Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Kairi straightened, at the same time tightening her gasp on Sora's hand and beginning to pull him up. Being warm sounded very nice right now, as well as a hot beverage. Maybe they could get some hot chocolate or something, either in the city or at Namine's.

 

Sora set his hand on the ground and pushed himself up, though he did allow Kairi to help him a little bit. When he was on his feet, he brought his free hand down, wiping some snow off of his soaked jeans. Yup, it was definitely time to get dry and warm.

 

Now that Sora was up, Roxas decided to speak. "So, we'll all meet up at Namine's in a half hour?" he asked, standing next to the blonde girl and looking at his other two friends.

Kairi slowly released Sora's hand, turning her head to gaze at Roxas. She nodded to him once. Yep, that was the plan. She just needed to go home and change, much like everybody else.

 

Sora nodded as well, though he verbally confirmed what Roxas said was well. "Yup," he said, stuffing his hands into his coat pockets. He was freezing now, so he would hurry home and get changed, and then be off to Namine's. "See you guys there."

 

Roxas nodded once and then looked to Namine. He put a hand lightly on her back to guide her, deciding he would walk her home first. It was on the way, and he didn't want her going alone.

Kairi looked from Sora to her two blonde friends, knowing it was time to leave the park. She tucked her hair behind her ear as she started moving through the snow, starting back to the sidewalk so she could head home and change.

 

About half an hour later, Sora was approaching Namine's house. He was by himself, and he figured that he would be the last one to arrive, since he lived the furthest away. Regardless, he had come around the time he was expected. He approached the door and rang the bell, waiting patiently.

Namine heard the doorbell and she smiled, leaving Roxas to finish the hot chocolates so that she could answer the door. She lightly touched his shoulder when she walked by before she went into the entrance hall, going to the door and opening it up. "Hi, Sora."

"Hey, Namine," Sora said with a smile. He saw her step aside to allow him and and he entered, stepping a few steps in so that she could shut the door.

 

Roxas glanced at Namine over his shoulder at the touch, but otherwise turned back to finishing their warm beverages. He'd gotten here after Kairi did, about five minutes ago. He glanced up at the redhead as he stirred one of the mugs, seeing her flipping through a magazine as she sat at the table.

Kairi looked over the clothes in the magazine in front of her, sitting at Namine's kitchen table. She hadn't been here long, but Roxas came right after she did. And when she heard the doorbell, she knew Sora made it on time as well.

 

Sora shrugged off his coat, hanging it up by the door before he slipped of his sneakers as well. He turned to look at Namine when he was done, who was standing a few steps away now that she had shut the door.

"Everyone's in the kitchen," Namine said, lifting a hand and tucking back a strand of hair. Sora was the last to arrive, not that he was late.

Sora nodded slightly, turning to face that direction. He was surprised, though, when he saw a yellow streak running towards him. He stepped back a step, the dog stopping in front of him and wagging his tail. "Ty!" he instantly cried, a smile on his lips as he knelt down and petted the pet.

 

Kairi glanced up when she heard the name, a smile coming to her face instantly. Ty hadn't seen Sora in a long time, if she remembered correctly. He was probably really excited to see him. Kairi went back to her magazine, letting the boy and pet have their moment.

 

"Hey, buddy," Sora cooed, giving the dog a good ear rub. Ty leaned into the touch, wagging his tail excitedly as he allowed Sora to treat him well.

Namine smiled softly, walking ahead and leaving Sora and Ty. She came back into the kitchen and stopped beside Roxas, looking over the four mugs to see how much progress he had made while she was gone.

 

Roxas felt a gentle presence next to him and turned his head, looking at Namine and smiling softly. He then turned his attention back to the last mug of hot chocolate, stirring it a little before removing the spoon. All four mugs were done.

 

Namine took one of the finished mugs closest to her, stepping around Roxas and setting it by Kairi. "Here you go," she said, sitting it on the counter in front of her best friend.

 

Kairi looked up from her magazine, brushing some of her red hair out of her face. She noticed the mug and smiled at Namine. "Thanks," she said, her focus turning from the magazine article to the warm beverage in front of her. She cupped her hands around it, letting the warmth of the mug warm her hands.

 

"Mmhmm," Namine hummed, nodding once before she turned around to the other mugs. They smelled delicious, and they looked to be very warm. The blond couldn't wait to drink hers and get warmer than she already was.

 

Roxas turned his head to look toward the kitchen doorway. "Sora!" he called, one hand cupping around his mouth to project his voice more. His voice echoed in the kitchen though, so it wasn't really needed.

Kairi lifted her mug to her lips and cautiously took a sip, the hot chocolate going down her throat and instantly warming her. It wasn't too hot or too cold; it was perfect.

 

Sora stopped petting Ty, leaving him alone as he rose to his feet. "Sorry buddy, we'll play later," he said with a smile. He headed to the kitchen, thinking about the dog's chipped ear. He didn't know what that was caused by, but he decided he wouldn't ask about it.

Namine stopped beside Roxas again and picked up a mug, holding it with both hands as she lifted it to her lips and drank a few sips. It was delicious and warm, which made the girl smile a little bit. After the cold weather earlier, she was especially glad she always kept hot chocolate in her home.

 

Kairi continued to sip at her hot chocolate, looking back down at the magazine in front of her. She wasn't really interested in it, but it would fill the silence for her.

Roxas lowered his arm and turned back to the last two mugs. He picked one for himself, deciding that the other was for Sora.

 

Sora entered the kitchen, seeing one mug left on the counter. He approached it and picked it up, taking a few sips of it. The warmth felt very good to him, especially since the walk over had been frigid.

 

Kairi swallowed another small bit of her hot chocolate, looking up when she heard light footsteps. Even before she saw him, she knew it was Sora. She glanced over her mug at him, taking a sip of the warm beverage. A peaceful silence settled over the room, and she didn't really mind. It was nice.

 

Sora lowered his mug after a few seconds, his eyes wandering over all of his friends in the kitchen. "Long time no see, guys," he said jokingly, a smile appearing on his lips. It had been fourty-five minutes at the most since they were all together last, and that time had gone by pretty quickly for him.
