were walking on the path that was behind their bench. She and Kairi had just gotten done with a light conversation, which explained why she had a soft smile on her lips. They had been talking about Ty, and how lovable that dog was. Someday, Namine would have to bring Ty to the park so that they could all play with him again. The last time they had all been with the pooch, things had been very fun.

 

Roxas approached the bench the girls were sitting on and went up to Namine. He stopped behind her and put his hands lightly on her shoulders, at the same time leaning forward to peek at her face. He'd caught a glimpse of it on the way over and noticed the small smile. Hopefully it was still there.

Kairi tucked a few strands of her hair behind her ear, her eyes on a few kids building a snowman not too far away. She smiled slightly at the sight, wondering when the last time was she had done such a thing.

 

Namine felt the hands on her shoulders, and though she was surprised, she didn't jump. She could tell by the gentleness of the touch that it was Roxas, so she wasn't worried. She turned her head and looked up and behind her a little bit, seeing that it was the person she had expected to see. She felt her small smile stay present on her lips, the girl seeing by his expression that things were better now.

Sora glanced at Roxas and Namine before he came up to Kairi, the brunet standing to the side of the bench as he brought a hand to Kairi's shoulder. Even if they hadn't been apart that long, he found that he didn't want to take his eyes off of her.

 

Roxas offered Namine a small smile for two reasons. The first was because she was smiling up at him. The second reason was to let her know things were okay, but he could see by her expression that she already knew that. It was probably obvious since he and Sora weren't physically beating each other up at the moment.

Kairi turned her head in the direction of the touch, being slightly surprised by the presence. However, it was a warm presence, something and somebody she welcomed with a smile. Looking up at the boy next to her, Kairi could tell that things were better, and that was a relief.

 

Namine felt her soft smile widen a little, the girl glad to see Roxas smile. She didn't see as much of that smile as she wanted to, so she was glad that it was present now, even if her bangs were in her eyes a little and preventing her from seeing him completely. It was still good that she could at least see most of it.

Sora met Kairi's bright blue eyes, and he offered her a faint smile. Things were better, and hopefully they would stay that way for a while. He knew that the tenseness between him and Roxas affected everyone, and he didn't want the girls to have to deal with any more of that stress.

 

Roxas lifted one of his hands from Namine's shoulders and brushed back the bangs that were in her eyes, at the same time leaning down and kissing her forehead. He pulled back after a second, his hand returning to her shoulder as his eyes found her once more. She seemed better somehow, and that was perfectly okay with him.

Kairi looked up at Sora and lifted a hand to grasp his wrist as he had a light grasp on her shoulder. She was glad that the discussion between Roxas and Sora was over, and glad that it was only that. If it had gone worse, she didn't know what she would have done. Obviously she and Namine would've had to break it up, but that would have been devastating. The two boys were great friends; seeing them fight was painful.

 

Namine smiled, her bangs out of her eyes and the kiss being planted on her forehead. Roxas did seem much less tense than he heard earlier that day, and she was glad. Hopefully things would be better from here on out; it was a shame that all of them had to go through these problems.

Sora kept his hand on Kairi's shoulder, looking down at her with soft blue eyes. After a moment, he leaned down, giving her a light kiss on the top of her red hair before he pulled back to his previous position. He had just felt like giving her a kiss, and that had been reason enough for him to perform the action.

 

Roxas felt his smile grow slightly at the look on Namine's face, the boy squeezing her shoulders gently before his gaze moved to the other couple. His eyes found Sora and then Kairi, his smile softening some.

Kairi felt a warm smile spread across her lips at the gesture, that being exactly how she felt: warm. Sora always made her feel that way, even when things were uncertain between them. It was a gift she believed Sora had. The girl felt a light gaze on her and turned her head in the opposite direction, her eyes finding Roxas.

 

Namine followed Roxas's gaze after a minute, turning to look over at Sora and Kairi. She saw Kairi returning Roxas's gaze, and then she looked up to the brunet.

Sora looked to Namine at the same time that she looked to him, his bright blue eyes finding hers. He offered his friend a small smile, the teen glad to see that she looked relaxed. She was a dear friend to him, and he always wanted happiness for her. He didn't want it at the same level that Roxas did, because he wasn't her boyfriend, but their friendship was strong enough to trigger those feelings.

 

Roxas nodded to Kairi in the silence that surrounded all of them, receiving a small one in return. He could see that she was happy too, and for once in a long time, he believed he and Sora did something right for a change, together. It hadn't been like that months before, but it was different now.

 

Sora looked up to Roxas and then down to Kairi, seeing that all of them appeared content. This was a rare occasion, and he wouldn't take it for grated. "Let's do something fun," he said, looking back up at the blonds halfway through his sentence.
