Fast Food Madness: The Epic Return V2

Roxas gently squeezed Namine's hand in his grasp, his eyes not leaving her as he neglected to notice the couple standing not too far away. The way she pulled this on him sometimes was unfair, but once he was under the spell, he didn't really care.

Kairi shrugged slightly, looking back to her blonde friends. "If you say so," she quietly quipped. Sora had asked her a few questions up in the tree house, but she hadn't said much more than that. Namine was the one with the camera, after all. Kairi just had the memory card, with all the footage. Of course, the boys didn't know about that.

 

Namine's soft smile widened when she felt Roxas squeeze her hand. She gently took her hand off his face, allowing it to fall back to her side as she gazed at him.

Sora glanced at Roxas and Namine before he looked back at Kairi, processing her words. Was that supposed to be a challenge? Because that was what he took it as, and he never passed up a challenge. He would get that tape, no matter what.

 

Roxas let his hand fall to his side also when Namine moved, the boy looking down at the hand he continued to hold.

Kairi felt Sora's gaze on her and turned her eyes to him, smiling slightly. "Go ahead," she said, motioning with her head to her friends. "Try it." She was encouraging him for two reasons. One, Namine got Roxas to crack, so this was bound to be interesting. And two, Kairi wanted to see if it actually worked.

 

Sora nodded slightly, looking at his friends again. "Alright, Namine," he said, stopping about two feet away from the couple. "You may have distracted Roxas, but that won't work on me. So how about you give me the camera?"

Namine turned around at the voice, her hand still in Roxas's as she looked at Sora. Oops, I hadn't thought of how this would work...she thought, her grip on Roxas's hand tightening a little at the thought. What should I do now?

 

Roxas looked beyond Namine, over at Sora. He heard his friend's words and felt Namine's light squeeze. He didn't know what Namine's motion meant exactly, still a little bit under her spell that she had purposely pulled on him.

 

"Namine," Sora said, holding out a hand for the camera. He was going to get it; surely Namine knew that he couldn't fall for any of her tricks. She had put up a good fight, but she had no choice but to surrender the footage now.

Namine bit her lip lightly, gazing at the ground. Then, though, she got one last idea. She turned her head and looked to Roxas, her puppy-eyes reappearing. Please make him stop, she pleaded through her facial expression, the girl desperate now.

 

Roxas felt his eyes soften the second he met Namine's gaze, seeing that look again. Already thinking she was extremely adorable, the return of the expression had him almost smiling. He tightened his hold on her hand slightly and tore his eyes from hers, looking up at Sora. "You know," he started. "Maybe we should just let it go."

Kairi tilted her head slightly from her place a few feet away from her friends, having heard Roxas's words. Yup, Namine had him wrapped around her little finger. Perfect.

 

Sora arched a brow, shaking his head. "Snap out of it, Roxas!" he cried. "That's exactly what they want!" If they left it alone now, then they probably wouldn't ever get their hands on it. Roxas had to understand that, didn't he?

Namine silently kept her eyes on Roxas, giving him the same look she had given him before. He couldn't give in to Sora. He just couldn't!

 

"Uh..." Roxas lifted his free hand to his hair instantly, hearing Sora's words but seeing Namine's face. He was caught in the middle. And he wasn't sure if that was good.

 

Namine knew that Roxas was having a hard time, so she was going to make this easier. She took a step closer to him and lightly set her hand on his arm, the girl then leaning her head on his shoulder.

 

Roxas's eyes were stuck on Namine, the boy staring down at her now that she was closer to him. So cute... "I mean..." he started again, turning his gaze to Sora once more. "We've been at this for a while. Don't you think it's time we gave it a break?" He could feel Namine's touch, which only made him want to focus on her. But he had to concentrate on the situation at hand.

 

Sora brought a hand to his forehead in disbelief. "There's no getting through to you, man," he mumbled, looking down at the ground. After a minute, though, he looked up at his best friend again. "Fine. Let's go in then; I'm hungry."

 

Roxas smiled sheepishly, chuckling a little as his eyes darted to the ground. Namine could get him to see from her point of view pretty easily. Even he had to admit to that.

Kairi walked forward a few steps, a slightly bigger smile on her lips. "Wait, so we're done?" she asked, coming up beside Sora. Did she and Namine actually win this time?

 

Sora shook his head once again, lowering his hand from his forehead. "We're done for now," he said strictly, turning his head to look at the redhead beside him. "Besides, I'm too hungry to care about humiliation right now." Right about now, he was wishing that he and Roxas had finished their meal.

 

Roxas looked up and nodded slightly in agreement. "I'm starving," he said, starting to come out of his little daze from Namine's cuteness. Spaghetti, which they had originally intended to cook until some things happened, sounded delicious. However, he didn't think he was going to be able to eat that.

Kairi smiled sweetly up at her boyfriend, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Well, you guys never did finish your dinner," she pointed out, a slightly teasing tone in her voice. Of course, that had been interrupted by the girls, but she wasn't going to say that. It was obvious.

 

Sora looked down at Kairi, his mouth agape with surprise. "You mean you guys are still going to force us to make dinner?" he asked, frowning faintly. They already had humiliating video footage of him and Roxas, and now they had to cook a meal? Wasn't the video bad enough?

Namine ran her hand over Roxas's arm a few times, the girl keeping her head on his shoulder as she looked to her best friend. "I think we could give them a hand, right Kairi?" she asked. Considering how hard it had been distracting Roxas, she didn't want to let him go back to thinking about why they had been interrupted.

 

Roxas looked down at Namine, both at her touch and her words. He then lifted his gaze to Kairi, hope in his eyes. Things would be so much easier if the girls helped with dinner, and he and Sora couldn't get in trouble; they would be doing some work after all.

Kairi met Namine's gaze and shrugged slightly. "I don't see why not," she agreed, her eyes moving from Namine to Roxas, and then to Sora. After what they just went through, she thought they could use a little help. After all, Sora did have a little trouble with the bread...

 

Sora smiled down at Kairi, nodding faintly. He was glad to hear that they would help; the boys needed it. "Let's go then," he said, encouraging everyone to get a move on. He was starving, and he knew Roxas felt the same.

 

Roxas nodded in agreement, just then realizing how empty his stomach felt. Yeah, he definitely wanted some food. With the girls' help, it was sure to be delicious. Just the thought made Roxas squeeze Namine's hand and start to turn back toward the house.

Kairi nodded once and lowered her hand from Sora's shoulder, smiling up at him for another few seconds before her gaze dropped. She started forward through the snow, wanting to get inside now that they made a decision. Plus, she was freezing.

 

Half an hour later, the food was prepared and sitting out on the table, along with all the necessary silverware and glasses filled with water. She had put Sora to work with that, while she had kept Roxas in the kitchen. Separating the two boys had worked well, since they couldn't bicker very well when they were in separate rooms.

Sora was already sitting in his seat, as were his friends. He was next to Kairi (naturally), and Roxas was next to Namine. The brunet couldn't help but mentally sigh at the sight of his best friend. Yup, Namine's act earlier was still affecting him a little bit.
