Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas turned his head to look in Sora's direction, and his eyes instantly widened, the boy pushing himself from the counter as his arms fell to his sides. "Sora!" he cried, scolding his best friend. Was the bread ruined now?

 

Sora pulled out the bread, shutting the oven door with his knee as he set the tray on the counter. He had it sitting on two oven mitts, though, so at least the counter wouldn't get burned like the bread had. He sighed, seeing that they almost looked like lumps of charcoal. Whoops...

 

Roxas groaned and ran his hand through his hair, rolling his eyes. His hand hit his leg when it fell from his head, the boy glaring at Sora. "I give you one task. One!" he said. "And it was watching bread."

Kairi felt a smile on her lips at the amusement of this scene, even if she did feel a little bad for Sora. She could already smell the smoke, and from a distance, the bread didn't look that appetizing. Oops.

 

"Hey!" Sora cried defensively. "Your vegetables aren't cut either, so don't point the finger just yet." He failed at his job, but Roxas wasn't making any progress, either. As far as he was concerned, both of them were doing awful with this, not just him.

 

Roxas glanced at the vegetables that were half-cut, but only for a second. His gaze darted back to Sora. "Well, I would be done with the vegetables and the bread wouldn't be burnt if you didn't complain about your job," he said, glancing at the bread again. "Which, I'll point out again, was watching bread."

 

Sora scowled, folding his arms across his chest. He couldn't come up with a witty response to that, so he stayed silent instead. So what if he had messed up with the bread? He would think of some way to fix this...

 

Roxas sighed softly, trying to calm himself down. Maybe he was being too harsh, taking his frustration with cooking, again, out on Sora. He turned back to his vegetables, picking up the knife. He started chopping the vegetables, the sound of the knife meeting the cutting board louder than before due to his frustrations.

 

"They don't have to know that we tried making bread," Sora said, looking back down at the crispy food he had been in charge of. "We can just throw it out and say we were only having salad along with spaghetti." It made sense to him; why would he and Roxas be expected to do extra, harder work?

 

"Hmm. Good point," Roxas said in a calmer tone. He continued cutting the vegetables, thinking. Maybe Sora was right. Were they really expected to make an extraordinary dinner, especially with their "skills"? Probably not, Roxas thought. I was lucky I got as much done last time...

 

Sora nodded slightly, looking to Roxas. "I'll save some for Ty," he said, glancing down at the bread. He was sure that the dog would appreciate it; Ty had an appetite similar to his and Roxas's. If he was hungry, then he would eat just about anything.

 

Roxas stopped cutting the vegetables, realizing something. "I cannot believe I'm actually doing this," he said then, not caring if Sora heard. Seriously, when did he actually start cooking when he was told to? This definitely wasn't something he would normally do. At all.

 

Sora turned his head, hearing a noise at the same time as Roxas's complaint. "Hey buddy, I got you something," he said to the dog, a smile on his lips as he reached onto the bread tray and pulled off a piece. He held it out for the dog and he took it right out of his hand, which made Sora chuckle.

Namine stifled a giggle, finding her dog's actions adorable. He loved his food, even if it was burnt and crispy. He would eat whatever food was offered to him.

 

Roxas turned around a little when he heard Sora speak, seeing Ty take the bread willingly. He temporarily forgot his own thoughts, surprised by the sight. "Wait. He actually likes it?" he said in disbelief. The food didn't really look edible, at least to him.

 

"He's acting like it," Sora said, looking down at the dog who was wagging his tail excitedly. "You want some more, bud?" he asked with a slight smirk. After all, nobody else could eat it. To Sora's surprise, the dog turned around and ran off, through the kitchen doorway. That wasn't what shocked him most though...did he see people sitting along the sides of the doorway?

Namine was tempted to gasp, seeing Sora looking over at her and Kairi. Uh-oh! she thought, ignoring the dog that had passed between her and her best friend. If he recognizes that we're here...

 

Kairi was frozen in place from Sora's gaze. He doesn't see us, she kept telling herself. He doesn't see us... However, she felt that he did see them, but she couldn't move.

Roxas looked at Sora, seeing that he was staring at something. "What is it?" he asked after a moment, arching an eyebrow. He followed Sora's gaze to where Ty had obviously left the kitchen. It was then that he thought he saw something...blonde. And red. Roxas tilted his head to the side slightly in curiosity. The last time he checked, those colors weren't on Namine's wall...

 

Namine didn't move, frozen with her camera still pointing at Sora and Roxas. She knew that they were caught now, but they couldn't move or the boys would chase them. But what were they supposed to do?!

Sora took a few steps forward and off to the side a little bit so that he could see around one of the corners. He immediately arched a brow, seeing the redhead sitting on the ground. Spying, huh? he thought, looking down at her critically. How long had she been there?

 

Kairi giggled nervously, looking up at Sora. She lifted a hand and wiggled her fingers in a small wave. "...Hi," she finally said. She glanced at Namine out of the corner of her eye before looking back at Sora. Yup, they were spotted. Clearly.

Roxas furrowed his eyebrows slightly, slowly following Sora's lead. He walked a few steps toward where his friend was, having heard Kairi. He spotted Namine as well but stood a few feet away, confused. "Uh... What're you doing?" he asked.

 

Namine quickly hid the camera behind her back, rising to her feet as she looked to Roxas. "Nothing," she said, shaking her head. Man, I hope they didn't notice the camera, she thought nervously, her shy eyes moving down to the ground for a moment before she found the courage to look back up at Roxas.

Sora arched a brow, seeing Namine clearly now that she had risen to her feet. "What's behind your back?" he asked, having seen her quick movement. Whatever it was, it must have been important, since Namine's eyes got larger at the question.

 

Kairi remained in her spot in front of Sora, though she slowly pushed herself up as the conversation went on. She glanced at Namine and then at the boys, biting her lip. Uh-oh.

Roxas narrowed his eyes a little as he looked at Namine, suddenly very suspicious. "Namine..." he said, his tone full of warning. What did she just hide behind her back, and why was she hiding it in the first place? And why had they been spying on them?

 

Namine smiled shyly, taking one step back. If the boys got their hands on the camera, then they would either steal it, or break it, depending on how rough they were. And, well, Namine wasn't about to lose the precious video she had just recorded.
